Even though Disney is for families, it seems that the hotel lacked in the dining experience for children. That was really the only negative I had with the hotel. The staff was great and very friendly, the pool was wonderful, and the scenery was absolutely wonderful as well. This was my first trip to Disney but I probably would not stay at this hotel if I decide to go back. Mainly because there is so much more to see with the other hotels and it wouldn't be right to limit yourself to the same place time after time.

My mother and I stayed here from 1/30-2/6. Despite a few minor issues with our room and noise, we had an amazing stay. We had a Savannah View room, but unfortunately, the animals had been moved due to construction - at least we had the real "view" for a day. We had a great stay, and the staff was excellent. They took care of any problems that we had, and allowed us to relax. The room itself is MUCH smaller than the majority of rooms on Disney property, and they are very dark as well. That is probably my only gripe regarding the rooms. Other than that, it was delightful! :-) Try the Turkey Ciabatta and Zebra Domes at The Mara - TO DIE FOR!!!

This was like a dream come true for an animal lover. I could only afford to stay one night but it was the highlight of my trip. I had a savannah view room and could easily see giraffes, zebras, and other wildlife from my balcony during most parts of the day. Boma, the buffet restaurant, was incredible. The services and quality were excellent. When I can afford it, I will definitely stay again.

The atmosphere was fantastic. I love the fireplace in the lobby and the cartoons for the kids. The concierge and staff were very friendly. However, there was one day when we returned from the park at 4pm and our room wasn't clean. I called and they informed me they would clean it immediately, but they never showed. When choosing this hotel, you have to weigh the location of the hotel within Disney vs. the great atmosphere. It's a little far out, but may be worth it to most people.

I went to Animal Kingdom with my 6 and 2 year old and was very upset. We upgraded the room for a Savanah View only to see nothing but birds. The room was very tiny. In order to close the bathroom door you had to squeeze into the toilette. The lobby was packed with alot of bored kids all glued to one TV. The reasurants were over priced and food was terrible. The pool was very dangerous. My daughter who is 6 and knows how to swim tried to swim across the pool and almost went under because the distance to the other side was too far. The staff was o.k. It took me 15 minutes to find a place you were ALLOWED to smoke. So if you smoke def go somewhere else.

The lobby is beautiful and we were greeted warmly upon arrival. I was traveling with my mother and an infant. I had requested two double beds and was given a room right off the lobby with a horrible view of the parking lot/valet area. My room was not the two doubles I had requested, and they gave me bunk beds and a queen! I went back to the lobby and requested to be moved, but they had nothing else available and asked me to check back. The next day I checked back and they offered a pool view, but wanted to charge me 60 more per night!!! Needless to say we kept our room and just lived with it. The pool was okay, but not as elaborate as some of the other Disney resorts. The playground area was nice for kids, and restaurants were pricey, but good. The animals are SO far away that you really can't see them very well...they should have built the resort with a nice walkway around the savannah so you could see them more. There are great fire pits indoors and out. Overall the resort was "okay", but for the money I would stay at the Contemporary instead and take advantage of their great pools and the monorail. This resort was very far away from the Disney theme parks.

Our family arrived on Friday and left on Monday, we had a great time we spend most of the time in the hotel pool and other facilities.we ate at different restaurants which the hotel had. One of the days which was Sunday we went to Walt disney world with our family which we had a great time..The only thing we did not like was that the pool was too cold to enjoy but we went in anyways..This trip has been the best because our sons enjoy the view of all the animals..We had a relaxing and fun time.

This is a wonderful resort. We enjoyed the pool, animals, play area, ambiance, staff, and night vision animal viewing (the hotel room does not have night vision). The only downside was the construction that woke you up every morning. We had a room on the Ostrich trail with a Savannah view. The rooms are not small, but they are not large either. The kids loved the bunk beds. You do need to know that the cheapest rooms face the parking lot, and I would assume that the pool side rooms would not be the quietest since the pool is open until 11:00 PM. We got lucky and got upgraded. You might get tired of eating African food if you stay for several days, but at least one visit to Boma or Jiko is a must. If your kids are vegetarian the options are very limited at this resort, but this holds true for most of Disney World. Mac and cheese with grapes, cheese pizza, and grilled cheese sandwiches get old fast. Overall Boma is a good place for vegetarians.

The lodge is enchanting to the eye, especially for children. The entry hall is spacious and impressive. Our room was rather small, but generally clean. While pricey, the food is good, though not great. The food at the Boma restaurant was the by far the most flavorful. The food at Jiko, the other high brow restaurant, was more showy but far less tastey. Our kids enjoyed seeing the animals at the lodge and while it was a far cry from a real african safari lodge, it does achieve a pleasing effect. Many of the guides and staff are African college students with backgrounds studying wildlife biology and they were all very friendly and knowledgable about the animals. The free buses to the different Disney parks were convenient and came often. Be warned that if you get a standard room (at least one booked through a company other than Disney), there's a good chance you'll be overlooking the parking lot. If you ask for a room with a better view, you might get hit with an upgrade charge, even if you specifically are told that there will be no charge. That's what happened to us. And the front desk staff was very snarky and dishonest about it. It really left a sour taste at the end of what was otherwise an enjoyable vacation.

