We had read negative reviews for this hotel, and our experience found no merit in the criticisms. Staff was accommodating and hospitable. Room was convenient, clean and fully prepared for our stay. Neighborhood was "rough," just by the interstate, but there was absolutely no cause for such negative critiques. Our stay was most satisfactory, if not "elegant."

When we complained about the original room, they moved us immediately.

Don't stay here ~ it's in a horrible part of town. There is a fence the whole way around the hotel with one entrance in and out!! We refused to stay there, after we made reservations!! I was litrally scared as we circled the hotel, checking it out. We never got out of the car....too scared!! Please remember....you get what you pay for. Spend the extra and make yourself feel safer!!

As two women traveling alone, across country, by car,we did our research before making our reservations at this Days Inn in Birmingham. Aol and Days Inn falsely advertised this hotel. We knew we were in trouble when we got off of the exit and the only restaurant within several miles was a Church's Fried Chicken were astounded by the "clientele" that was sitting on the outside stairs, "hanging around" like a getto gathering watching everyone coming and going. We pulled up to the front to go into the lobby to ask them if we could transfer our reservation to another Days Inn on down the road, but as more clientele came out of the front doors, we chose to keep going until we could find an acceptable hotel. We felt that our security and safety was compromised if we stayed at this Days Inn. We "ate" the 74 bucks so that we could actually close our eyes and sleep that night.

My friend Mark & I were in Bham for a baseball event, Rickwood Classic. Hotel was really convenient to ball park, but neighborhood was a little "dicey." However ball field is in older section, convenience or "dicey", maybe can't have both. The real bummer was the pool was under renovation (closed). We get in from a long drive, 200 miles, no pool to soak in in the heat. Beautiful day at ballgame though. I would not give a general recommendation, unless like us, convenience to ballpark.

On same street as business location. It was dirty and smelly. This was a hotel I would not recommend to anyone. It was dirty and smelly. The tub backed up as I was showering. There were spiders in the room. There were cigarette holes on the bedspread. The mattress was very soft and covered in a plastic that kept us awake as we moved. It was overpriced.

Me and 5 of my family members had to travel to Birmingham to bury our brother. The hotel locate was great but one of our rooms had ROACHES (yes I said roaches). The management did nothing about it except to say they would have housekeeping spray the room and gave me a can of raid. Good thing we had family there and was not planning to spend very much time in our rooms.

Do not bother booking here. If you want to be treated like the customer go somewhere else. Stayed here during the NCAA tournament and it made the trip terrible. We were given a smoking room after booking a non-smoking room. There was an all night party across the road on Friday night that you could here clearly from your room. The room was tinted yellow from the smoke. On Saturday a bag containing necessity items was taken from our room. OVERALL THIS IS NOT A HOTEL THAT I WOULD RECOMMEND TO LEAVE YOUR ANIMALS AT MUCH LESS YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Smoke laden room with poor front desk service. Vending machines lacking, poor locations of amenities and for someone on crutches alone, a little help would have been nice. Fire stairs need to have railing fixed, rusted through at base.

Check-out. The housekeepers are not friendly and the breakfast was awful, and the pool was nasty.

We booked a two-night stay but only stayed one night because we didn't feel safe. When we first arrived, we noticed that one end of the parking lot was gated. It wasn't until we got back to the room from seeing a movie at 12:30 a.m. that we realized what the gate was for. There was a house party right across the street with no less than 20 cars in the yard. We heard people coming and going at all hours of the night. The room was okay at first glance, but the sheets and towels were dirty and the bathroom was tiny. Glad we brought our own bedding. Would not recommend.

For the price and short time to reserve it was good.

The location was terrible, the sheets and the bathroom were dirty. For us, it served the purpose since we just needed a room for 1 night.

I booked this hotel online before I read any reviews, needless to say after reading some of them, I was very worried about picking this hotel. But everything was great, we only stayed one night because we were in town for a concert.... it wasn't the Marriott, but I wasn't expecting that anyway!!! Good choice for somewhere to crash after a night downtown!!

Right off the interstate. Served our purpose - just needed a place to stay the night - cheap but clean.

The place is OK but staff & manager no-where to be found when needed. Had my motorcycle stolen and no-one seemed to care even though it was parked in front of main door and in front of security camera. Very suspect area. Be aware, otherwise it's a room and free breakfast.

The filth, the crime, the lack of safety. There were no non-smoking rooms, there were nefarious individuals hanging about.

Had a waffle maker at breakfast. Was a little uneasy of the near area.

Met my needs location wise. No one on staff spoke very good English. It was a large room and relatively clean. But the staff was a aloof and not very friendly. No restaurants near by, only fast foods. We traveled several miles to find a sit down restaurant.
Date of Stay:
May, 2007
"Hotel is in questionable area, safety was a concern. Rooms were small, bathroom was tiny. Room was fairly clean, but furniture and carpet looked old and worn. Staff was nice enought, breakfast was a joke. I would spend $25 more for a nicer room next time."
