Weloved this hotel! The staff was friendly, the room was large, and and the amenitities were more than expected. Not a thing. We were surprised by the wonderful room when we arrived. We expected so much less than we received. The bed was very comfortable, the room was extra spacious and the bath was more than ample space for a long time married couple to stretch his and hers things out in. The grounds were luscious and green and the staff was always friendly and helpful if needed. Some complain about the parking fee, but $12.00 daily is not much considering all hotels in the San Diego area are charging the fee at more than twice that rate in some areas. The restaurant facilities are easy to access for all ages as are the pool. My husband and I both noticed that the hotel appears to be a popular stop for the airline pilots (which is a clue for the rest of us that this is a comfortable hotel at a quality price). At one point we had to leave the Crowne and move down town to a much more expensive hotel because my husband was combining our vacation with work and we needed to go where his job wanted him. That hotel was over-priced, stuffy, historic, did not offer in-room coffee, and called there $25.00 daily parking rate valet parking to which my husband had the joy of parking and un parking our own vehicle 2 out of 3 days of our stay with them. For our last day of vacation we returned to the Crowne, booked a room, at an even lower price for returning a fourth night, and spent our last evening in San Diego once again in heaven. I highly recommend this hotel to all.

We thought this hotel was an excellent value for the price we paid. X at the front the front desk was superb to work with when I checked in and throughout the stay, he was very professional and helpful, as were the rest of the staff; always friendly, quick with a smile and very helpful. The grounds were kept very clean and for the most part were quite and comfortable. The room was clean and everything worked well, calls to the front desk were answered promptly and all of our requests were handled quickly and with a smile. Parking (which can be an extra fee in some cases) was crowded at most times during our stay, but adequate. It appeared that an addition was under construction during our stay, but did not effect us at all. The grounds were fenced in, including the parking lot. There was one main entrance to the facility and in my experience everyone walking through the door was observed upon entry. Other entrances were available after entering the parking area -- I had no concerns while staying here at all. The location was pretty well located for easy access to the sights, sounds, and flavors of San Diego; with a car and GPS unit the town was a snap to get around in.

This hotel is conveniently located to the airport and has easy access to freeways. The staff was very helpful, particularly Dave who talked us in when we got confused over directions from the airport. This is a destination resort. Kids will love the pool. Rooms are comfortable. Grounds are lovely. Expect to pay for parking. There are number of restaurants close by as an alternative to the hotel's restaurant.

This place impressed me with the waterfalls and ambiance. I was awed at the interior design, and great bell service, we greatly appreciated the shuttle. we went to the zoo (however it only left once per day) and I needed to get to the mall so the mile-radius provided was useful. maid/towel service: I had accidentally left out our privacy sign all day saturday but still the next morning we did not get any service. I had taken it down after a saturday night, while expecting service on sunday morning. we had been there since friday evening (skipping service saturday) and were away for a good part of sunday, only to return to our room after swimming and working out in the gym without fresh towels (we were out of them after being there 2 days) I had to call the front desk to request maid service in the afternoon, but it should have appeared while we were away earlier in the day. my fiance was unsure about the one treadmill in the gym-he's military and exercises every day fairly extensively-3 mile runs norm. he was afraid it was dysfunctional because it would not keep up? The location, however, was not within walking distance to many restaurants. I am from the east coast and did find the prices to be a bit steep, but the food was great, and a nice barbeque on saturday for a quick dinner. we ate at the steakhouse next door and it was very convenient and casual, but the with the freeway dividing other options (we had no car) I was a bit limited to dining as for location/transportation, I was not pleased at the taxi fare to and from the beach. I also did not know of any other area attractions that would have been great recreation without paying too much. room service was too expensive to consider, but the restaurant prices were not much less. I would have preferred a complimentary breakfast of simple coffee and pastries than the buffet price of $16 per person; I did not take part in the huge offering, however my fiance did. all in all i greatly enjoyed my stay-this is the fi

Staff was very friendly. Cost to park my personal car, hotel was not what I thought a 3 star hotel should be. Construction in progress, site was not clean.

