Nice hotel, handy for the city centre.My partner and I had a very nice stay at the devonshire house hotel. It was a very friendly welcoming hotel, the staff were very helpful and chatty, willing to deal with any queries they could help with.I must admit I was more impressed with the price I got the room for, rather than the actual hotel, I booked the hotel late on Friday evening just before heading there.The hotel interior (and exterior to some extent) reminded us somewhat of "The Shining", if you have seen that film you might know what I mean, it is an older building with dated furnature, especially in the bar, but it is fully functional and a great place to relax.

Arriving we thought we had booked into the Psycho home of Norman Bates, but then realised this was the Devonshire House Pub Boarded up windows .....looked very inviting!!!!!!!! the hotel was behind the pub. No warm greeting from the receptionist in fact found her quite rude, although she did inform us breakfast was not included in our internet price, we could purchase at £9.95 each but she advised us not to must thank her for that. we asked her to book us a taxi for later which she did. The decor in the hotel was shabby, Arrggh carpet in the bathroom. Our taxi did not arrive and the receptionist was not interested,too busy chatting on the telephone. To get the feel of what it would be like moving into a Nursing / Residential Home then book in the Devonshire House because that is what it felt and smelt like. On the plus side the bedding was clean and crisp. Reasonably priced but had we paid the advertised price not so. All in all not a very enjoyable experience.

Accomodation was excellent, the hotel is excellent repair and the room was very well appointed. The free wi-fi was appreciated but the signal was very weak in my room. I had breakfast and evening meal, breakfast was reasonable but limited to what is suitable for a buffet. The evening meal menu was limited, the food quality very average and the service slow and rather surly. I would saty again but I would probably eat elsewhere.

Beware the Bathroom!Room very minimally furnished and not very clean, but with comfortable beds.Did not risk a shower as bath very slippery and no mat provided. Also lacking a loo brush and somewhere to hand towels.Breakfast very expensive with limited menu.Room service menu items mostly unavailable when ordered.

Only one chair and one glass in the twin room, shower tray mildew quite bad.Generally OK for an overnight stay.

Hot hot hot....The staff were friendly, if a little unhelpful. My mother is disabled and we were given a top floor room, despite asking for a ground or 1st floor one. I was told that there was a lift so it would be ok.. fine unless theres a fire and the lifts are not to be used! The room was unbearably hot and despite a comfortable bed even with the room windows open we were unable to sleep.

Very disappointingMy stay at the devonshire hotel was not what i expect from a hotel in that price range. To start with the staff were indifferent. I then arrived in my room which was small to say the least (one of my party stayed in a single room which cost less and was much bigger than my double room!) There was damp across the whole cieling in the bathroom. The shower was broken and there was no cold water coming out of the sink tap. I saw damp on the walls in the corridor as well. my whole experience was topped off by seeing a chef smoking by a door way (but still inside) just after breakfast. The hotel gives the impression that no one cares about it. Very sad as the building on the outside is beautiful as is the garden.

The Devonshire!This was my first visit to Liverpool and the devonshire was a good place to stay it was only about 3miles outside of Liverpool. The Devonshire was a clean and friendly hotel, albeit slightly dated in decor and the food was good but you got what you paid for. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times and the room was confortable although we were staying while some builders were and they were slightly louder than the other guests! - A good choice for a one or two night stay.

you get what you pay for, so no complaintsBreakfast was palatable but saved us going out, dinner disapointing and should have gone out, room comfortable. Only a 10 min. bus ride to City centre so ideally located with ample free parking. We would stay here again and would recomend it, but only if your expectations are not to high .

More travelodge than chatsworthThis hotel is set in a lovely garden and near an extensive park. The building has had an interesting history and is somewhat imposing. I think there has been a recent refurbishment because there was a smell of fresh paint, and paint on the carpet too. Information for guests was missing from the room. Thinking about this review I thought; \"This is Travelodge without the frills\". Absolutely nothing wrong but characterless. Similarly the dining room. The dinner was very poor but the breakfast adequate if a bit expensive.

Cheap accommodation but fit for purposeThe accommodation is pretty basic but it is clean and perfectly good for a short stay at a low price.In fact, given how close it is to the City Centre, this hotel is a bargain if all you need is somwhere to sleep.Free WiFi is an added bonus

Good dealStayed at the Devonshire after finding on Laterooms. Hotel easy to find, good service upon arrival, room a lil basic but did the job. Good service again for transport links to city centre. Food arrived in large portions and felt bad leaving lots but good vfm.Overall enjoyable but place could do with lick of paint and a lil regeneration.

Great value for money.The hotel made you feel so welcome, very modern yet had a good sense of history bout the place too, the grounds were lovely, and we enjoyed sitting out in them in the evening, the customer service was pleasent and the room was of a good size, nice en-suite, very clean and plenty of hot water. Great if your on a night out in liverpool, taxis was around £6 per trip into city center and we had a really good night out, 24hr reception made it easy to come back to hotel at any hour, I will be recommending to a friend and staying there again in the near future.

good valueApart from the rather unfriendly reception staff, I was surprised by the cleaniness of the room even though quite basic.It was good value for money as a similarly rated hotel I stayed in within the city centre was worse. it is an aging property in need of new decor but it's okay if on a budget.Try to ignore the bored and unfriendly reception staff.

mersey 10kcame to liverpool to run the mersey 10k. Booked thru late rooms. Hotel reception very efficient and friendly, room a bit dated and could do with an update but very clean, sealant around the bath bit mouldy but otherwise very tidy. Very run down area houses all around are boarded up. Beautiful gardens and grounds around the hotel are immaculate. Nice and quiet.
