Description:
These old 16th century walls near Aigues-Mortes , between Nîmes and Montpellier , were once the home of the treasurer to king Louis XV , before belonging much later to Victor Hugo’s great granddaughter. She received Cocteau , Eluard and Eric Satie here , and the house has inherited her sense of hospitality. It is easy to imagine you are in a friend’s home , full of 19th century furniture and a thousand memories. Between the Camargue and Provence , the bedrooms are characteristic of the region with beams , whitewashed walls and Provençal quilts. The park has a garden , a terrace and a swimming pool surrounded by palms and ancient olive trees.
