Classy vintage resort with a Hollywood hide-away history. We enjoyed walking around the wonderful old town square with its enticing bistros, bars restaurants and shops all just steps away. More than just a hotel - a beautiful destination of its own. We will definitely stay here again.

Charged an $8.00 + tax resort fee that we didn't know about until we checked in. Said it was for water (2 bottles in the room), parking, use of pool. Charged an $8.00 + tax resort fee that we didn't know about until we checked in. Said it was for water (2 bottles in the room), parking, use of pool, etc. All this is usually free in all the hotels we've stayed at. All we did was check in late, spend the night, and check out early.

We stayed here for visiting family and a small vacation. There were three of us; one young adult, one middle aged, and one disabled senior citizen. We also had a small dog travelling with us. The staff was very courteous, and handicap access here was superb. It's located in a small downtown area, with small shops lining the street it's on. There's also a small gift shop and starbucks in the lobby. The room we had was large, it had a small walk out outside sliding glass doors with a table and chairs, with beautiful palm trees lining the landscaping. The area was so very pretty. The room we had was older, but very nice and clean. It had a good sized bathroom, large closet, sitting chair with mirror, and TV and desk. No fridge, no microwave though. Very pet friendly room, and accessible.

I stayed here in July '08, August '08, and in December '08. The grounds are very peaceful and beautiful. The rooms are very clean and quiet. The hotel's dining, AJ's Restaurant and their staff, was my main reason for staying so often. I liked being able to get a bite to eat from 6 A.M. until late into the evening. In July and August, the pool was very relaxing. Sometime in the future, my whole family (wife and kids) will accompany me to this area and we will stay here for awhile. Other restaurants and shopping are within a short walk of the hotel.

Although the hotel had some age to it and looked like 40's or 50's architecture to it it; it had been given a make over. Hotel location was on Chandler city center with several restaurants around the corner including a Stabuck coffee place shops and local hang out for drinks. Across Arizona blvd. was a nice breakfast place. One night for diner (Sunday?)at the restaurant they had a prime rib buffet that was pretty good. Lobby was welcoming and rich in appearance. Front desk staff were very helpful and pleasant. Rooms were clean and the bedding was very comfortable and cozy and provided for a good night sleep. Room had a balcony which was nice to sit out on. Had a nice bar to lounge around after a long day of touring around. The pool was large and well keeped. On the down side, they brand themselves as a resort and charge resort prices which include charges for in room amenities and for all recreation facilities whether you use them or not. having stayed at a real "resort", I believe some upgrades need to be made before charging resort prices. Overall, our stay was pleasant and did not have any problems.

It was very cold outside the second night of our stay and only 60 degrees in the room. All the rooms are outside corridors so that makes it colder. You would think when the maids made up the room they would have turned the heat on a bit. We had to use cell phones to call the front desk because the room phone didn't work. They didn't offer us another room or to fix the phone. Also we were unable to get a wake up call or order room service.

Met expectations for price. Room smelled of smoke. Staff had it sprayed and turned out okay. Nice facility.

We stayed at this hotel for a week, the grounds and pool were beautiful. The service was terrible...it was a chore to get clean towels and even toilet paper, our bath tub was clogged and finally after 3 day they sent someone to fix it(yes we did ask everyday and even left a note for housekeeping). It also took 2 days to get a blanket for the hide-a bed(my son had to use beach towels for blankets) I will never stay at this hotel again, for the price we felt totally RIPPED-OFF

Although there was a slight musty oder at first the room was clean. It may not have been used for a while since the oder cleared out shortly after we arrived. The staff was helpfull and friendly. Pool, fitness center and hottub were great.

The hotel is romantic, cozy restaurant, covered eating areas, large swimming pool area, in an old historic downtown area.

Honestly, I was nearly horrified when I found out that I was staying here after reading the reviews. When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised that it was an attractive looking resort, but noticed that they dont have a valey (resorts should IMO). X and Y checked me in and they were REALLY helpful with everything. Even at the JW I dont get people as attentive as these guys were. I had to call to have my room cleaned by housekeeping twice during my stay, but it was quickly taken care of by the front desk. The area south of the resort is a lower income area and they apperently only have secutiry on the graveyard shift. Yet again the front desk took care of a guy roaming around the resort. The pool area was really nice and gave me a chance to socialize with some other travelers (work on the road gets boring). Breakfast was awesome. If you go, ask for Z because the other server, I swear to god, was drunk and horrible. The bartender was a lot of fun. Overall I will probably be back there for business and will stay at the San Marcos again. I should add that it helps if you speak spanish if you need anything from the service staff, It is in Arizona so that is to be expected. Happy travels!

Our room was dirty and the floor had sticky spots on it. The A/C would not cool down the room. The hotel had other guest that looked as if they had come off the street with just the clothes on their backs. We never saw any type of Security during our many trips to and from the room and this is a very large property set up like a Apartment complex. The restaurant was nice and they have a starbucks on property. Nice location in the old part of town but the men hanging out on the street corner of the hotel looking for work was a little unsettling. Employees tried to fix the problems but we still had the same problems in the next room.

Great location, clean, and excellent hotel. Restaurant staff was slow and not friendly. Excellent place to stay for families. Hotel was clean and the location was great. Hotel staff was friendly but restaurant staff was slow and didn't seem to concerned with customers.

This place needs to be destroyed. It is in a seedy area, the rooms are 1950 style and with the dirt from then to boot. Don't even go .

The facility was in need of up dating. You could tell it was a grand hotel in its day, but not really kept up. The room was very spacious(it was an executive room). Separate vanity area and large closets were a plus. Dining room and bar/lounge were always sparce of people. You felt like you were in no man's land. Beautiful pool and lounge area but no people and pool had some cracks and chipped concrete in places. Hotel was located in Chandler which again is a small town with not many people around. Excellent Mexican Restaurant nearby . Not too comfortable walking around property and side streets for exercise. Staff seemed new and inexperienced in dealing with client requests. Very friendly though. We did not eat at the restaurant except for breakfast. We did not play golf, but the pro shop and staff seemed unhelpful and bored with our presence.

I liked the lobby area and the golf course looked nice. The room was very utilitarian and of a much lower quality. They charge an $8/day resort fee, which is laughable. I was on a business trip, but had brought my family along. The room was very basic; about what one would expect at a Motel 6. The grounds were well-maintained and the golf course looked very attractive, but I did not get a chance to play. They did have two tennis courts, which also appeared to be in good shape. We went to the pool one afternoon and found it to be adequate, but not great. Overall, the experience was mediocre.

"This is a fair hotel at best, but certainly not a resort. We were first put in one of the single level casitas which were dungeonous. Our final room was very basic. The surrounding area does not help keep up the resort image either."

We were put in a room that had obviously not been renovated yet. The room was old, the shower curtain was mildewed and it smelled. The staff was unhelpful and unfriendly. I asked the front desk for assistance with directions, they couldn't even help. The lobby area had been renovated and it was very nice.
Date of Stay:

The staff is friendly and service oriented. The accommodations lacked amenities.
