Great location and price. I would stay there again

The room we had (428) was tucked in at the back of the building; the only window in the room faced a three wall ventilation fan area with what seemed to be high noise level 24/7. Could not really leave windows open for fresh air because the noise was just to irritating. The saviour was the air conditioning. The room had an old tired smell which got overtaken by the room spray device which was overpowering, unpleasant and artificial. Again the air conditioning saved the day. The lift shaft was right behind one of the walls. So we heard the lift door when ever some body entered or left the lift. Luckily we were out every day. If we would have chosen to stay in the room on a rainy day it would not have been a enjoyable time - it would have been clostraphobic. The television channel selection was minimal, not what I would have expected in the middle of the Sydney CBD.

Stay on second floor, room was dark, dirt and old. Few fleas being found on bed (Informed front desk but could only check bed linen). Air conditioner liked steam locomotive. Service room used to wash bed linen found to be dirty and messy. Cockroach body being found on front lobby.

Not a good hotel for the business traveler. Small room, spartan - dated furniture. Very worn, but clean and "cozy". Nor I would not use this property for vacation travel. Located within 3 minute walk of the heart of Kings Cross, which is a seedy district. The hotel is at the demarcation point of Kings Cross and normal civilization. Staff was very nice, the breakfast buffet is a price performer if included in the room rate. Very expensive if purchased at the door.

Great location if you want to be in Kings Cross. Smoking allowed in some rooms was a good change + individual air conditioning.

"I found the staff very personable and helpful. When asked about various activities to do in and around Sydney they were very informative, receptive, and booked or supplied maps to various activites. The continental breakfast was superb. The hotel location was excellent as a base to explore Sydney by foot, train, or bus. I highly recommend the De Vere Hotel and would stay there again."

The radio f/m system in the room was quite outdated and difficult to use while the TV channels were very disturbed signals and unclear. Yet the friendliness of the staff and the other facilities of the hotel made up for this. Great place!

The de Vere continues to offer good value accommodation in a prime area of Sydney with exceptional facilities for the price. My only wish - but this also applies to ALL hotels - is that internet was provided free.

"We have stayed at the Derere Hotel twice in the last 18 months, last time mid January 2007. It has transport to the front door, 24 hour reception, delicious buffet breakfast, staff that assist you with tours. We will stay there again as we were very happy with the service we received. It also has great package deals."

I have stayed at the DeVere now, four or five times, in a variety of rooms that they provide. The DeVere has a "home away from home" secure feel about it. The staff are always friendly, helpful and obliging, location is great, given that it is close to all amenities, including a short walk to the train station. I have stayed in many hotels in Sydney and Kings Cross, this one tops them all for location, facilities and value.

This hotel was very centrally located, giving us excellent access to transport and a variety of food. Woolworths and a fresh food outlet right across the road was an added bonus. Breakfast was included in the rate and included hot and cold selections. We would stay here again.