We went there for 5 nights in Mid May 2009. We stayed at the Savannah view room. The room was quite nice, not very big but comfortable with two clean queen beds and a very clean bathroom...no issues at all in that respect. Great view off of the balconoy and could see various animals throughout the day. Their pool is good enough, not extensive but fine. THe regular cafeteria is similar to other disney resorts, just ok...but their buffet, although pricey, is excellent. Staff is VERY friendly, helpful and available. We traveled with a 2year old and every time we were in our room she enjoyed the animals...much better than looking at a parking lot out your window. It is not a big resort type of hotel (i.e. vegas) but a good size lodge with enough to meet your needs. Better than the other various disney resorts we've stayed in...the Swan/Dolphin and other luxury ones are geared more towards adults, this one is luxury towards family. Don't have anything bad to say about it.

My wife and I have been to WDW and stayed at the AKL the past 3 years and couldn't have been happier. Yes, the rooms are a bit small and yes, the food is a bit pricey but both are well worth the $. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The lodge iteslf is fantastic starting with the lobby. We had been upgraded all three years to Savanaugh view rooms which are great for watching the animals. Buses are super convenient for getting to and from the parks. Overall this is the best place I have stayed. Would go back in a heartbeat. Just remember you are on vacation and at Disney World and nothing will bother you.

I only stayed overnight on business, but I really enjoyed the Animal Kingdom. I think they pull off the theme really well, and I absolutely loved having animals grazing just down from my balcony. I think the experience would be even greater for people who have kids. Definitely recommend this to anyone going to Orlando, whether you're a grown up or a kid, especially if you like animals. I had a great meal at the African restaurant.

The hotel staff was informative and very friendly. There were some animals, giraffes, zebras, oxen, and an africa deer. We thought the hotel was connected to the park, so we expected to see more animals. There are plenty of animal viewing places throughout the hotel, so a Savannah room view is not necessary. There are two hotels in the complex, so make sure you check out both.

Great experience. Savannah room offers close up of animals, however it is costly especially if most of your time is spent out of the room Great staff, beautiful resort, viewing spots for animals throughout the resort for all guests.

The staff was very nice and very helpful. The front desk always had a smile and very friendly. The pool was great, they always had clean towels and never a bad spot to sit at the pool. They had many buses too take you to the park. My only two problems were that our room was a long walk from the lobby, and you could hear the toilets flush all hours of the night.

We stayed in the Animal Kingdom Lodge 11/09/2008 - 11/12/2008. The hotel was amazing. Upon arrival, we were given a free upgrade to a Savannah Room and the view was breathtaking. We had giraffes, zebras, ankole cattle and other animals right in front us. The staff was very accomadating and friendly. The restaurants were delicious. Can't wait to return!

We took our 2 college student daughters for some Disney fun. We chose to stay at the Animal Kingdom Jamba Lodge for its uniqueness and the savanna setting. When we arrived, we were given an upgrade (we didn't ask)and the suite was fabulous! In Disney fashion, the design and appointments of the lodge and the rooms were incredible. Not one detail was omitted. Watching the animals was fascinating! We could not have had a better experience!

Staying on the Concierge Level, they're really serious when they greet you with a cheerful "Welcome Home". From the Bellmen to the Itinerary Reps, you feel they are there just for you. Quietly they escort you pass the Front Desk, straight to the Concierge Level Lounge on the 6th Flr. For the extra money, your family will reward you for staying at the Concierge Level. Deluxe accommodations with an excellent Savanna View, the grandeur of an African-themed lobby, and activities abound at this ALL-U-Can DO Resort. The Kilimanjaro Lounge offers tasteful snacks (free all day) which can easily turn into a meal. The Smoothies are irresistible with food variety changes daily. Rooms have small refrigerators, but ours was OFF and never cooled properly, so we just made the trek back to the Kilimanjaro Lounge for fresh drinks of all kinds. Do not leave without viewing the rare artifacts and ask for Miss PEACE who is a warm and knowledgeable African guide. The grounds are meticulously landscaped for comfort and access. You never get the sense this is actually a zoo of sorts. All animals are amazingly healthy as the caregivers are inspired by their curator. The one hour SUNRISE SAFARI for Concierge Level guests is great, but for an extra $55.00. The same tour can be taken during the day(fewer animals) at the Animal Kingdom Park in less time, but incl. with admission ticket. The SAFARI includes a one of a kind killer breakfast buffet. Overall service was near perfect at the Boma restaurant. One major negative, even with our parking permit and room card, Security asked us 'what did we want' upon returning from late nite shopping. We're African-Americans. This was our Fastpass back to reality. Though the fantasy abruptly ended, reality says we had a great time!
