Description:
The Davenport Hotel is a grand hotel of the Gilded Age, opened in 1914 and the first hotel with air conditioning, central vacuum system and folding ballroom walls. The first Crab Louis was served here, named for Louis Davenport who called his hotel the "house of comfort." Fully restored and revitalized in 2002, the hotel offers a perfect blend of history, architectural beauty and modern amenities, where exceptional service remains the keynote and every guest feels at home. The Hotel's six ballrooms and over 33,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, provide regal settings for conventions, meetings and weddings. Opened in 2007 and designed to be the perfect complement to the historic hotel, the 21 story Tower (just across the street from the hotel) captures a spirit of timeless world travel and luxury in the finest of Davenport traditions. Guests are surrounded by elegance, fine imported furnishings and room decor, beautiful architecture and rich painting, sculptures and murals in the Tower lobby. Truly, the Tower is a landmark itself and the latest Davenport masterpiece. Refined elegance and comfort surround you in all of our 611 guest rooms and suites. The famous Davenport bed is the centerpiece of every guest room, which has caused many guests to declare, "A night at the Davenport is better then a night at home!"Expedia.com travelers ranked the hotel #3 in the U.S.A. and #6 in the world. Conde Nast Traveler has included the hotel in it's prestigious Gold List in 2007 and 2008. AAA has awarded the hotel a 4 Diamond rating, the highest in the region. Mr. Davenport said it best when he wished: "to so well please our guests, that they will be glad they came, sorry to leave and eager to return." Our mission statement remains the same today.

The history behind the hotel was amazing. What they have done to restore it is should make them very proud. We know what it takes to return something back to its original or as close to original that you can get. They have done a tremendous job of keeping the history along with making it as user friendly technology wise. The hotel staff was wonderful, very helpful very polite it was evident that they are very proud of their workplace and of the opportunity to be a part of it. You can tell when you walk in that this is a very proud and happy staff. The beds were the most comfortable that we have ever had in a hotel. We both have back problems so this was a blessing. They should all be very proud of the Davenport it is everything we hoped.

The Davenport and Tower is an awesome hotel and is one of the nicest I've ever stayed in. We stayed for 2 nights in the Tower. Our room was decorated beautifully in an African safari motif. The shower was a tiled European styled walk in. The bathroom sink was seprate from the commode and shower and had a really nice marble counter top and fixtures and a really nice vanity mirror. The Safari Lounge in the Tower was nice and upscale. The lobby has a large seating area and fireplace, all with marble floors. We used the town car service twice while we stayed. The Davenport itself was also very nice as others in our party stayed there. I'm not normally a fan of that type of decor (having stayed at the Sir Francis Drake in SF years ago) but I really fell in love with the Davenport. They definately changed my mind. We had wonderful cocktails and appetizers in the Peacock Lounge, which has live music on weekends. The history of the Davenport is also interesting if you're into history and such. Just sitting in the lobby you feel transported back to another era. Both the Davenport and Tower are located within walking distance from banking, shopping, dining and nightlife. Plus the town car service can deliver you almost anywhere you need to go. The Davenport is not for the budget minded but if you're looking for a an upscale hotel or romantic getaway it's for you. I want to go back around Christmas/New Years just to see how they decorate the hotel.

This was a very bad experience. The place was renovated but should have been tore down. The staff was arrogant and rude. The room was way overpriced, and this is coming from someone who has no problem paying money for a room at the Ritz Carleton when available in my travels. The hotel had an odor of mothballs and moldy cheese, it was really rather disgusting. I am searching for a new hotel in Spokane, a nice little town, that does not reek of a bad odor and even worse of a poor attempt and bringing back some historic time period.

We had gone to college in Spokane and were thrilled at the opportunity to stay at this beautiful old hotel that had been totally remodeled. We also had dinner in the lobby of the older section of the hotel. It was exquisite and the food wasn't bad either!!

Quiet rooms. Parking fees. Beautiful hotel with excellent service and great location.

I traveled with the advice of my travel agent. He recommended it and he was right on the money again. The Davenport is THE #1 hotel in Spokane not only bacause of its history in that city but also because of its location and the new tower compliments Spkane's past with the present. It's also not too overly priced.

We had to cancel a reservation less than 24 hours after making it and we were told we would have to pay up and could not make a change of date either. This call finally made it up to the GM and she was quite smug in being of little help, we did get the date changed finally. We were so distraught about the whole ordeal that we decided to cancel all-together. My wife called to cancel and was told it was a done deal -- great! But actually not. They called me on my cell phone four times w/out leaving a message and finally on the 5th call from an unknow number left a msg for me. When I called I was told again, quite smugly, "Do you want to cancel your reservation or what?" WOW, I was amazed at the absolute smug and rude attitude that I was being given. Major frustration and due to this simple 'company policy' as I am constantly told about, I will never stay at this hotel again and promised them I would tell as many people as I could about this experience...so here I am. Be warned, make sure your travel plans don't change as you will be out of luck....never had this level of poor customer service at any other high end hotel I have stayed at. Cheers.

