The only real draw back was that this specific room was located on the upper ploors and without A/C became fairly warm by about 2-3 hours after sun up which wasn't a great draw back as I was generally out of the room most of the day however it would take several hours after the sun had set for the room to cool down to a respectable level. There was no windows that were able to be opened or this probably would not have been an issue.

Value for money. Great location near to central train station, dam square and many eateries/cafe near hotel. Conveniently located. What I like most is the the tram station that is located right in front of the hotel. Also wireless internet was available free at front lobby. Fan available in room though a "bigger" fan could be appreciated.

Rooms are a little small however spotlessly clean and in a superb location, the public areas and restuarant is excellent.

This was such a great hotel. Great location, right behind Dam Square, close to Ann Frank Museum, Central Station and great shopping area. Best thing about the hotel was the brasserie downstairs. The food was excellent, with great service. We ate there twice, we liked it so much. Our room was big, but ask for a room where the windows open, or preferably the ones with balconies. Our windows didn't open, and there was no a/c but they did have a fan. Was a little hot but not uncomfortable. The beds and bedding were fabulous, nice size bathroom too. We travel alot for business and pleasure and like to stay in nice hotels so for the price, location and comfort of this hotel, we would definitely stay here again.

Die Port van Cleve Hotel Amsterdam is located in walking distance of all old-town sites. The room for two was much too cramped and the two beds we ordered were really two mattresses moved together. There was no separation, only separate sheets and blankets. The dinner was far too expensive if compared to other restaurants nearby.

Reception and restaurant was very impressive but as soon as we got out of the lift it was clear that all the reviews of this hotel were correct - there is now way I would class this as a 4 star - more like a 2 in my opinion. Room was tatty, windows didnt open, very small and noise from the corridoor wasvery loud. Very good location but I wont be staying there again!!

A colleague and I stayed here for one night enroute to Africa. We pondered whether it was worthwhile going into the city for just one night, but on checking out the location of the Port Van Cleve, we decided it was an easy walk from the train station. We opted to check our luggage at the airport (10 Euros for all our bags), carry only the items we needed for overnight, and take the train (which runs every 15 minutes) to the main station. The plan worked like a charm. The hotel is quite charming (though the rooms are nothing exceptional). We took a nice long walk through the city to stretch our legs after a long flight, enjoyed the city sights, and then returned to the hotel's historic bar for a drink. Our very sweet waiter told us that the menu in the bar was the same as in the hotel restaurant, and recommended just stay put instead of moving to the restaurant. We took his recommendation and ordered one of the Dutch specialties, which seemed to go very well with the beer and Genever we were drinking. All in all it was a great choice and one I'd definitely repeat if traveling through Amsterdam again.

Not a bad place, clean, good location, good breakfast. A bit pricey for the room size and amenities, very slow elevator. I would probably stay here again, but would look for a lower price first.

Excellent hotel located at a stonethrow from the Damrak. Rooms are excellent but be aware that if you stay in those located on the front, you will have to bear the incessant noise and rattle of the tramways from the early morning till late at night .
