pleasant enough but wouldn't go backwe stayed in a standard double room. rooms are ok for the money you spend, toilet is like a portaloo and the sink isn't even in there its next to the bed plus no hand towels to dry with just 2 massive bath towels. staff are friendly enough and the cafe food is really nice, breakfast was fine but not included so an extra £5pp for continental or £8pp buffet. Nice, clean hotel with good food but a bit pricey.

I had a tiny room with 3 dorm style twin size beds--2 beds were side-by side with the 3rd placed above them bunk bed style. The closet was a rail hung between a bed and the ladder to the upper bunk. The sink was at the opposite side of the rooom from the toilet and the shower stall. The dining facilitities were quite nice. The desk staff were generally helpful but it would have made my stay easier if they would have had more information regarding the local cab services. I found the information I needed when I walked over to another hotel and asked their front desk.

The staff at reception were extremely helpful and friendly. perfect location for visiting ExCel

The hotel was not in the best of locations but the hotel itself was surprisingly really nice. Much better than I expected it to be. Good value for money and would definitely recommend the hotel.

OveratedUpon arrival we were 'upgraded' to a deluxe room - I'd hated to have seen what the 'standard accommodation was like. The room was small, airless and the smell coming from the bathroom was rank. Plus it was quite noisy in the morning as the hotel is on a main road and opposite the DLR station.

Basic rooms - some quite small but perfectly adequate for a nights stay. Room was clean as was the hotel. Check in was very quick and service good - the TV wasn't working properly but someone was along to see to it within 5 mins of reporting fault. Plenty of choice from the buffet breakfast and staff coped admirably on a very hectic weekend - the London Marathon- when everyone wanted breakfast early! Would recommend for a convenient and reasonably priced stay for the Greenwich area

Handy for East EndWe statyed here as it was the best value we could find for hotels in and around the East End. Transport links were brilliant with the DLR just outside, so we had no trouble getting to and from our celebration. A basic room that met all our requirements. If we had wanted somewhere really special we would have been prepared to spend a lot more, so this was one of the best budget offerings we have stayed in. Very pleased with the whole experience.

Custom House hotel (15/07/09)Ideal accommodation for access to the EXCEL centre and only a couple of stops away from the O2 arena.Very clean and well presented hotel with very helpful and informed staff.Unable to comment on quality of food available as I was meeting with friends elsewhere for dinner, but several options were available: bar/ restaurant/ cafe available, including on site chinese restaurant.Very good overall.

Room was boxy and had fake walls that creaked when you leant on them. Bathroom flooded when you took a shower and room generally seemed slightly grubby. Luckily we only paid £49 for the room, however I was shocked to find out the hotel charge £125 per night normally!

Stayed there to get to a concert at the O2 and a weekend break- ideal for that. Standard modern Business-class hotel -clean & good service provided from professional staff

Brilliant chinese restaurant inside the Custom House HotelThe room was very small and it was difficult to place the luggage elsewhere. Its an either you or the luggage in the twinbed. Staff is friendly but not necessarily helpful. The local surroundings do not encourage to leave the hotel at nights. Would still consider to choose the hotel again as the room was ok and quiet and the inside chinese was brilliant. This one can esily compete with most chinese restaurants of inner London.

a perfect illustration of 'you get what you pay for'!!! - pay £50 & have a box-like room, where you have to sit on the bed (when you're not in it)...with a pub/food outlet downstairs which does fairly ordinary/poor meals & get woken-up, on the morning you don't have to leave 'til 10am, @ 7:30am by workmen hammering & drilling away i'm now staying nearby & paying more than twice as much; but have a room i can move around in; food i appreciate & don't get woken-up at the crack of dawn!!!

Very good bang for your buck in LondonThe hotel met and partly exceeded our expectations. Great value for money! The standard rooms are a bit on the smaller side, but nothing unusual. I for one liked the separate shower/toilet/washbasin arrangement, especially the washbasin in the room. The room was also very clean. The breakfast was expensive and we chose to go around the corner to Freemasons Café, which serves good breakfasts for half the price. The transportation connections to London are solid but take awhile. For O2, the location is great. Staff was friendly, the free left luggage service was much appreciated. The only negative things I can think of is that there is no wi-fi and the wired internet is very expensive (15 pounds). Also, one of the lifts seemed not to be working and the other one was very slow - regularly had to wait 5-10 minutes to get on, especially at check-out time when the small lift was crammed with people with suitcases. These are minor points though, overall very pleased.

Friendly staff in the breakfast room with prices that do not reflect the great location for London. There are not many hotels where you can get a brreakfast for as little as £1.99 for 3 croissants and jam with free coffee/tea/juice. The attached chinese restaurant and pub are aslo very reasonable. The DLR station is right outside so getting into central london is easy and cheap.

best hotel we have found in london thus fargreat hotel, easy to get to with the dlr and tubes, we managed to get from here to wembley in an hour and they are literally the other ends of london, fantastic, would definitely recommend. room is medium size, very clean, and the hotel is very nice too, with a nice bar and 2 restraunts.

Found the roomclean and comfortable. My card key didn't work at first so a member of staff accompanied to my room to check the replacement worked. He did this even though they were very busy. Managed to walk to London City Airport the next day. Facilities in the hotel were fine.

So what makes this a Superior Room?I've stayed here a number of times on business - and have always traded-off some of the unpleasant sides of the hotel for its relative low-sot and convenience. But this last stay will be, well.. my last stay. A surly receptionist was upgrading everyone ahead of me (so why did I bother booking a Superior if upgrades were being dished out?), and booked me in to a supposedly Superior room on the first floor above the entrance - totally ignoring my request for a quiet room made at the time. The room was large enough, no complaints there, but came complete with baby-cot, and disabled access bathroom (made a change form the usual airline style cubicles room rooms offer). But, but my main beef was the lack of hot water ("why didn't you ring reception?" "I was standing naked in the shower..what do you expect me to do", the noise, the peculiar smell of the linen, and the attitude of the receptionist. I've had some OK stays here, but this time i left feeling really p***d off.

A very handy hotel for flying out of London City on a morning flight. Just a few stops on the DLR with a simple change. Rooms basic but comfortable, although I would not recommend the showers if you are rather big at the cubicles are quite small.
