I visited a family member that is sick, close by, and the hotel staff were exceptionally helpful. I visit this hotel every 6 weeks and would not change a thing. The restaurant staff are very helpful and the food is great! I would rate this hotel for the price, an awesome choice.

Cozy and good breakfast buffet. We asked for a smoking room and were not given one. Everything is great except we didn't get the smoking room we wanted. That's not a small issue in a big sky rise hotel.

My husband and I were going to a concert. We splurged a bit on this hotel instead of going to something ruddy like usual and it was very nice. I walked in wearing heavily chained pants and a bleached, old, tacky Slayer shirt and the staff still treated me like they would have if I had walked in wearing full Armani. A couple things that bugged me was that when I got to the room the batteries in the t.v. remote were dead, but I called and they were up in five minutes with fresh batteries. Also, you had to pay for parking, which wasn't something we were prepared for. Over all though, it was extremely nice and very worth the money.

we wanted a hotel that was conveniently located for travel to various areas of town and this was the best site for us to go south, west, and east without using a lot of gas and wasted time in traffic. We asked for a smoking room which were all located on the 12 fl. However, it was the noisy floor in the hotel and we had a very restless night, had to call the desk 3 times and thought about calling police. The desk mgr and hotel staff tried to take care of the problem guest and we were given 2 breakfast buffets for our discomfort. We thank them for the courtesy.

The bathroom was amazing! Very classy, not like any we've seen before. The mattress was lousy. Overall a nice place, but watch out for the mattresses. The one we had was was too bouncy and soft.

Upon arrival we were booked in smoking room but we do not smoke. The room smelled like old stalled smoke. Ask to move rooms was able to accomadate the following day. Non smoking room seemed nicer! Of course fresh. View was specatular. Front desk employees were very nice and thoughtful! Especially Mattie!! Elevators broke had only one working for one day with 15 stories that was not cute. Pool is totally in doors no sunlight and water was cold. Jacuzzi was cold too. Found it cheaper to pay meters some days only $*/hr avail most of time. No meter charge on weekends!! Overall after moving to the nonsmoking room we were satisfied. Oops forgot did not like the mattress and hated pillows poly stuffing and clumpy. I would stay again just as for nonsmoking room and bring your own pillows. Great Location! Enjoy.

The Crowne PLaza , Richmond Downtown , is a hotel where you can expect great service. All the staff were very kind, and attentive to the patrons, often asking if everything ok, whether you were in need of help, etc. They paid attention to each and every person, and went above and beyond to let each guest know that they were appreciated.

Room was nicely decorated. Beds, sink in center -not good for 2 people. This hotel was fine - I don't recommend sharing a bed since they slope to center. Staff was lovely and helpful. Best for business use.

My 6-year old son and I stayed one night there to do some bike-riding , canal boat ride & swim in the hotel pool (which was pretty nice). However, when we got there, the hotel elevator got stuck, freaking out my son. They got us out after about 10 minutes - we had to jump down a couple of feet onto the 3rd floor after someone opened up the doors manually from the outside. A manager gave us a free breakfast and upgraded our stay to a suite, which I thought was fair compensation for the incident. When I later asked the front desk about the elevators, they claimed that they do get stuck occasionally (??!!), but that it shouldn't have taken 10 minutes to get us out. The next morning when we were checking out, people were complaining that the parking gartage elevator had broken! The employees were nice, not overtly rude at all, but slightly less "professional" than those of other comparably priced hotels. Moral of the story - If you stay here, get a low floor and take the stairs.

The Crown Plaza in Richmond is a very nice place to stay. It is in a good location, close to all the sites, friendly staff, clean, with very nice excercise facilities.

Really quick check in and the beds are so comfortable. No fan in the bathroom. A splendid stay.

I stayed at this hotel because they offered a great discount price to the group with which I traveled. Unfortunately, myself and other members of the group had a terrible experience. My first night there, the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate at 4:30 a.m. That wasn't bad in and of itself. The bad part was that they didn't have anybody who knew how to properly reset it, and it went off again 5 more times in the course of 90 minutes. Also, the ground level exit doors in both emergency stairs would not open. We had to back-track to the third floor, and go down the hall to the other stairs to exit at the lobby level. If there had been an actual fire, this would have been catastrophic. In addition, upon arrival I found the carpet to be quite damp and obviously water damaged near the AC unit. It turned out a hose had become disconnected. I found broken glass on the bathroom floor - with my bare foot! And the fun doesn't stop there. We left a suitable tip for housekeeping each day. Sometimes the tip was taken, other days it was not, but we never had consistent restocking of the in-room coffee and cup supplies. Our group was also supposed to have fridges in our rooms, but most of us had to ask for them after our arrival. And the hot tub was never "hot", only warm.

"The service at this hotel was not good at all. The hotel made many mistakes and when this was brought to their attention, all they could say was thank you have a great day. I will never stay here again and I will not recommend that anyone stay at this hotel either."

The Crown Plaza Downtown has a very friendly and helpful staff which made checking in/out and service a breeze. The room seemed much larger than most with a great view of the Shockoe Bottoms and a sense being secluded from other guests. On the bed was provided sleeping masks, a curtain clip, a white noise CD and lavender linen spray in a small attractive bag with instructions to use to get a great night's rest. We used the things provided and had the best night's sleep I've had in any hotel stay. The restaurant's selection for dinner is great and the breakfast buffet is supurb in taste, presentation and price. Warning: the only downfall to this hotel is that the parking lot is extremely small and under construction currently, so large vehicles beware! Even with this consideration, I highly recommend staying in this hotel for a visit to a very beautiful city.

Great bathroom facilities, nice mattress on the king-sized bed. Did not have an outdoor pool, did not have a great view of the city. The hotel was very nice - the staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was convenient to both downtown and the interstate.

It was a nice stay overall, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable, and quiet. The only thing was the bathroom vent was crusted with dirt and dust causing the bathroom to take longer to ventilate. And it took a day and a half to pick up a tray when room service was ordered by my travel mate. We finally took the tray and left it in the hall for pick up! But other than those two things my stay was nice.

The location was convenient to downtown. Easy to get around. Had to pay for parking. The hotel is upscale and is in great location downtown Richmond. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We received a free room as part of a rewards program and were given a very nice room on the 16th floor of the hotel. The concierge lounge was closed for the holiday weekend but it looked nice. The hotel was convenient to downtown and nearby restaurants. Easy access to I95/I64. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside were the young people next door who were a bit noisy late into the night. Good place for a business stay for buildings down near the James River.
