We stayed there close to the Rice Village which is where we were intending to spend the evening. It was great to be able to have a shuttle service over there. The only down side was the water went out on us when we were leaving. Luckily showers had been taken.

Price, location, quiet, TV reception. Paying $8 for parking. It was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again.

I had stayed at this location 3 yrs ago and only returned becAUSE i SAW THEY HAD REMODELED AND IT IS A GREAT LOCATION. WELLTHEY HAVE OUTDone THEMSELVES, IT IS A BEAUTIFUL IMPROVEMENT, WITH A FEW DETAILS LEFT TO FINISH, LIKE THE BAR AND GIFT SHOP BUT THEY WILL BE DONE SOON,. gREAT LOCATION, EASY TO GET TO, VALET WAS FABULOUS AND CHEAP, AND YOU CAN PARK YOUR OWN VALET FOR 1/2 PRICE SO UP TO YOU IF YOU WANT TO WALK A FEW EXTRA STEPS. My teens slept great and we had a nice view of downtown, so I could not have asked for more. Free internet which is a plus with teens, and we had a microwave, and a coffee pot, was great! Front desk very helpful and checking in and out was a breeze. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, good prices also!

OMG! This hotel ruined chances of me staying at any Crowne Plaza ever again! There was a horrible smell on the entire floor. My room had pieces missing from the ceiling. Our refrigerator made this horrible noise on the second night, went out and ruined our food from the restaurant. Then morning of checkout we had no water or air. Imagine the smell when that happenend. No management on weekends to complain to all we could get was bottled water and I'm sorry.

We didn't like the room location and the water. We had ask for a non-smoking room and we got a smoking floor (there was a sign that said it was a smoking floor). Our room was next to the electrical room, right next to the elevators that made so much noise, it was difficult to fall asleep. The hot water in the bathroom was brown and one of the towels had a brown ugly spot on it. When we let the front desk know about the brown water and the noise from the elevators, the man at the front desk said that this was the first time he had heard that the water was coming brown and didn't know why and that the elevators did not make any noise. And about the smoking room, he said it was not a smoking floor, even though there was a sign saying that it was a smoking floor. The elevator in the parking garage was very hot.

We are a family of 5 that just want to getaway away for the weekend since our children had their spring break. We were promised that a roll-a-way bed will be in our room we get there. When we got there at 4:30 p.m., no roll-a-way bed in the room. So, we went out to sight-see downtown and came back at 8:00 p.m. Guess what? The roll-a-way bed still not in the room. We made several calls until 11:00 p.m. and each call we made, we were promised again and again that house-cleaning is on their way for the bed. Finally, my husband was forced to talk to the 2 night shift managers because it is getting late and we need to rest. My husband was told by the one of the night shift managers that they ran out of roll-a-way bed and the time now is almost midnight. My husband insisted that we get another room free of charge, or moved to another hotel and charges here will not be billed to us. She said she will call us back to check for room. After 30 minutes, we heard a knock at the door and there it was a roll-a-way bed. No one set the bed for us, the bed was just left on the hallway. We moved things around the room to fit the bed. Finally, we got to bed at 2:30 a.m. It was a terrible experience, we did get the rest and fun that we thought we should have.

Brought family here because we always like the Holiday Inn family of Hotels. Place was under going minor renovations, but everything was clean and staff was great as usual. Great location if going to the Galleria, the Zoo, and any of the Museums. If anything garage not Suburban friendly.

We really liked the design and cleanliness of the room. Probably what happened was unusual and beyond the staff's ability to quickly "fix" but the water stopped - in the midst of my husband's shower and while he was soaped up. This was, of course, pretty bad. But, probably not usual. The staff could, however, have been more consistent. The young woman who checked us in on a Saturday afternoon was quite friendly and helpful. When I later phoned to the desk, asking where the CD was that she had said would be in the room, the lady who was answering the front desk at 10 or so said she didn't know and she'd get back to me. She didn't; when an hour had passed, I phoned again. At this point a male (Hispanic I think) answered; he said he'd get one to us as soon as possible. Then, he phoned within a very few minutes to say the hotel was out of them and wouldn't get any more for a week. I do not see that as bad service - at no time did the guarantee it and it is obviously just a nice amenity. However, a prompt and polite response from the older woman would not have been difficult and would hve been nice. The same could be said of that voice at the front desk when I phoned to tell them our water was out. Again, I suspect it was beyond their control, but the rather brusque, you must be phoning about the water, too, attitude in which I was quickly dismissed was not the sign of true customer service. In general, these problems appear to be ones of personality as much as training; in both of the positive cases and in both of the negative ones, the problem was one of attitude. I like the movement to one king-size rather than the old two queen beds; I like the addition of the couch; the general outfitting of the rooms was relaxed, gave a reasonable amount of space, and seemed designed in an effective way. (the glass tables made that last check to see if we'd left anything easier, the refrigerator was a pleasant addition.)

