Great hotelReally nice hotel in beautiful Yorkshire surroundings. Shame about the main road next to it but you soon forgot about that with the very efficient service and some friendly locals supping at the bar on Friday night.

Real findGenuinely nice and helpful staff. Don't book this hotel if you want to watch TV but do if you want good, well cooked locally-sourced food, excellent beers and a friendly base for touring or walking in the area.

Fantastic Value For Money Travellers Rest in Yorkshire!Arrived late afternoon following a long journey from mid-Wales via Barnsley and walked into a genuine oasis for travellers fighting their way over the Woodhead Pass! Located on the moors just outside Penistone (Manchester side) and directly on the side of the A628 first thoughts would be noise due to the heavy vehicles on this busy road. No such problem and bedrooms quiet. Noisiest thing was the sheep in the fields surrounding the hotel. We were welcomed by a young lady who could not have been more accommodating. Lounge bar very cosy and bedrooms very comfortable. Real ale fans in for a treat ( 4 guest beers on the pump when we stayed) and the food menu was very extensive, good local fayre, beautifully cooked and presented. . Also included in our rate was breakfast of your choice cooked fresh there and then ( no dried up buffet here!) Overall great value for money and next time in this area would go out of our way to stay here again. Thanks a lot.Very impressed.

Dog & Partridge Inn & Hotel Hazelhead Peak DistrictAs previous reviewer's have stated, freindly staff who will help without hesitation any problems or requirements. The food is excellent including the wine and ale. The rooms are clean and tidy with plenty of space. We stayed 2 nights over the easter bank holiday. We will definately be going back and highly recommend anyone to put this hotel on their list. Barry & Pauline from Scarborough

Nice locationNice location. Food was normal pub food quality with high price and foodie style menu which did not live up to its promise. Nice enough place to stay but I personally would prefer to try somewhere new next time if I wereto spend the same money. Breakfast was nice just took about 15mins waiting on my own for somebody to take my order. No real complaints however. If you are looking for a decent quality room with reasonable quality food then this place won't disappoint.

Convenient and comfortable A pleasant country inn with decent food, nice open fire and good service. Room was clean, warm a good size and provided all that was needed. Breakfast was very good and filling. Views, when the mist lifted, were excellent and the route down to manchester after the stay was a very pleasant and quick ride.

What a find! Warm welcome on arrival, real ale on tap. One of the best pub restaurant menus we've seen and the cooking and presentation of the meal first class. Service above and beyond the call of duty. We are definitely coming back and recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxed break.

Although close to a busy road there was no noise in the roomThe dinner menu looked excellent but we didn't have chance to sample it, however breakfast was superbOur only complaint would be the smoking in the bar on our return to the hotel around 23:30

A good value hotel with nice relaxed pub atmosphere. Quite remote location but really good value for money with an excellent breakfast. The room was basic but comfortable and spacious and had everything you need. TV didn't work very well but this is really the only minor complaint with some background hissing noise. Staff were very friendly and helpful and if you are looking for a nice rural place to stay within 45 mins of Manchester this place fits the bill.

Lovely hotel would definitely stay again. Room was immaculate and the staff friendly. If you plan to leave early in the morning make the staff aware the night before, we couldn't get out!!!

Arrived late and the restaurant had shut, so cannot comment on the evening meal, but they did make me a very good sandwich out of hours. Breakfast was very good. There was a sing song going on in the bar, but you could not hear it in the new barn bedrooms. Room was a nice size and clean. No complaints at all, will be staying again on the next trip to the area. One passing comment - DO NOT use the pubs postcode for Sat Navs as you will end up in the wrong place, close but not close enough. The pub have an alternative postcode for Sat Navs if you phone them or their written directions are fine.
