This Days Inn was a big surprise! I would ahve a very hard time describing it other than a step back in time. The structure was very old. The rooms were akin to This Old House gone bad. Personally I liked the charm but it's not what I would expect in any hotel/motel these days. The price was right but after staying there could have been even lower. The room was basically two very old rooms each with a window A/C in each room. It rained both nights I was there and the rain sounded like ball-bearings hitting the top of the metal A/C which was very annoying while trying to sleep. No free breakfast which has become a staple at most places. I could stay there again as a place to crash but would not recommend it to anyone else.

Absolutely nothing. The rooms were small. My dorm room in college had twice the space. The Days Inn in downtown Rochester is absolutely terrible. Not only are the facilities rediculous, but the staff wouldn't work with us when we let them know that the room wasn't up to our standards.

The attached restaurant was outstanding in menu, service and price. This is an old hotel with old bathrooms, but they are functional, a few have whirlpool tubs. All had shower/tub combination. The furnishings are new and comfortable. Some rooms with only one bed were quite small and had only a desk chair and no easy chair. The two bed rooms (and King room) have nice comfortable easy chairs. Just across the street is tunnel access to Mayo Clinic, just two blocks away ... an easy and comfortable walk. We came to stay two days and ended up being here for a month. Would definitely return. The staff is great and all we needed is so readily available.

Check in was smooth, however when we got to our room we were shocked at how tiny it was. With a full (double) bed and a small dresser, there was not enough room to open our suitcase fully. Around the foot and side of the bed was approximately 10inches of space...you had to slide sideways to get around the bed. The bathroom was even more cramped. The standing shower had a very small doorway and the shower continued back behind the wall...making it more like a dark closet than anything else. There was approximately 3 inches of space from the wall on both sides of the toilet. The paperholder hung over the toilet seat. One had to turn sideways to wiggle in to sit. We requested and received a slightly larger room, with a queen bed. There was still the same amount of space to manuever around the bed, but at least there was enough floor space to get our suitcase open. Bathroom was larger, with a tub/shower unit. However, it did not drain well and one ended up standing in water by the end of a shower. The west facing room was very hot when we received the room and took 8 hours to cool down below 78*. The thick plaster walls held the heat for a long time. We had to leave the AC running full blast for our entire stay. Most disturbing was the evening desk clerk. She was rude, surly tempered and spent large amounts of time on the phone with personal calls intensely cursing her family members (I know more about her daughter's computer hogging than I ever wanted to learn!). Access to the guest internet service was limited by the staff members who were using it during their duty hours.

Close to my desired location Mayo Clinic. Everything else. Its old, somewhat dirty, had to sleep in twin bed. If your going to Mayo Clinic. You won't get closer. If your staying a long time stay elsewhere. There are nice rooms a short distance away at similar or lower prices.

GREAT location if you are going to Mayo Clinic. You just walk across the street and enter the hospital where a wheel chair will be available. ALL STAFF is outstanding EXCEPT for the HATEFUL manager. He was rude and quite unfriendly at check-out. We had been quoted our room price with free parking during the entire stay. When we checked in, the free parking notation was in place, and we were given our free pass. The manager was very unfriendly and acted like we were crooks or something and were trying to scam him when we checked out . He held us while he checked the computer to find where it might say free parking. He told us to never book on-line. He most certainly needs to take a class on people skills!! This is an old hotel, but is very clean and comfortable. The entire staff is extremely friendly and helpful! The onsite restaurant had good food at a 10% discount if you are staying at the hotel. However, if you stay more than 2 weeks, you run out of different meal options. Washer and dryer and ice machine worked well. Free newspaper every morning. Elevator well lit and in good working order. Luggage pull on wheels was so helpful. The inn will lower room rate cost if you are staying when the rate drops. However, you need to check daily to make sure you get the discount. We stayed 12 days and had different rates. This is not a 5 star hotel, but it is an excellent place to stay while going to Mayo Clinic!!!!!! I most certainly highly recommend it!!

