This hotel is known for it's GIANT bath tubs! I had heard great things about this hotel from friends for years, but never stayed until recently. The idea that the hotel was located in a mall parking lot left something to be desired. However, I found that once inside, the location didn't matter & actually it was quite convenient for shopping. I was pleasantly suprised to find that the beds were cozy, the rooms very large & the little things like coffee pot & sundries were better than average. The bathroom has a spa feeling and is huge! The only thing this hotel lacks compared to others is exercise facilities & pool/hot tub. The front desk will give you a complimentary pass to a gym located in the mall next door, but I haven't done that yet. I have already stayed here a few times now & plan on going again tomorrow. Totally worth the winter rates, but I would avoid it during the summer when the rates triple!

room itself ok, however location in a parking lot between a Walmart and a mall not great. Large tub, but phone booth size shower. No morning paper. Breakfeast fais but minimal seating. Some first floor rooms below street level, with bus and truck tires rolling by 6 feet from ground level window. There are many better values in Anchorage for less than the * a night it cost to stay at the Dimond.

Our room was extremely comfortable, my husband LOVED the tub the next morning and i LOVED the shower and the aveda soaps and shampoos and lotions. the room was not brand new--there were some stains on the carpet and a hole in the shower stall and the furniture looked worn, but it was very clean and the bed was wonderful. our flight got in at 10:45 pm, and we just picked up a courtesy phone at the airport, told the hotel we were there, and a free hotel shuttle was there for us in 15-20 minutes. that was great--no worries about hiring a cab. NOTE TO VISITORS--there are other buses labelled "DIMOND" or "DIAMOND", so make sure you don't jump on a city bus by mistake! front desk staff was very good, friendly and knowledgeable. next morning we went down to breakfast--it was a pretty standard selection, waffles, cereals, muffins, but very good, especially the hard boiled eggs which seemed as though someone had just made them. usually at motels the eggs are cold and rubbery, these were hot and just barely hard-boiled, not tough. at A LOT of anchorage hotels you do not get complimentary breakfast, oh, and the coffee was WONDERFUL!!!! there is a big indoor shopping mall right on the same parking lot. MY RATING= 3 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stay in hotels all over Anchorage while in on business. The Dimond Center Hotel is THE nicest in town. The rooms are perfection. If I ever redesign my own bedroom it will be based on the design here. HUGE floating tub with a window you can open so you can actually watch TV from the tub. Rooms are immaculate, modern, clean, quiet and just feel new. Bedding and mattresses are top of the line and just divine. All rooms have large screen TVs, free wireless internet and small refrigerators. Parking is free and abundant. There is also a walk-in cooler for guest use-- so if you are on a fishing or hunting trip you can use that space if you ask the front desk. Folks from rural Alaska enjoy this hotel because we can shop and stock up while in town and then bob in the tub to relax afterwards or catch a movie at the Dimond Center a short walk across the parking lot. For someone in Alaska on vacation the only (and I mean only) drawback to the hotel is that you are not within walking distance of any good restaurants or in the downtown scene. The hotel is not cheap, but unlike many of the aging hotels downtown you actually get what you pay for here. I have stayed at all the midtown hotels (Courtyard, Residence Inn, Hampton, Homewood, Days Inn, Puffin, Millenium, and I am sure a couple others) and downtown at Captain Cook, Sheraton & Hilton. This is by far the nicest place and our all time favorite.

Nice Hotel, Very clean and spacious and comfortable room - very nice Bed and large usable bath and shower for hannicap as reguired. Failed Orbitz reservation on record at the Hotle led to alteritive travel to the Hotel for elder wife and paid for on seperat account????? the Hotel had accomidations for her untill I could arrive - but Orbitz fail to or hotel fail to coridnate this action. The Stress and extra discomfort leaves a bad taste with us for Orbitz/Diamond Hotel. All worked out OK - took a few emails and some phone calls to get both Charges combined to 1, only, 45 days or so - but .... unexpetabale - on both behalf! I would recomend the rooms at Diamond, but not the booking thu Orbitz with this location. We, have used orbits before with fine results.. but with Diamond Hotel, not to smooth ????????

