Room had paper thin walls. Seemed if someone whispered in the next room we would wake up. Room AC very loud and noisy. Room had odd order. Did not use the bar or continental breakfast. pool was full of scum. Worst was there was a convention in town this weekend and the hotel charged us premium prices and felt it an extremely poor value. would consider staying at this hotel only at half the rate we paid, but even then, would be very hesitant. To be avoided if possible.

approaching this hotel at 11:00 pm is SCARY. After passing through some rough neighborhoods, seeing the motercycle gathering at the neighborhood gas station, I was concerned for my safety and the safety of my car. The noise from out side the room continued throughout the night.

I arrived at the hotel and found it to be totally unacceptable: Although described to be in the touristy historic district of town, the hotel is in fact in a very bad area. It is next door to a bail bond agency, and there are bars on every window of every building within sight. Locals confirmed the hotel is in a truly unsafe area. The building is dirty and extremely run-down. A chain link fence surrounds the property and whatever existed as landscaping at one time is dead, dry and brown. The pool is a black weed filled swamp!

We actually ended up leaving this hotel and going to another. If the projects are part of historic New Bern, then it is in historic New Bern. The hotel was surrounded by a chain link fence. The fence around the pool was fallling down and the pool was black on Memorial Day weekend. I decided that my life was worth more than the advanced fee that I had paid so we left. I tried to talk to the manager and the booking company about crediting my account since I did not feel safe and they would not do it (that was Orbitz). The hotel was very much in disrepair. Don't believe the pictures and if you value your life, don't stay here! If you need a bail bondsman, there is one across the street though..

Be sure to get your rate in writing. Staff will change the rate in system before you arrive & not honor rate you were give (by owner encouragement). Had to spend 30 minutes on the phone with Days Inn National Customer Service Department before ""manager"" would change the rate back. Wanted * more per night than what was quoted. Wish I could have left as soon as I saw the surrounding area. For your own safety, try some place else, .
