We had a wonderful time. It is our second trip to Barbados. Last time 5 years ago we stayed at Tamarind Cove (West Coast and very expensive and very nice). This time we brought our 17 year old daughter and her best friend. The people couldn't have been nicer. The food at the restaurant was only ok, but the drinks were reasonable and pretty good. If you like pizza, yes pizza, there is a restaurant to the left as you walk toward the beach that serves some of the best pizza you will ever have. About $19.00 american I think, but great. They also serve other food and it's good. The cooking facilities in the room were more than adequate and we used them everyday. If you take the local bus into town, there are two supermarkets and at least one of them provides its own transport service to get you home with your groceries. The beach in front of the hotel was fabulous, actually much better than Tamarind cove because you can walk quite a ways out and still be on sand. At Tamarind Cove you walked ten feet out and the sand was gone and you were standing on sharp coral. I'll take Divi anyday. Divi is at the quiet end of the beach, but if you walk down about a quarter mile to the left there are many people having a really good time. The water sports, jet skis, banana boat, snorkeling with the seaturtles, etc. is run by a couple of guys that seem to be just having a good time all the time. We ran onto the main guy in the clubs one night. They eben had guys surfing there one afternoon. Water was clean and refreshing. The room was not very fancy, but it was adequate. My wife and I slept in the bedroom and the girls shared the foldout bed in the couch. The chest of drawers in the living room had a drawer fall apart, but they came and repaired it. There was noise from construction most every day. They were redoing the stonework in lobby area and elsewhere. I didn't mind it, but my wife did. It usually started around 8am. It is my understanding that the construction should be done, but they told us that the restaurant next to the pool was being completely renovated during the summer or fall. I hope its complete by april when we go back.. Yes, the girls are demanding we return. The people could not have been nicer. Not just at the hotel, but all over the island. I've been all over the carribean and Barbados is #1, followed closely by Puerto Rico. You can keep the Bahamas and Aruba was only Ok. Our daughter lost her cell phone at the airport just as we arrived, but did not realize it until the next day. We reported it to the hotel manager and he put us in touch with the airport police and taxi stand. I was not optimistic, but the manager insisted that if it was found it would be returned. This was on a Monday. We checked every day, but no phone. then on Friday (Good Friday) we got a call from the airport and the officer explained that the cab driver found our phone between the seats of his van when he was cleaning it and would be bringing it by the hotel in about 20 minutes. That's nice, but all the people we met were like that. There are fancier places to stay on the island, but we were very happy at Divi Southwinds. I would be happy if anyone could give me current information on the construction status at Divi Southwinds.

Divi South Winds has a unique layout, its like its own little village away from the busy and vibrant night life of St lawrence Gap, but within a 3 minute stroll to all the late night action. The staff is very at ease as it provides sincere help and guidance in making sure you are comfortable. There's a great ambassador of the beach named [...], he's friendly as well as informative. Tell him Sheila said helloDivi beach is breathtaking the north end is cal and the south end is great for wave jumping local enjoy the sea here.

Nice Place. Very comfortable. Nice place. Nice staff. Near the beach, but not on it. Just a short walk through the back entrance. Probably less than 500 meters. Be sure and look for the monkeys on the tennis court in the evenings.

Stayed Nov. 27 to Dec. 5,''08. The room was very nice. Everything worked including the AC. We had a pool side ground floor room so we had a shorter path to the pool when retrieving drinks from the room. The staff was great, at the activities hut. They made all our dinner and excursion reservations for us. The hostess at breakfast and beach bartender was also especially helpful. We loved the location in the Gap because it was easy to walk to many excellent restaurants and beaches. This was our second stay at the Divi Southwinds. We didn't want to go home.

I have stayed at the Divi Southwinds several times and have brought other members of my family there. It is a nice family friendly environment where you feel at home. The people are very attentive and rememberable. They really make you feel comfortable and make sure that your needs are filled. I have gone to the Divi not long after a tropical storm and even in the clean up stage I was not dissatisfied. As they add more and more to the resort it only becomes more and more admirable. It is a beautiful place and its location is situated next to almost everything. I would refer friends and strangers to enjoy the family of the Divi Southwinds Resort. If you are looking for the snooty dooty people they are not here. Book somewhere else.

The Divi South winds in Barbados was the worst resort bar none that I've ever stayed at. Try one night in room 515 and you'll never travel again. Birds and bird mess was everywhere in the dinning room at the buffet line , it was as if the were paying customers.

I have stayed at the DIVI Southwinds several times. Even ritght after the hurricane one time it was nice a little desheveled but nice. The people are very friendly and the service is exceptional. The only reason I rated some of the room features good was because we had a problem with I guess mosquitoes in the room when we didn't have the air on. This only affected us when we stayed on the waterfront apts. The service and the food is excellent. The night entertainment is great too. It is a nice quaint place for regular folks to have a nice, comfortable, relaxing vacation. I have referred many others to the DIVI Southwinds.

This was my second time staying here. The staff are very friendly and the location is perfect to go without a rental car to save money. The rooms are comfortable with lots of space, but during this last stay, we had trouble with consistent hot water in the shower despite changing rooms. Additionaly, the room above us starting leaking water through our ceiling.

We had little or no water in our room the first three days of our stay. all we got is placing the blame on everyone but them, and bathing was a challenge. Please don't recommend this hotel DIVI Southwinds

I spent three nights here in March 2009, and was very happy with the hotel. My room was on the beach, with kitchen and balcony. The outside of the building looked a little run down as I approached, but once inside, it was very clean, well furnished and quiet and comfortable.

When I visited the Divi's they were in the middle of construction which made for a lot of noise that woke us up early in the morning way before we wanted to get up.. The food and drinks were horrible. The rooms were way to small with no fan in the bathroom for ventilation. The furniture was old and the seating hard. The location is great, right on the strip were you can club hop every night. The staff was very helpfull which made the experience better. The price was reasonable. I will say this, don't leave anything behind becausee it took me a month to get my orthopedic pillow back.

The Divi Southwinds was a nice property. Quite, in spite of the construction and a very competent staff. Wireless internet reception in the room was excellent! My only issue was that the pool was out of service for the entire visit.

The hotel accomodations were clean but run down. Space was adequate for 3 persons. The kitchen was OK (a bread toaster would help)but the shower was very uncomfortable - bad shower head and poor heat control - temperature fluctuated drastically.

The Divi South Wind was a very comfortable hotel to stay. The staff was friendly and very generous. I had a wonderful time. Only drawback is that the laundry room only had one machine working. The staff was great.
