The Decameron Cartagena is an all-inclusive resort situated on Bocagrande Beach in Cartagena de Indias, on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, approximately a ten-minute drive from the international airport. Hotel amenities include currency exchange, nursery, massage services, laundry, tour assistance, transportation to San Pedro Caf Restaurant and the Rosario Islands, travel agency, discotheque, boutique, jewelry store, and swimming pool. There are five onsite restaurants including Alibech's, Bocaccio, Galeotto, San Pedro Caf, and Ciacco's. There are also three bars, Biondellos, the Beach Bar, and Jungla Lobby Bar. The hotel was an amazing deal compared to the Hilton.. etc. There was a lot of construction surrounding the hotel, which was quite annoying in the mornings. Mostly Spanish speaking guests. Vendors can be very annoying, but very nice. Definitely worth the money if you are trying to save a buck to spend in the old town.

Two Colombian friends from Bogota and I (American from San Francisco) stayed at the Decameron in October 2008. My Colombian friends booked the hotel & I just went along with no expectations. I really liked the Decameron. It was the first time I ever stayed at an all inclusive place and was pleasantly surprised. All food and drink is free so that added up to a HUGE savings during our stay. There are 3 restaurants to choose from so one does not get bored with the food. The Decameron has a connection with a restaurant in the walled city and my companions and I enjoyed a lovely Teppan-yaki style dinner one evening - all included with our package. This is not a luxury hotel. The rooms are basic, clean and comfortable. See the website photos. Everyone I encountered on the staff was professional, polite and helpful and most spoke English. Having cable TV with English language stations was nice. Security is very good so no riff raff gets into the hotel or the grounds. The Bocagrande neighborhood is swarming with street vendors trying to sell tourists trinkets, faux Rolex watches, jewelry, CDs, t-shirts, sunglasses, you name it. The hotel put on a different dance show at 9PM each night by the pool. One night the theme was African, another 1950s American with jitterbugging, and another night Argentine tango. Each show lasted about an hour and, yes, it was free as well. And the dancers were great. I would definitely stay there again. Regarding the comment on the air conditioning being too cold in the room, I just moved the louvers UP and the air did not blow on me directly. Before I did that, it was FREEZING.

for the money you pay its great! food and service excellent elevators slow, asked for balcony, but recieved one the 2nd nite food is pretty unlmitted during feeding times no where for nite snacks has basic enteraiment shows almost everynite room is cold with a switch not thermostat? elevators are slow ,we mean it if you have a late flight out they are nice enough to let you use phacilties, but no where to get changed in comfort like a locker room, used pools shower, and then changed in toilet room overall i like decameron because they always solve probles during your stay!

There are only 3 restaurants on site. There are no massage or nursery services. If you were to compare this all inclusive destination with any all inclusive from Dominican Republic, you won't even come close. Don't waist your time with this one, go to the Dominican Republic instead. Cartagena is very expensive, and they will try to rip you off at the local markets; so you have to be strong and stick to your guns. ALWAYS PAY IN COLOMBIAN PESOS, AND ALWAYS OFFER TO PAY AT LEAST 10 TO 15 POINTS UNDER THE ASKED PRICE. YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG, BUT YOU HAVE TO REALLY STCIK TO YOUR GUNS. BRING A CALCULATOR!!!!! Everybody is going to try to sell you something, therefore, you have to be firm but polite when you tell them that you are not interested. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, BUY ANYTHING AT BARU OR ANY OF THE OTHER ISLANDS DIRECTLY FROM THE LCOCALS, AND IF YOU MUST, ALWAYS PAY AT LEAST 30 PESOS UNDER THE ASKED PRICE. LOCALS WILL BOTHER YOU ONLY IF YOU LET THEM, BE FIRM BUT POLITE. There is a lot to do in the city, and I garantee you will have a blast like I did, although I was not impress by the hotel or the ammenities.

Estuvimos en el Decameron de Cartagena durante diez d?as durante nuestra luna de miel y realmente pasamos un tiempo maravilloso. El hotel, los restoranes y la gente del Decameron son geniales. No dejen de aprovechar de ir a comer al restor?n San Pedro que tambi?n ofrecen pero que est? fuera del hotel, los pasan a buscar en bus y los llevan hasta la ciudad amurallada donde queda el restor?n, don't miss it!!! Hasta te atienden en la playa porque all? disponen de una barra con tragos y reposeras para las personas que se hospedan en el hotel y queda justo frente a ?l. Realmente la pasamos muy bien y tiene tres restoranes para disfrutar en el hotel, adem?s de masajes y gente preciosa que te atienden b?rbaro. Lo recomiendo

"Cartagena is expensive and you can't beat the price for what you get here.. all meals and cocktails included for 2 people. Breakfast buffet was superb! Check in time is very strict 3PM. Also bought some fair priced tours and had a great time in this city. Recommend reading all lit in your room to understand how the hotel experience works. Taxi airport to hotel is about 13,000 COP. Pool closes at 6PM and great shows in pool area at night."