We stayed here for a week over Christmas while visiting family. We received an upgrade to a pool view room that had no working TV or safe, but both were fixed shortly after caling about the problem. The beds were very comfortable and the room was certainly worth the amount we paid. This is an excellent and convenient location. The grounds were nice and although it was too cold to use the pool, it looked nice. There is apparently a lot of upgrade maintenance going on and for the price this is a nice place to stay. One downside during our stay was that the two glass elevators overlooking the atrium were busted. They were worked on every day, and finally one of them was fixed the night before we left. This made for extremely "long" waits for a ride on the other central elevator. We'll probably stay there next year, although we will check the prices on a couple of other nice looking places on hotel circle.

Coming from a beautiful ranch near Sedona, Az I did not expect to find such comfort with such a lovely view from our window. We were on the 8th floor with a great morning view of the SD river and the golf course beyond. We were already prepared for parking fees and internet use fees so were not surprised by these; take heed. We heard the toads crooning all night just like home and we slept extremely well. We found here, what we provide our guests in Sedona. This establishment markets sleeping comfort and we were not diasppointed except that I would have stayed longer had we known we would find such a place in a busy city at such a reasonable price. Since it was on hotel cricle, It was convenient to major highways to get to our destinations quickly, but not near enough to be bothered by traffic noise. I will stay again when in SD and also will look for this hotel chain in other cities as well just for the beds!

Thought the overall experience was great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We did have to ask for extra towels but that was taken care of within 10 minutes. Everything is within a relatively short driving distance (Zoo, Sea World, beaches). The buffet was a little pricey but thought the menu prices were reasonable. My only complaint would have been the housekeeping staff could have been a little more thorough when vacuuming and cleaning of the corners of the room and bathroom - not just the cursory cleaning of the main area. Other wise it was a great place to stay - we were in a room overlooking the golf course and it was very quiet at night - which was surprising considering we stayed over a weekend.

I booked this reservatiuon with no knowledge about the hotel other than it carrried the Crowne Plaza brand name. In my travels I've come to expect Crowne Plazas to be business class hotel towers with large comfortable rooms accessed via elevators situated in a spacious marble and granite lobby. This Crowne Plaza is reminiscent of 1960's era Holiday Inn with rooms entered from an open courtyard surrounding the pool. Once in side the room was quite decent but I am concerned about the security of this open courtyard layout. The hotel description deceptively states that it is near the oldtown Gaslamp district. In fact, it is ten miles from there on bleak and difficult-to-access service road of the I-8 named "Hotel Circle" I always try to stay at Crowne Plaza or Intercontinental Hotels thinking that I will know what to expect. In this case I was deceived. Avoid unless you want a similar experience.

The Crown Plaza was a pleasant surprise for my husband and I....I had just finished a conference at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, listed as 5 star right on the National Open Torrey Pines Golf Course. We then moved to the Crown Plaza in Mission Valley near Old Town to spend a few days discovering San Diego. We enjoyed the Crown Plaza much more! Room was great, Lush Foliage in the Court Yards was far nicer than the Torrey Pines, the staff was friendly, and the pool nicer. Hotel was closer to all of the sights to see, and very close to Old Town, which we really appreciated. A definite strong effort had been made to keep security to a peak, and the Hawaiin pupu bar was an added treat. This Hotel is Very Family Friendly, and the many of the customes were families with small children, but this was not a detriment, and I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to families as well as couples-only folks....fun and beautiful place.

This was a wonderful choice of hotels. Friendly staff, beautiful room (requested golf course view, upper floor) excellent service in all areas (reservations, front desk, restaurant, shuttle service) delicious food in restaurant, free shuttles to several places. Only wish they shuttled to airport, cruise ship port. We would definitely choose and recommend this hotel again. 5 star!

My wife and I stayed here in late June. The hotel is centrally located for all the sights in San Diego. We requested a room away from the freeway, and were given one on the 8th floor overlooking a golf course. It was very quiet at night. While it is an older hotel the rooms are updated and very clean. We especially liked having a refrigerator in the room. Very handy for cold drinks and at cocktail hour. The pool and spa area are lovely. We really enjoyed the spa after a day of walking around the zoo. This is a really nice three star in a great location. We would definitely return to the Crowne Plaza.

Had planned on going to Sea World, Old Town and to the beach.Did not find a good beach in San Diego, so ended up going to La Joya, and the beach was great. We and the children really enjoyed it. The hotel location is very good; away from the down town traffic and the views from the hotel are much better than at a down town hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We would like to go back to this hotel.
