Surrounding Location:
The hotel is located in close proximity to Wenceslas Square - the most popular square and centre of Prague. It was founded in 1348 on the occasion of the foundation of New Town (Nove Mesto). It is one of the most visited places in Prague. Its dominating feature is the National Museum and the Statue of St. Wenceslas and other patrons of the Bohemian lands.
One of the significant events that took place on Wenceslas Square was the declaration of the First Czechoslovak Republic in 1918. In close proximity to the hotel there is St. Stephan´s Church which was founded in 1351 by Charles IV as a parish church and Rotunda of St. Longine, the smallest of the last preserved Prague´s rotundas, founded in the 12th century.
On the near rock we can find Vysehrad - historical fortification which dates back to the 10th century and is subject of many legends. Apart from breathtaking views of Vltava River and the whole city, Vysehrad is also ideal for pleasant walks.

| Avoid the Crystal Palace Hotel Prague.
We booked this hotel in January 2008 to stay in March 2008. When we arrived we were told that the booking had been cancelled by head office. We were deeply distressed by this and got no help whatsoever from the staff. We originally booked the hotel for 4 nights at €81 per night. The receptionist said they have a room for us for the first 2 nights at a rate of €95 per night. And that we had to find our own accommodation for the remaining 2 nights. The staffs were completely unhelpful.
The rooms are basic and shabby. The shower was broken in the bathroom and the hotel services (breakfast, reception & bar) were completely inadequate. |