Once you get past the beautiful lobby it's downhill from there. Rooms are very very small. You can sit on the bed or in one of two very small and uncomfortable desk chairs. The bed was indeed heaven to sleep in. Outside of that not much to say about the rooms. Clean, decent, but not near as good as advertised. If you are a smoker you should probably look elsewhere. They advertise smoking rooms, but there are none. Silly penalty paper they make you sign in case you dare foul their room. To smoke you are thrown out into the elements of their garden terrace. No cover anywhere. Fine in June but look out come snow season. The place is adequate but in my opinion a bit overblown. I would more than likely look elsewhere before staying there again.

Exceeded my expectations in service and quality. Parking at tower was confusing. Valet service did not lock my vehicle. The Davenport Hotel, Spokane is a masterpiece in hospitality, whether you are looking for a romantic getaway for the weekend or looking for exceptional service as a business traveler the Davenport will not disappoint. Having traveled through the United States for 15 days this was the icing on the cake. Staff was courteous and professional in all departments, the menu at the Safari Grill excelled itself in choice, quality and most surprisingly, in price too. As for the building itself (both tower and main building) these were an architectural gem. No aspect seems to have been overlooked and even the beds provided us with the best nights rest on our travel. Highly recommended. We'll be back.

I have stayed at the Davenport previously and wanted to take my husband there for his birthday to experience the beautiful rooms and overall feeling of the wonderful hotel. There was a discount offered for staying in the new Tower with the promise that the same quality of room was provided in the Tower as in the main hotel. The Tower room decor was tacky. Besides the wall size mirror behind the bed, there were overly bright spot lights focusing on the bed. The promised spa bathroom was nothing like the glorious spa bath of the main hotel: It was a tiny closet with a typically small hotel shower. By all means stay at the Davenport, but be sure you stay in the main hotel. It is a wonderful, elegant, beautiful place to stay. The Tower doesn't hold a candle to it.

spotless, friendly etc, but we got the feeling of being nickeled- and dimed, no welcoming basket (piece of fruit, or chocolate or so), instead $4 water bottle, no coffee in room etc.

The rooms are decorated in fun themes. The downstairs lobby was busy with people having fun and food. We had a cocktail at the Safari bar before heading out for dinner and the staff was fun.

Consistent friendliness of the staff. Everything was perfect, but valet service was a little slow. Overall the hotel had great service. The room was very beautiful, and well appointed. The restaurant service was good and the help in the gift shop, the valets, the town car service, the front desk, the doorman and the bellhop were all really great.

The Davenport towers were better than expected. The room was simple but elegant. The walk in shower was amazing. It is truly the nicest hotel in Spokane. I would highly recommend.

We live in Coeur d'Alene, ID and wanted to celebrate our anniversary with a night out in Spokane. We typically will jump on that "name your price" site and grab a room at a 3.5+ star (Doubletree) for $70-90, but for this stay we were not finding availability for under $100 (stopped bidding at 100) for that weekend. I also noticed low availability on the travel sites and hotel sites. I was finding many decent but not upscale hotels for $140-180, and then found the Davenport for $189 on Orbitz. I figured for just a little more money, we could finally try out the upscale Davenport. I also found a 10% off coupon so the room ended up being about $180 with all taxes/fees. We didn't stay at the actual Davenport, it was their newer Tower across the street. The Tower is decorated in an African/Safari theme. We didn't use many of the amenities, but the room was very classy and comfortable. Amazing bed, huge walk-in shower "room." Nicely decorated, nice widescreen TV on the wall actually in FRONT of the bed for easy viewing. We were on the 12th floor - not spectacular but nice view. It was definitely worth paying a little more for the luxury vs. a more basic room elsewhere. We tend to not want to pay this much normally for rooms, but it was a nice, pleasant experience.

Beautiful, well restored historic landmark with all of the modern conveniences. Poor wireless signal in our room. We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful, well restored historic hotel. The staff is friendly, the food is fantastic (try the tenderloin) and the atmosphere is one of elegance of days gone by. Every inch of this hotel has been restored to its classic beauty, but still it contains all of the modern conveniences you'd expect from a great hotel. Be sure to take the time to explore this building, especially the second floor with its ballrooms, photographs, and historic displays. The davenport is a destination in itself!

This is a beautiful and friendly hotel. Our room was outstanding and the service spectacular. We are worldwide travelers who typically stay in at least 4 star properties. The Davenport is definitely up there!
