Description:
Nestled among the towering peaks surrounding Lake Louise, Deer Lodge has been treating travellers to true mountain hospitality for more than 60 years. Set within the warm environment of log, brick and stone, we offer cozy, comfortable lodging and award winning Rocky Mountain Cuisine.
We began in 1921 as a Log Teahouse known as the Lake Louise Trading Co and in 1925 added our first guest rooms. Today we haven't lost our original charm. Recalling the Lodges early beginnings, some of our 73 rooms are furnished with Antiques, others have balconies and all have down comforters to snuggle under.
Visit our dining room and savour our renowned authentic Rocky Mountain Cuisine, featuring game items from our game farm, such as Elk, Buffalo, Caribou and Venison. Or enjoy Afternoon Tea, light snacks, a glass of wine from our Wine Spectators awarded wine list. Just across the street, hiking trails beckon in summer, and cross country ski trails/ snowshoeing trails in winter.
Later, relax in front of our stone fireplace, enjoy a quiet moment in our cedar sauna or gaze at the stars over Victoria Glacier from our outdoor rooftop hot tub. It will take your breath away. View Deer Lodge online at WWW.crmr.com. This Historic Lodge is minutes from Lake Louise and convenient for downhill and cross country skiing, hiking and a myriad of outdoor activities.

Excellent response to overheated room problem. The location is superb, close to Lake Louise. The newer rooms are fantastic. Upper management for the resorts and the manager resolve problems efficiently with much grace.

This hotel is steps from the Chateau Lake Louise, so you can rely on its shops and services while dining and sleeping someplace far more intimate and relaxing. The level of service is subtle, it takes a while to see what is offered, including Internet access. But the rooms vary greatly in age, size, and features, and it's hard to get a handle on just what you're getting for your price category. If you're adaptable about the room itself and choose the hotel for its location, you'll probably be satisfied at least.

The wash room is out of order. It's blocked and the sink had been empty. The front first day was unfriendly. He did not want to tell us about the facility. The front next day was friendly and polite.

Comfortable room, crosscountry skiing right out the front door, large public room to warm up after a ski, good clean hot tub. Other guests are friendly, interesting people. Why spend 300 a night more for the stuffy hotel up the road ?

It is close to lake Louise, the famous spot. Good for ski. I do not know how they design their food menu and set the prices? I think the management in this hotel should be changed. They basically think that they get a very good location, so the customers should accept whatever they offer (especially for the food).

The location is great, just in back of the Fairmont Lake Louise property. Within walking distance of Lake Louise. Rooms are very small and hotel is old.

Clean, friendly staff. Noisy, paper thin walls. Deer Lodge, Lake Louise. Our room had paper thin walls. You could hear a whispered conversation next door. Bring earplugs in case your neighbor is a snorer or has a cough we had one of each next door. Lots of traffic noise too. Rooms are very hot, and we slept on top of the sheets even with the windows wide open this is in February. Room is small and rustic but nice. Staff is very friendly, food is good, beds are hard but ok, room was spotless, excellent location right beside Lake Louise.

Deer Lodge has a great location, less than a five minute walk from Lake Louise. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the building has the rustic charm typical of national park lodges built 100 years ago. I found the "oldness" very appealing, part of the charm, especially when compared to the uninspired monolith just up the road next to the lake. There is ample free parking for all registered guests at the lodge which is very much appreciated when viewing the long, long line of cars trying to get into the Lake Louise parking lot. The rooms in the old section are small but very comfortable, pleasantly decorated, and functional; the rooms in the new section are significantly larger and are typical of a nice motel. The food in the dining room is quite good and a cut above most restaurants in the area. With some of the world's best scenery and best hiking in the immediate area does anyone really need a television? My husband and I are repeat customers and plan to go back again this summer.

Our room wasn't much bigger than needed for furnishings, which were definitely "old school" - but we were within easy walking distance of Lake Louise - the only other hotel in the immediate vicinity is the Chateau Lake Louise, which costs about 3 times as much per night! With a sitting room, nice dining room, hot tub with a GREAT view, and other amenities, Deer Lodge is clearly based on the notion that you spend time in your room mostly to sleep. Considering the costs of other hotels in the area, I think Deer Lodge has a lot to offer, as long as you don't mind an older, small room.

Nothing, it was horrible. No bell service, no elevator, no air conditioning, no decent food, worn out bed, etc. No prudent traveler would consider this hotel, if they had any idea what they were getting into. Parking away from entrance, had to carry luggage up and down stairs, no bell service. Room was so small couldn't walk around, with one wooden slat back chair. Bed bowed in the middle. No air conditioning. Dining room only had wild game and chicken on the menu at outrageous prices of $25-$40. It was so disagreeable we checked out at daylight, although we were supposed to stay another night, with no reservation for another place, but with the thought that we would rather sleep in the car than spend another minute in this deplorable hotel.

You can't bet the location since your only other option to stay this close to Lake Louise would cost 400 a night or more. You can easily walk to the lake. The rooms were very musty-smelling and basic (no phone or tv). We ate in the lounge, and the food we had was the best of our whole trip.

Location, great view from ht tub. Restaurant top quality. 2 Twin Bed Room quite small. Rooms were dated. For longer stay, would recommend a larger room than 2 twin - the cheapest room. The hotel was a very short walk to Lake and only 1 hotel was closer and was much more expensive. Parking is a problem at Lake Louise so any other hotel would have required a long walk to the lake. No TV, room small, and somewhat rustic but the food was definitely gourmet, the view was great and the hot tub with a view of the glacier was quite nice. I would definitely stay again but in a larger room.

"The lodge is within walking distance of Lake Louise so the long wait for the Lake Louise public parking lot is avoided. The lodge rooms are small, attractively decorated and functional. The lodge restaurant food is good, beautiful views from the restaurant windows. The lodge is a great place to stay if sight-seeing and hiking are your priorities, and you want a convenient, comfortable place to stay that is quaint, attractive. The grounds are nicely landscaped, lots of beautiful flowers. The price of the rooms is reasonable."

"It's a very expensive area, so this is reasonable relative to some of the others. The room was small and hot, but the service was good. Not a bad place to stay."

"Ask for a room looking out at mt, not courtyard. Beautiful! Rooms very small, not room for much suitcase storage. No AC, phone, TV or elevator. Sink has 2 separate faucets with rubber stopper. Bed uncomfortable. Room very plain, good for hikers. Typical looking lodge, rustic. Wooden stairs creek. Eat at Bill Peytos nearby."

"quant hotel, but the room was too small, the river too loud, and the bed was only a full size and very uncomfortable. probably the only reason that this hotel costa so much is because of it's close proxity to lake louise. we will stay in banff next time."