The rooms had recently been remodeled. The small refrigerator was broken. They brought one up immediately. The remote didn't work. When they brought replacement it didn't work either. Third one worked. They activated one key and not the other so we were locked out and had to get key activated. The coffee pot did not work had to get a new one. Left at 7:15 a.m. for doctor's appointment arrived at 2:45 p.m. and room not cleaned. My daughter is recovering from surgery and needed to rest. They sent someone up immediately. When we came back, the counter was still dirty from our non working coffee making experience, a dirty cup was on nightstand and dirty glass on desk. I took them out to maid and asked her for clean ones. She gave me a clean glass. Said "no more' to coffee cup. Took the cup and I watched her go to room across hall rinse it out in bathroom sink and dry it with a towel and hand it back to me. When we checked out I wrote all of this down so the hotel manager could be aware and make it better for the next guest. The clerk behind the counter did not charge me for the $16 parking fee and apologized. I would not want to stay here again.

Checked in at 10pm to find no bell captain and no valet - halled our own bags to the desk - very short staffed, phone ringing off the wall at the front desk as we checked in only one attendent. Room was bright and clean - phones did not work unless I unplugged and plugged the jack in eachtime I used it. We heard a man pounding and yelling threatening words in the hall at the room across the hall . No answer at the front desk. Finally I rec'd an answer and was told security would take care of it. This went on for one hour. I was very frightened and called repeatedly. Only about 2 of my calls were answered by the font desk. At 2am after hearing shout and much profanity it seemed a constable had arrived and after another hour it was quiet. Next morning there was only one person in the breakfast room to wait on customers. Same person was delivering room service. Manager apologized for our "little" inconvienence from the night prior. Could not wait to leave this hotel.

Hotel rooms were completely remodeled.The beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept in.Still working on dining area,but not a problem.Room service was excellent.Located close to Gallaria mall.Easy to get to.My only complaint was that the parking garage was a little tight to park your car.Would definitly stay again.Very Clean!!!!!!

Excellent hotel for the price. Centrally located to downtown, the Hobby Center and Galleria Mall. They are still doing some remodeling but overall the work is done. The customer service was great. The rooms were decorated very nice with a very nice view of the city from my room. You can hear people inside the room as they go by sometimes if they were loud. Good parking deck. Overall my stay was wonderful and I would definitively stay again at the Holiday Inn Select.

I usually stay in the Galleria area to be close to things to do. On this visit to Houston I had to stay somewhere new as my other hotel was sold out. I ended up at this Holiday Inn Select. Before I stayed I saw on their website that they were renovating. And, boy was I surprised at how nice the rooms were! I understand that the lobby and restaurant have not been renovated yet but they told me that will be finished this summer and the hotel will become a Crowne Plaza. I will make it a point to come back to see the changes because the rooms are beautiful and the beds are so comfortable. Oh, the rooms also have refrigerators and microwaves and free internet. This hotel may become my new home in Houston!

first of all, I didn't know we had to pay for parking. And the staff was very rude to us. valet told us they were booked,even after we told him we had reservations. we had to sign papers before we could finish signing they were taking them out of our hands. really bad experience at front desk. sink and tub was leaking. also, fridge didnt cool.

Convenience to medical center. Felt there were several little things that were broken and not repaired - in halls, ice makers, etc. It served our purpose of being in Houston to be near the medical center which we will be there every 8 weeks for one week for over a year. It was adequate and worth the price we paid.

My husband and I stayed "in town" after seeing a play downtown. We found the Holiday Inn to be a wonderful place. The renovations are top-notch. Though we were only there for one night and left early the next morning, we found everything we experienced about the hotel to be very nice. For the price, it was a great value and a very pleasant experience. We will definitely stay here again.
