fine, one night in Seattle

The beds were awesome! Slept the whole night without waking up. Parking. Pleasantly surprised with the room. Very cool place to stay - art deco-ish. Nothing negative to say.

The hotel staff was GREAT! They were extremely friendly and ready to help with anything you needed. Lot of homeless/mentally ill people around outside, but it's the U-District, so what are ya gonna do? Two minor things---We constantly had to mess with the cords in the back of the TV to get a clear picture, and the water pressure in the shower was horrible. All in all, stayed two nights and had a great, relaxing stay.

The Decca is a fabulous, big city "quaint" hotel located near the UW campus. I loved the quirky decor, the extremely friendly and helpful desk staff and the spacious, quiet room. Every room has a view and is light and cheery. The bed was exceptionally large and comfortable. I was surprised that the restaurant/bar closed very early on a Sat. nite(due to lack of customers I was told), however, we were able to get a glass of wine and sit and enjoy the fireplace in the delightful lobby. I enjoyed the Tully's Coffee Shop located adjacent to the front desk, however,I was disappointed in the daily parking fee charged for hotel guests.

Hotel Deca is a great alternative to staying downtown or in other touristy areas of Seattle. If you have a car, it is 10 minutes to downtown, Space Needle, etc. Comfortable, attractive, hip hotel. Staff friendly and accommodating. Wash Univ is close by, some shopping and restaurants. Didn't eat at hotel but restaurant and bar very attractive. Had 3 children with us and they enjoyed it (but no pool).

The staff (Wesley) even took the time to give directions over the phone while I was enroute to the hotel...

Convenient. We had a full bed for 2 large people. Some of the time the elevator did not work and took you to a different floor. No ice on every floor.

Charming and modest hotel with great staff. Rooms clean and comfortable. Very close to University Ave eateries which feature tastety, yet affordable food. Trip to downtown longer than expected. Bus service excellent but it's a $15 cab ride one way. Available shuttle not too convenient since has to be booked hours in advance which is something you don't want to have to do while on vacation. But, you're away from all the hubbub when you want to sleep. I'd give it 3 1/2 stars.

The main problem with this hotel is the building. The people are great, the location is OK its in a University district, lots of bars, lots of low priced atractions (movies, record stores, repeat shops). However, the builiding is old probably from the 20's and they have done every thing possible to update it but the age still shows. The rooms are very small, the bathrooms are increadibly small, and the elevators are slow.

Hotel is nice--2nd stay there. Rooms always clean and neat. Elevators superb and breakfast menu at downstairs good. Desk staff informed, courteous, and desire to be helpful.

Nothing. Front desk blamed for overbooking the hotel. Hotel was selected based on proximity to University District. When we were re booked at substandard hotel outside of area, I was done. On arrival, our reservation was not honored. We were forwarded to substandard hotel, outside of the district I bid on. Hotel we were sent to had ongoing construction activities that disrupted our stay as well. We have not been provided accommodations specified. We were up charged for additional guest (beyond one). Reservation was not honored. No longer worth the effort.

Pros: Beautiful hotel, phenomenal modern rooms decorated with Z Gallery accents, great location near funky shops, restaurants, and a super cool movie theater with old school balcony; pristine bathrooms, excellent modern ipod alarm and flat screen TV. Comfy, clean, quiet. Paid for a city room and got a 4th floor room with an amazing view of the city/skyline/space needle. Really helpful staff. Free internet and printing. Free transportation to the city center. Cons: 6/per day parking fee. Service was so poor in the hotel restaurant that we gave up on waiting to be served and left in the rain to eat in a neighboring restaurant.

Staff were very warm and helpful when we first arrived late at night. They also were very accommodating in getting us a refrigerator that night to stor our perishables. Rooms were very clean and nice. Location was great in walking distance to various eatteries and near to UW as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay again at the Hotel Deca.

The hotel was clean, no odor, comfy, free internet, staff was helpful, and had a great view. Wished it had a swimming pool or spa. This hotel was great. The staff was helpful when needed. The room was roomy and had lots of space. The bed was comfortable as well as the pillows. The decorations added a good accent to the room. The location was close to a strip of stores (university ave). My boyfriend and I enjoyed it so much we extended our stay.

When we arrived it was an extremely warm day. When we got in the room we noticed the ac was on but hot air was coming out of the vents. When we notified the front desk we were told to open the windows. I replied are you nuts, it is 95 degrees outside. They said thats is all they could do becuase they were sold out. After insisting to speak to the manager they put me on hold for 15 minutes. When the manager took my call all he said was "I can't do anything". We left and when to another hotel.

In town for University graduation. Hotel staff very good. View from corner room window very nice. Bathroom very, very small with almost no counter space. Very thin (inexpensive) toilet paper. However, bathroom very clean and caulk around tub in excellent condition. Few electric plug outlets. Had to charge cell phone using bathroom outlet. Closet large, but no light fixture in closet. Chest-of-drawers type of furniture in closet, but did not use due to lack of light fixture. Lots of large decorative pillows on beds, but they had to be moved to use the beds. We put the pillows on the chair, but I assume others would simply throw them on the floor so that they could use the chair. Nice coffee shop near check-in counter.

Central location near UW. Amenities. Overall a nice place with its strength being the location close the UW campus, right off University Ave close to many ethnic restaurants and central enough to the Zoo, downtown, and Seattle's sights. Traveled with the family in adjoining rooms and had a nice city view.

I had an excellent stay at the Hotel Deca. It is just on the edge of the U district and amazingly close to downtown. The service and staff were excellent. The hotel is very secure. Your room key will only let you enter the floor you are staying on. My room was excellent. The bed was very comfortable. I was most impressed with the views out my window, excellent views of Lake Union and Downtown. I will stay again and give the hotel high recommendations.

We had so much fun in Seattle and thanks to the shuttle van we had much more time to enjoy our trip. We are not very seasoned travelers, the shuttle ride and directions saved us money and frustration. Thanks a ton.
