My wife and I visited DC just to see the sites. In terms of location for price, I was very happy. We ended up getting a King bed room, which was better than what we were told we were going to get, so that was a nice start. The staff was always available and helpful. The free breakfast was a great money saver. We had neighbors that seemed to enjoy opening and closing their room door late at night. The fact that the doors themselves aren't very soundproof, and they're placed so close together made it very annoying. The elevator was out and there were some things in disrepair, but what do you you expect from an old building? Overall, it's a charming place.

Location. Room too small, no closet, mildew & mold on shower curtain, dripping faucet, no sound insulation in walls, nonworking elevator. I was not expecting anything luxurious at this hotel, but was surprised that the room was so small it lacked a closet or anyplace to tuck suitcases out of the way. The dresser was too small to hold more than a very small suitcase worth of clothing. The shower curtain was moldy and the faucet dripped. The tiles looked like they were recently installed but in a slipshod manner. Is there a rating lower than one star?

Lots of stairs and no elevators or ramps - beware those carrying lots of heavy luggage. We were given a room on the 4th storey and had to lug 2x23kg suitcases up 4 flights of stairs. The room was clean but surprised that the toilet bowl was not properly 'sanitised'. Continental breakfast in the morning was good if you got up early enough and made your own waffles. Location was good, about 15-20mins walk to the Whitehouse and a little further to washington monument. About 25-30mins to chinatown and a little further to the Capitol. Free very high speed internet =)

A great location only a few blocks from the Metro stations at Dupont Circle and McPherson Square, and close to plenty of good restaurants. The hotel itself and the surrounding neighborhood are quiet, the rooms are small but clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. For the price, the continental breakfast was more than adequate (e.g., muffins, danishes, waffles, coffee) although some yogurt or fresh fruit would have been a great addition. If you are sight-seeing or attending business meetings in DC, this hotel offers a clean, safe place to sleep at an affordable price. If, on the other hand, you are foolish enough to go to DC and sit in your hotel room, then you this may not be the place for you. We will definitely choose to stay at The District Hotel on our next trip to DC.

This trip was for education and vacation to Wash DC. it appeared to me that if you obtained your reservation through Orbitz that you got the least desireable room with the least upgraded TV and bathroom. thought that was kind of discriminatory. also the advertized walking distance to sites was not accurate.

It was cheap, available for last minute, and prime location in DC. Small, thin walls. We needed a place to crash for 6 hours of sleep before an interview, and this place was perfect. It was small and we could tell it was a very old hotel, but had updated amenities. I would not bring children here at all - but it was good for the cheap, not-so-picky traveler that doesn't spend a lot of time in their room. Friendly service, no access to windows. Would be worried if there were an emergency.

The hotel and staff were great, my one complaint was the rooms were not insulated from noise. I could hear people in the hallways and the next room.

If you have stayed in European sized rooms before you'll be fine. The renovations were done recently so I decided to ignore past comments about cleanliness etc. The location and price were good. It was about 4 good blocks to the nearest metro which isn't bad, but there is a Whole Foods and some nice restaurants and coffee shops within one block. Upon check-in the elevator was broken so I requested a first floor room due to to the weight of my baggage. They graciously took care of that and the elevator was working the next day as far as I know. The wi-fi was free and worked well. Morning "breakfast" is basic pastries, cereal, and also they have neat waffle makers. Not bad and served till 9:30am I think. I'd stay again.

The hotel rooms were rather small. Although I couldn't complain since it was in an area that was close to shops and restaurants etc..

Clean rooms & complimentary breakfast and WiFi internet. Narrow lobbies and small windows in rooms. Excellent value for the price. Hotel staff is courteous. Clean rooms.

The District Hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. It was located approximately 6 Washington Blocks from the White House and 4 blocks from either the MacPherson Square or Dupont Circle Metro Station. There is a 7-11 on the corner and several restaurants close by. All in all a good value.

The District Hotel looks very nice in the Orbitz photo, however, the rooms don't the photo justice. Our room was very small and lacked amenities (such as a pen and phonebook!). The beds are also a little comfortable. However, the staff was VERY helpful and knowledgeable about DC transportation and attractions. The hotel location was also great for the price, about a fifteen minute walk to the White House and museums.

It's got a great location; free breakfast in the morning is a plus! Limited parking. A good hotel for business travelers in the District. Close to Logan Circle, Dupont Circle, and many other central locations in the District. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

My stay at the District Hotel was horrible. I walked in and the ceiling was leaking in the lobby. The front desk was curtious but the room was not curtious to my nasal cavaties. It smelled, there were no towels, no cable, the phone wasnt working and the door was broken. You could see inside the room from the outside, someone could easily come in, no dead bolt. The room was FREEZING COLD, the heat was broken and the staff was very nonchalant about it. Will not stay here again, it makes u feel like your at a homeless shelter.

The elevator was out and my room was on the 3rd floor. Each floor is two flights of stairs. I had to go to Dr. when I got home for my lower back. Did not plan on walking up stairs daily. The staff is very, very helpful and kind! Great customer service. Rooms do need repaint and repair of pipe torn off wall with electrical socket attached. Need to provide do not disturb signs and the room door slam shut too loud!

"What to say...everything is broken there and crampy stuffed all in a smelly environment. remote doesn't work, window broken, tub broken, floor broken, door has slot so one can hear and see inside, etc., not a place worth more than half the price."

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location within a moderate walk of the convention center and many other tourist attractions. The interior of the hotel is very dated and the rooms are tiny; but clean. I could hear everything from the room next door while in the bathroom; but no noise from other rooms in the sleeping area.

"Hotel is in a great location, however, repairs are not complete. Poor parking in this area."