Room was great. Spacious, had a desk, good lighting, large TV, great bed. Soaking tub AND shower. Robe provided. Continental breakfast was adequate. Wireless internet was down and front desk personnel had no idea when it would be fixed and couldn't help with using dataport ""line 2"". Free use of sports club in mall next door was nice. Excellent price during winter.

Anchorage is our gateway to where we are going, which usually involves a many hour plane ride. We like to fly into Anchorage early and stay at the hotel until time to go back to the airport. My husband likes to take a soak in their spa size tub which has folded doors that open to view their large TV. My daughter and I like to go to the big Diamond Mall which is a block away. The free breakfast is great and a nice way to meet other hotel guests. The shuttle service is a plus, especially in the winter when driving a rental car is less than desirous. Staff are nice, especially van drivers. The only negative experience I have ever had at this hotel is the flucuation in their pricing for the same room.

I chose this hotel because of the advertised soaking tub; I was not disspointed. I stayed the first week of the off-season and the hotel rate was less than half the rate of the in-season. The lobby is perhaps the best feature of the hotel. It is very guest friendly and offers a spectacular view of the Chugach Mountains. The furniture is an intersting shade of green and blue. The staff, when asked, offered great suggestions for dining and activities. The rooms come equipped with a microwave and refrigerator and individual climate control. The bathroom is spacious with the soaking tub and separate shower. The decorations in the room are unique. The hotel is situated between the mall and a Wal-Mart. Anchorage has its share of coffee stores, drive by coffee kiosks and of course, lots of liquor stores. All are within an easy walk of the hotel. Easy access to the Seward Hwy and dowtown Anhorage. I would definitely stay here again.

The Dimond Center Hotel was wonderful! The bed was super . . .not the usual rock hard bed that most hotels have. . the sheets were high count cotton with a down comforter. And the soaking tub in the bathroom was great! Just what we needed after a long day of travel. It was just minutes from the airport. . not a great part of Anchorage but we really weren't there long enough to check out the neighboring stores. We will definitely stay there the next time we are in town.

After traveling 15 hours across country falling into the "dream bed" was a welcomed pleasure. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Excellent breakfast too. We will stay again.

The carpet was worn, the rooms were very dark and the bathroom arrangement poor. It was very pricey. To be fair, however, the bed was wonderful. It was comfortable and softer than most hotel beds. There was a shuttle service to the airport and that was very helpful. Downtown required either a taxi or public transportation.

The Dimond Ctr Hotel was very comfortable, the rooms were very well appointed and furnished. My wife and I would stay again. The value is very good. We made the mistake of arriving after midnight. Unfortunatly, the shuttle took 45 mins to come get us....a ten minute drive. Upon arrival we were bombarded with the front desk persons outrage that Starbucks refuses to send coffee to our troops in Iraq, and that we should not buy there. The Starbucks in our neck of the woods shows our troops drinking their coffee in pictures on the walls of our local shop. Great Hotel...just arrive during the day and not late at night. The day staff were very friendly and attentive.

This is a lovely property in an unattractive location (which happened to be extremely convenient for me). Room was spacious, well-appointed with luxury touches. Staff courteous and helpful--such as finding a huge vase for the tulips I arrived with. Bathroom enormous with a grand soaking tub. The location, smack in the middle of the Dimond Center parking lot, is no thrill unless you need to be shopping in the Dimond Center or have other reasons to be in this part of Anchorage.

The rooms are spacious, and beautifully designed and decorated. The beds are very comfortable, both mattress and linens, as well as pillows. They provide large, thicky, comfy robes. And the bathtubs are the very best part, they are huge and in the spa rooms they are jetted. Highly recommend this hotel. Also staff was great.
