This is a modest hotel, but right in the heart of Savannah. All the attractions and best restaurants are within 5 minutes walk. The best part is the breakfast buffet. It was very substantial and not like in many other hotels- just pastry and jam, there were hot items too. The breakfast area was very spacious and modernized too. Though the rooms are standard with very small bathrooms, this is the best hotel for the money in downtown Savannah.

Location. I was traveling with elderly parents and my sister. The hotel was perfect for our needs. All the common areas were well maintained and the room was great.

Good location, but rude staff, the internet not working in the rooms and the breakfast with disposible dishes.

We spent two nights in a King bed room and were very satisfied. We were skeptical after reading one very negative review, but we had nothing to complain about. The breakfast area was convenient, although the second day we had to share the space with a tour bus and had no table to sit at. The personnel staff was more than helpful, and pleasant, especially the woman in the breakfast room and the people at the front desk. We had no working wifi in the room, but the problem was fixed in a timely manner. Also there was a small problem with reservations that day, but the front desk handled it more than satisfactorily.

We liked the location. The room was nice but pretty small. We often stay in hotels that offer free breakfast and their selection was a little disappointing.

The bartender said some choice words to us, our room was not serviced or cleaned. This hotel was terrible. For the amount of money for 2 nights, I would have rather gone somewhere else. The room was dip in the drawers, there was no tissue or remote, the bathroom door did not close and the tub was clogged.

Do not be fooled by the photos or the location. I have stayed in dorm rooms that have had cleaner carpets, cleaner walls and cleaner doors. The carpet was so nasty I would not walk on it barefoot. Even the desk blotter was sticky. The details beyond the lobby have been ignored. From the elevator on you will only be satisfied if your requirements are a plasma TV. All the room furniture was scratched, the hotel controls the thermostat (nothing below 70 allowed), the water screeched its way out of the showerhead that was detached from the wall and offered no water pressure. Pieces of loose grout lined the tub / shower. The staff never smiled or made eye contact. After 25 years of traveling for business this is the first time I have ever written a review - a warning - to stay away from an establishment. I spent one night (April, 2009) in room 240 - a King Suite - and will never return.

We got to the hotel too early to check in. But the girls at the desk called housekeeping to see if a room was available for us. We weren't able to get in right away, but we didn't have to wait until 3pm for the normal check-in. It was nice that they didn't just turn us away and tell us to wait. The information lady was EXCELLENT at informing us about stuff to do and what tours to take. The tours were a bit pricey, but fun to go on. **My one problem was that one morning we decided to stay in a bit late in the room and the housekeeper came in to the room WITHOUT knocking first. I found it very rude that she didn't even knock before entering. She just figured we were out.

The staff & hotel were fabulous! Nothing! My friend and I stayed at the Inn and we were very impressed with hospitality of your staff. Each person we came across during our stay was very pleasant and helpful to us. The concierge, really stands out as he was completely exceptional! He arranged a brilliant meal for us at the Chart House across the street Saturday night and then helped us decide on fun activities the following day. He truly exceeded our expectations and we are grateful to have had his knowledgeable and friendly assistance while we were your guests. Thank you very much!

Close to the heart of the city. Easy walking distance. Nice to have a parking garage right next door and you can park you own car. Really didn't need to use the car was able to use the tour bus because we were only there a day and a half. Purchased our tour tickets from the Concierge "she was a real pip" and appeared quite knowledgeable. Mrs Wilks a must do, but get there early. Fiddlers not worth it for fresh fish. Best Pizza just a block from the hotel. Overall it is a great place to visit will come back for sure. The people were very friendly.

My husband and I went for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. The hotel is centrally located. We walked or rode the trolley the entire time we were there. The room was very clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The area was very convenient. Everyone was so nice. $18 to park in the hotel parking lot for 2 nights. It was very easy to get to. Close to everywhere we wanted to go. We didn't have to drive anywhere unless we wanted to. Very clean, flat screen TV. Internet excess. We didn't have a shower curtain when we checked in, butI called housekeeping and they brought one up right away. The bed and pillows were very comfy.

The location was perfect, the rooms clean, and we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast in the morning. The sink in the room was clogged, a maintenance person came and acknowledged that it was, but it didn't get fixed in the five days we were there.

I never got out of bed until 9:00 am. Convenient to go anywhere, and close to what we wanted most to see in the Historic District. Even with access to a rental car, we walked almost everywhere. I was surprised that the Hotel didn't try to maintain a restaurant, but I'm actually glad you didn't have one---hard to compete with what WAS available in the area. Our daughter stayed in a newer hotel closer to Madison Square.......no comparison!!! No character there at all. Your place had a great feel to it.

The bed was very, very comfortable andvery great stress relief. The cafe/bar was closed most of the time; room service would have been nice.

Would of been nice if I didn't have to wait 30 minutes to check in because the front desk lady was sleeping, had to call online travel website who called her until she woke up

This is an Orbitz problem, I believe. The hotel had not received any information from Orbitz regarding our reservation ! Fortunately, they had room for us, but could not tell us what our room charge would be. I had a copy of the Orbitz reservation, though, which I provided them.

The Inn at Ellis Square was the best!! The front desk staff was welcoming and extremely friendly. The maintenance staff was prompt and very apologetic with a minor room issue. The rooms were clean and well attended to. I am looking forward to returning with friends and will only stay at the Inn at Ellis Square, location is the best in all of Savannah!!!

The hotel was very nice and in a great location. It's right off the riverfront and although we rented a car, we walked most of the time to the places we wanted to go. My only complaint about this hotel is that the parking gargage gets full very quickly on weekends and the spaces are extremely narrow. If anyone parks over the line, you will not be able to get in. And if the one lot is full, you have to go to the lobby and get someone to okay the lot across the street. Kind of annoying and a hassle for $9/day. We had a King suite and it was very nice and always cleaned and restocked. We didn't use the pool, but it was average and looked pretty clean. I would stay here again if I were in Savannah or if someone was looking for a recommendation.
