Special occasionThis was a special birthday for me and I loved the atmosphere and attention to detail. The waitresses were unobtrusive yet most helpful and courteous. I found that it was possible to have a private conversation without others sitting so close that we had to whisper. Prior to receiving our bill for food my husband mentioned that this was a special occasion for me and I was immediately offered a complimentary glass of champagne.Receptionists were particularly helpful and courteous.

beautiful old hotel well restored.lovely grounds. 1st room faced an below ground level wall. Reception was able to move us to another room; however the room temp was too warm.. we were able to open a window for comfort. Would reccommend this hotel... dining was elegant & delicious....

We attended a wedding and the food and service were exceptional considering how many people they were catering for. The breakfast the next morning was also hot where it was meant to be hot. The staff were attentive and friendly.

visit to culloden hotelstaff friendly and hotel of a good standardonly complaint was of excessive noise from a neighbouring room and corridor during the early hours of the morning. when i reported to staff they called and spoke to the noisey occupants and it quietened down but my nights sleep had been disturbed and i found it hard to get back to sleep

Good stay at the Culloden for a family function. Our standard room had side views of the lough, a lovely comfortable bed and great bathroom. 2 problems - there was no bin in the room, and it did not arrive even after asking housekeeping. And there was no full length mirror in the room which was annoying. Breakfast was good with a wide choice, but we had to ask for milk and napkins - some of the staff seemed quite young and inexperienced. All in all a good stay, but we wouldn't want to pay the rack rate!

The hotel lived up to it's well deserved 5* Rating starting at Reception to the quality of the accomodation and culminating with a wonderful dining experience in The Mitre Restaurant. We will definitely be staying there again.

The Culloden is a tranquil retreat & was ideal for myself & my heavily pregnant wife as a quiet get away. The room and ensuite were clean and pleasant, if a little smaller than we have experienced in other 5 star hotels. There are lots of areas in the hotel to sit & chill out in front of a fire with a paper or book. The pool area was good with Jaccuzi & steam room. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening as we wanted something a little more relaxed (plus we did think that £40 each was a little steep). We ate in the Cultra Inn which is on the grounds on the first night which was fine, if lacking a little character, on the second night we ate at the nearby Crawfordsburn Inn which we would highly recommend for pub grub. All in all we enjoyed the Culloden and would certainly return if we were looking for a similar type of break.

Arrived on a freezing evening - and the welcome was wonderful - blazing fires- attentive staffalthough the hotel was v quiet. Leisure centre is very professionally run and my meal in the Pub the resides within the hotel grounds was of excellent quality. My only gripe was that the layout of the hotel can be very confusing

The hotel is great. I was assigned a Jnr Suite, and treated like royalty. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Its the only 5star hotel in Belfast. I will return.

The service was great you were really made to feel that you were in a 5 star hotel. The Spa was very welcoming. We ordered ice to the room but ended up having to go for it ourselves. The carpet was worn on the stairs. The flavour of some of the food was disappointing.

Beautiful hotel with very helpful staff. We didn't eat in the fine dining restaurant we ate in the bistro 'Cultra'. Just had caesar salads. They weren't the best or the worst I've eaten but actually felt quite sick after it. Breakfast appeared nice but couldn't really have much as still feeling sick :-(. I certainly wouldn't write off the hotel because of this but it was disappointing. I would try the hotel again but probably would not eat in the bistro. Another strange aspect of eating in the bistro was how they seated us. There were plenty of free tables in the restaurant but we were squashed in to a small area right beside other diners. This seemes a strange approach to seating guests.

We live just on the outskirts of Belfast, and got such a good deal here we could NOT stay. On checkin it was noted my husband was celebrating his birthday, our room was upgraded to a suite, and we were offered a late check-out. The hotel was busy with wedding parties, so I would recommend you book ahead for either restaurant. We had a beverage or 2 in the adjoining Cultra Inn, after a pretty walk from the hotel thru the gardens. Def recommend it, wether you are local or not, and avail of the great service the Culloden has to offer.

I had very high expectations for this hotel and found that they were exceeded. Friendly staff, excellent room, good food and pleasant surroundings. What more could you want?

Went to the Culloden with high expectations. After all this is the self-slyled 'best five-star hotel in Northern Ireland'. We stayed in a 'Superior' room' , the lowest grade room. What a disappointment. Okay, it's the basic room, but this is nevertheless a 5 star establishment. Everything was present and correct, but the bed was uncomfortable (too soft), the furniture was dated and stained, the carpets were well-worn and the room was dark, drab and in dire need of updating. (Interestingly, threre was a safe, but it was not secured to anything!) The bathroom was a disgrace. It was tiny and the grout was stained and grubby, while the mastic round the bath was laced with mould. Outside the room was better. The pool was warm and fun, but we didn't try any of the spa treatments as they were predictably extortionate in price. Ditto the restaurant. Breakfast was fine, if uninspiring. Had better in my local greasy spoon at a fraction of the price (£20 here, incredibly!!).The surroundings are pretty, but not overly so.All in all the Culloden is a hotel that needs to take a good, hard look at itself. Like Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard it appears to think it has maintained the glamour it once (may have) had when, in reality, its wrinkles are showing and it is tired, anachronistic and rather sad. Very disappointing.

Hotel was lovely, really enjoyed the break. The spa area and pool are very nice and inviting. The only slight disappointment was the restaurant - I expected the quality of the food to be better for the calibre of the hotel. it was fine but nothing special. One plate sitting on the table was slightly dirty, it wasn't one we were going to eat directly from (just a place setting upon which the starter plate sits), but nonetheless disappointing. However overall we loved the hotel apart from the above comments, and would be interested in visiting again,

Stayed here as a treat while we shopped in IKEA (very convenient to it). Rate was a big reduction on the norm so I suppose we shouldn't gripe about the room but I would have been disappointed had I paid 5 star prices (bathroom in particular was near 3 star standard). Dinner restaurant service was below average but the food was really excellent. Ordered pancakes at breakfast that were definitely below par.

Breakfast was poor ,i.e only sramble eggs on menu ,sausages not cooked like they had just been boiled or heated in water.Expected better .Not enough food selection on their evening menu, very expensive.
