The only real complaint as to the HOuston Grand Plaza hotel was the lobby and restuart area seemed to have been very conservative on the use of air conditioning. Warm all most stuffy. Very convenient to Reliant Park, Astrodome and Medical Center with shuttles running to all.

I loved the pool. That the housekeepers through away a notebook that I left in the room. Great service, accommodations. I would love to stay here again.

If you are having to go to MD Anderson, this is a very good place to stay. The shuttle service runs from 6:30 am to 9:30 pm. This was very convenient because we had to be at the hospital late sometimes. Plus we didn't have to pay for parking at the hospital. It cost 15 for valet. On the days we didn't have to go for test, we were allowed to be dropped off somewhere within a 3 mile radius. The Rice Viilage was one place we visited to shop and eat. The hotel is now the Crown Plaza. They are still in the process of upgrading the rooms. We stayed in building 3 on the first floor and it was very nice and quiet. The only problem is the bathroom is too small, especially for tall people over 6 feet. Their Breakfast Buffet was BIG and delicious. It was free for 2 people per room only though.

Even though it is old, it looked clean and updated. It smelled like an old building. Check-in was quick and efficient. Our room was updated and clean, although some concessions to economy were made in the bathroom. Overall, it was fine, and I would stay here again.

Where do I begin? The hotel was chosen for a convention due to its large meeting area and from what it appeared to offer online. Many of our associates arrived earlier in the week and had to be mooved from room to room since their air conditioning stopped working. About half of the guests were complaining that the toilets did not flush properly and nobody would swim since the pools and hot tubs were very murky. There were obvious signs of renovation going on everywhere. Maintenance crews were in plain sight during the day and there were bare studs showing on walkway halls, paint buckets in some hallways, tool noises during the day, etc. The good points are that the beds are also new and very comfortable. The food was not bad, and if you go to catch a football game, it is by far the most convenient hotel. However, we went for something other than football.

Beds were comfortable and clean. The parking was ridiculous situation and staff was not very helpful. I will definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone, the parking situation was ridiculous and everythime we left whether it was 15 minutes to an hour or more the spots would all be sold.

I picked this hotel, despite the overall bad reviews, because it was available, near the M.D. Anderson Hospital, offered a special medical patient rate, and offered free shuttle service to the hospital area. It is in the midst of a needed remodeling project, and was lacking in several ways. However, the friendly and helpful staff, and the special rate given was a definite plus. The carpeting was new, the room freshly repainted, and the beds comfortable. The room was on the small size, and the promised microwave and refrigerator were not present when we first checked in. However, a request brought us both appliances within 30 minutes. Also, the bathroom was on the smaller size, and there was no mirror other than the bathroom one. On the plus side, the complimentary full breakfast was very good. I would be willing to stay there next visit, but probably not at the full rack rate.

They were polite and nice in the bar. The filthy toilet basins and inability to get a room made up.

this hotel is the absolute worst place I have ever stayed at!!!!! The price was a 4star and the accomidations were negitive 10. I have stayed at a cheap hotel and had better service and nicer rooms than what we were given. We read the reviews and took a chance and wished we wouldn't have. I can not express how horrible our experience was! It took us 4 times of changing rooms before we finally found a room that was decent enough to even stay in. If you stay here GOOD LUCK!!

Location and price. Under renovation. Poor work out facilities. I had trouble upon check-in.

We recently stay for our family reunion when the rooms were originally blocked we were told they were in the middle of a renovation. Rooms were dirty, it smells moldy, mold growing in the carpet, ceiling tiles stained in rooms and throughout hotel, bathtubs not clean, broken doors to building, stacks of old mattresses sitting outside, staff not helpful Their website is very misleading.

The price was reasonable. Was dirty, run down, and under construction. Room not made up. Hotel lobby looked nice upon check in, however when got to the room level, was shocked because hotel was filthy, and under construction. Room was not made up, and had previous occupant's trash left behind.

Staff was nice. Room was not made up once, loud party in the hallway at 12 pm. I do not think I would be interested in staying there again.

Close to medical center. Somewhat old and run down. Good price. Convenient to medical center. Not a place I would want to bring my family, but adequate for a short stay.

Location Scummy Rooms, no way was this a 3 star Cosmetically, the first floor decor imbues a misleading quality of the hotel. The room was abused and overused, bathtub was worn, the beds....anyway, bottom line is this was the worst experience.

When we got there there was no air conditioning in the heat of Texas and no attempt was made to repair it. We did not stay at this Hotel and are attempting to get our money refunded. There was no attempt while we were there to repair the broken air conditioning in the 8 story monster. The temperature was about 90 degrees inside the hotel. We stayed around the pool while they said it was being repaired. I saw no repairmen working on the unit while we were there. I may have tolerated the hotel if they made an effort. You would rather face a grizzly bear than face my wife with her temper boiling.

The location was across the road from the Reliant Center and across Loop 610 from Astroworld. The pool was very nice. Carpets were worn and not well vacuumed. The check-in staff was painfully slow and inefficient. The whole place was run down. While the Park Plaza must have been a very nice hotel in its day, it is now terribly run down. Everything needs a good renovation. The carpeting was old, worn and dirty. The hall ceiling tiles were low, some were missing, and many were stained. When I moved a chair in the room, there was litter underneath. The cleaning staff had not vacuumed the hallways recently nor the room thoroughly. The check-in staff was the slowest I have ever seen. The check-in process was terribly inefficient. The best part of this hotel was its location and the pool area. The pool was large and also must have been a sparkling, pristine place in its hey day. I would not go to this hotel again, nor would I recommend it to friends or strangers.

Good location. Old hotel, dirty pool. Hotel is in a great location, but it is old and out of date, the pool looked dirty and had to change rooms 3 times. I would not stay at this hotel again if I had the choice.

Location, location, location. Access to room, staff was aloof Older hotel, though maintained moderately well. Interior needed upgrade in several particulars. Staff seemed uninterested (some, not all). Bar and restaurant were very good, better than hotel in general. Sound insulation was lacking, such that walking in room above was audible.

This hotel had some great history. We loved seeing the penthouse and reading about who all had stayed there. They need to vacuum around the edge of the walls. It could be cleaner.