My husband, 3 week old baby, and I drove 6 hours to get to Rochester the night before my daughter's doctor appointment. We arrived at midnight to an empty front desk. I waited for about 15 minutes before some finally came with a load of towels to fold, and then tried checking into the hotel and they apparently did not have my reservation?!, I went to my car to call the number on my printed confirmation from the internet, while I was sitting in the car the lady came out and knocked on the window - I rolled it down and she said, "Oh, I found it!" Ok, so go get checked in, parked, unload everything you need for yourself and a baby - and then enter the ANCIENT, BARELY RUNNING elevator! We go up to our floor and I could have sworn we were in a ghetto apartment building. It was quite a trek to our room, an honestly all I could think of is if there were a fire how the heck do we get out of this place?? So we get to our room, and I am shocked...it is TINY. There is room for two full size beds and that is it. Luckily we have a room with one full size bed, so there is room for us to set up my daughters pack-n-play. There is about a foot clearance between the foot of our bed and the door to go into the bathroom. In the tiny bathroom - there is a pedestal sink straight ahead, a stand-up shower in one corner, and the small toilet right next to it in the other corner. Oh yes, the street noise was unbearable as well - you could tell when bar close was!! Don't go there!!!!!!!!!!!

The hotel looks like a renovated apartment above a downtown business. We were placed on the fifth floor, where they allow pets (although we did not have any). Their were two small beds, separated by a desk. The beds were extremely old and worn with major holes or indents in the middle of the beds. You could hear water flowing through the pipes all night and bathroom was less than desirable. Although I would say the room did not look extremely dirty.

I absoluely loved this old hotel with the charm, beauty and grace in the era which is was built. The staff was curteous and gracious. I was here for business and pleasure and thoroughly enjoyed my trip. I would recommend this to anyone who is traveling in the area.

The restaurant had good food. Beds & rooms were small. Bathroom floor tiles were coming apart, you can see they slapped up paint to make it look clean. It said it was recently renovated, but all they did was paint highly pricey for this shabby hotel.

booked my 5 night stay at this hotel because I had to take my 2 year old daughter to the Mayo Clinic. Upon arrival, I was shocked to discover that the rooms did not have a micro/fridge as posted on their website. I immediately went to the front desk and was told that not only did they not have any micro's/fridges in their rooms, but none to share in the lobby area etc. This posed a huge proble for me as my daughter has meds that need to be refridgerated etc. I said that I needed to cancel my reservation and was told that it was non refundable because I booked it on the days inn website. To add insult to injury, this honestly was the poorest hotel I've ever stayed at...I can't believe Days Inn would out their sign on something so disgraceful. Their website says "newly renovated in 2007"...our rooms renovation included a new sink in the bathroom - that was it. Also, the heat was stuck in the "on" position, so we had the run the 20 year old window air conditioner to keep it comfortable. The beds had a huge sag in the middle, only one ice machine for the entire hotel, no vent in the bathroom to get rid of the steam, the toilet was pushed so tightly against the wall that you literally had to turn almost sideways to use it, and the rooms themselves were smaller than anything I've ever seen before. I talked to several people at the mayo clinic about my experience and was told that they don't ever recommend going there because of the problems people have. At the end of the day, I paid $* to be irritated and upset, and still stayed somewhere else.

Friendly staff, close to great restaurants. Too cramped in the room, very small bathroom and no place to sit other than on bed. Okay for a traveler that only sleeps in the room. No place to eat or read a book/newspaper other than down in the lobby.

"Across from Mayo Renal Clinic, this old fashioned hotel is charming and quaint. It was clean and smelled nice, the front desk checked on us to make sure everything was good, it was! Will return."

Very close to Mayo clinic. Extremely small room. The hotel was old with very small rooms. It was clean and was within walking distance of the Mayo clinic. It had a very good restaurant with affordable prices.

I had a very pleasent experience at this hotel. I would recommend this place to anyone

Warm heat from register in the bathroom. Smell in the room, soft saggy bed, step up in bathroom and makeshift shower. It was difficult to get into the hotel for someone in a wheelchair. No handicap access. The room was so small I had a hard time getting my chair in to recharge it. The step up into the old bathroom was dangerous for one unsteady on feet. Noise outside hotel from street very early in the morning interrupted sleep. Old and rundown. I will never return. Also, not connected to subway or skyway.

The kid at the desk was friendly when I checked in. The whole place had a sleazy atmosphere. I would never ever stay there again and if I hadn't been tired when I arrived, I wouldn't have stayed. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Location. Room was very small- hot with no visable way to control heat- no shuttle to Mayo facilities. Room was clean which is most important but too small for more than one person. No amenities (conditioner, lotion etc). Staff was friendly. All-in-all it served my purpose as a lone traveler staying there while my sister was in a Mayo hospital.
