From the moment we arrived at the hotel the service was fantastic!! I cannot say enough about the staff. They were friendly and very helpful. We had a little problem with a stuck shower door and within minutes maintence was there to fix it. He was the best!! The room was great. Lots of space and very clean. The turn down service with chocolate and water was a nice touch. We were 3 adults and had plenty of room. The hotel is in a great location. We walked to Centre Bell for Beyonce, and walked down to Old Montreal as well. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. The rooftop bar was fun for a drink. Our room had a balcony with a great view of the city. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Great hotel, thanks to all!!

Hotel was decently upscale, staff were quite friendly and helpful, and our room was in good condition. We were excited about the rooftop pool, which was nice in the mornings when only guests were allowed to use it. However after noon on the weekends it was a big bar scene up there. 50 people sitting around the pool drinking, with like 2 people in the pool itself. There were also tons of pool bar patrons filling the elevators and lobby constantly.

Close to everything you need, especially shopping. The hotel was very elegant and in a great location for everything that you would need or want to do, especially shopping. The rooms were very spacious and clean and I loved the his and her sinks. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

I booked this hotel online armed only with the reviews from this website, and I'm very glad I did. Great place to stay, friendly staff, clean rooms and smack in the middle of downtown Montreal. Lots of places to eat and play within walking distance. One thing though, LOCK YOUR DOOR. As one reviewer warned earlier, a maid opened my door on the first day right after knocking to give me chocolates and a bottle of water. I guess when I responded verbally, she took it to mean "Come on in". The DO NOT DISTURB sign means very little to the house-keeping staff, but this incident was easily over-looked by me, may be because I was fully clothed and the rest of my stay was very good. Parking as of my stay last week was * for cars and * for trucks, but all things considered, it was a great deal. Will most definitely stay there again in the future... Can't wait!

Good hotel. Satisfactory location. Convenient to many museums. We never used our car although for a stay of more than a few days the car is recommended to get to many old city sites.

Location. Unclean room when checked in, smelled like smoke, TV remote did not work.

We were welcomed at the hotel very quickly and shown to our room. The bellhop gave us suggestions of what to do in the area and how to get to different areas of interest.Items are higher because of tax so when you get the bill expect about 15% more than what the price says. It is not the tip but a good rule of thumb for good service it to leave about what the tax was and that will be about 15%, I found that god to know.Lots of things to do and see within walking distance of the hotel and there is always a cab waiting if you want to go farther.

The staff is friendly, the hotel is very confortable, with great personality. If you could see a picture of the lobby you would know what I meant. It is in the middle of everything, but on a quieter street, right around the corner is a street with bars that are very nice and that have outdoor seeating. The beds were wonderful, the balcony was nice.

A wonderful hotel and great value for the money. Tremendous old world charm and a staff that acts like they've known you for years. Great location within easy walking of activities, bars and restaurants. On site there is a quiet bar with piano player and happy hour two-for-one prices every evening from 5 - 8 pm and on the roof, a lively bar, patio and swimming pool. The onsite restaurant/bistro has a diverse menu and excellent food. Couldn't imagine a better place to stay in downtown Montreal.

While this hotel was in a GREAT location, the Brutalist Architecture of the exterior was in a horrifying contrast to the interior's faux Versailles (c. 1975) grandiosity. The Staff was gracious and the rooms large and clean, but the mix of mid 1970's provincial furniture with the mid 2000's infill furniture and marble was disconcerting. The air conditioning was extremely loud and the plumbing knocked all day and night. Don't even get me started on the lobby and dining area's decor... stunned would be the most accurate description of my first reaction, between the amateurish paintings around the lobby which clashed with the stained glass wings on the bronze nymph which revolved endlessly on top of the fountain in the center of the lobby (I'm not kidding) to the nightly Karaoke blaring from the lobby bar. It was always a mad dash to the elevator to avoid the audio/visual stimulus assaulting our senses!

I selected the hotel from the internet traveler reviews with some trepidation...since I was traveling out of the country and thought if I did not like the hotel I would be stuck in a country where I did not know the native language. However, I was so thrilled with the hotel, the staff, the location - big rooms, comfortable beds, good room service. The concierge recommended a great little restaurant where I was able to eat outdoors by myself, and it was excellent. For young persons, especially this is the hotel to be - discoteque with a "happening" pool bar area. But there were also some great lounges, and an outdoor rooftop terrace restaurant that offered other music and dining styles. The only drawbacks - no fitness center (although I thought the Travel agent legend indicated there was one) and no business cente. There are coffee shops nearby that have free wi-fi stations, but there is nothing like having it on property. I really like the hotel and would definitely choose it again!

We booked 4 nights at this hotel through online travel website and paid * per night. The room is HUGE, King size bed, lots of English channels on TV, the staff all speak English without making you feel guilty that you don't speak French. In the evening, Maid service brings you chocolates and the weather forecast for the next day, papers are free but mostly are French. Room has a minibar and a balcony and complementary robes (and it is clean). We have a food allergy and the restaurant was able to assist us with safe food choices. To compare, we had 2 nights at the Sheraton after this hotel and it had 4 English channels, a toilet that wouldn't stop flushing, a tub that didn't drain and a room door that had to be yanked to latch closed - all for a higher cost per night too. I will stay at the Hotel de la Montagne anytime I go back to Montreal. It is an excellent value for money hotel. It's about 3 blocks from the nearest Subway and just off Ste Catherine street where all the shopping is! What more could one want???

The hotel was weird - it was old and totally run down. But it was clean, and had large rooms with an AWESOME location. The catch was I paid extra for a "private balcony" which was really a 1 foot wide 4 foot long cement slab with a wall so high if you brought a chair over you couldn't see over the edge. It was ghetto but it served its purpose. The staff was friendly and nice as well.

we used to live in montreal some 40 years ago. we wanted to enjoy this great city in all its joy of life that it presents. the perfest place, i.e., small & very french hotel in downtown montreal. the room was very large, the staff very helpful, the caberet was delightful, and the brasserie was absolute wonderful. we highly recommend this hotel.

At Hotel de la Montagne, we had a spacious room, a King-sized and extremely comfortable bed, a huge bathroom with a separate tub and separate shower. We arrived on a Friday evening where this hotel appeared to be a hotspot with a lively band playing and a full dance floor in the downstairs cafe near check-in. The Valet's were very polite and helpful, parking our car in the hotel garage and taking all of our bags to the room. We ate at a superb Italian restaurant nearby called BIS. The location was excellent. We were very comfortable and satisfied.

The room was great as were the staff. However, I was not prepared for it to be such a party central area. Nicely cared for hotel, but in the end you could not get away from the smell of day old alcohol in the lobby. Hotel Restaurant - Les Beaux Jeudis had bar food that was adequate. I would recommend this place for Bachelor Parties or groups coming to have a rowdy time in Montreal. Great hotel and locale for that type of guest.
