We certainly don't understand the negative evaluations we've read elsewhere about this hotel. We were VERY pleased. Not only did they accept a $50/night bid , but they are only a block away from the convention center, walking distance to good eating, have a parking ramp ($13/night) and FREE wireless internet in our room. The hotel is non-smoking, the beds have a sleep number and were very comfortable, the elevators were very fast, the staff was pleasant and helpful, the air conditioning did not blow directly on the beds which we've often seen elsewhere and personally find uncomfortable. Our room was clean and comfortable. Only "problem" was they were painting in the pool area (it is outdoor only) so it was not available and there is no hot tub. Exercise room was great.

We were welcomed by a knowledgeable and courteous front desk clerk and were pleasantly surprised with a free upgrade upon arrival. The on site parking was convenient and safe. The hotel was within walking distance to downtown restaurants. The Starbucks on site was a plus. The only downfall was that the pool was not in a prime location for afternoon sun as the building casted a shadow. Checkout was a breeze.

I recently gave this hotel another chance and was surprised to see they are under a major renovation. No new rooms were available yet, but the service has improved since my stay last summer. The lounge is completely new and the restaurant has been completely updated. Still work being done in the lobby and rooms, but it didn't disturb our stay. Brand new fitness center was up so I was able to get in a good workout. Free business center now available so I could print off my reports for my meeting. Pictures in lobby of the new rooms. Looks like this will be a NEW hotel by June of 2009. Can't wait to come back and experience the new hotel!

We enjoyed the location in the Power & Light District, but the hotel itself was disappointing. Clearly under a major renovation, it did not smell clean and several floors were completely gutted. Ice machines were out of service in 5 of the 10 floors we tried. The elevators closest to our room were service elevators and in terrible condition. The hotel garage cost $13 per night. The staff listened to complaints but did nothing to correct them. On the plus side, the hotel's shuttle service will take you wherever you'd like to go within reason and the driver was very nice and knowledgable.

I loved staying here. The staff was very helpful. The only negative about the room was there was not a mini fridge which kind of surprised us. The parking was ten dollars also, but we already knew to expect that because we read the other reviews off Priceline before we stayed at this hotel, which really was beautiful.

We reserved a suite expecting top of the line accomodatoins. Not so. The bed linens were dirty, as if the staff dragged them across the floor. The bathroom floor had visible dirt smears with footprints. The wallpaper was ripped and the trim of the countertop was missing. Upon informing the hotel staff of the dirty linens, they sent a security officer up to the room wtth a pile of linens, as if I was the housekeeping staff and should change the bed myself. To make matters worse, there was a college function on the 28th floor. The party goers could be heard all the way down to the 20th floor after 1 am. I expected much more from the hotel, especially at that cost and location. We will not be staying there again and will not recommend it to anyone.

We came to Kansas City to watch a concert at the Sprint Center. The rooms had been newly remodeled. The staff was very friendly. We were told that each person over the age of 21 would get 2 free drink tickets to the lounge that was on our floor. Well, the lounge didn't exist yet. So there weren't any free drink tickets. :-(

We stayed here for an event at Bartle Hall- just one block away. Good service and clean rooms. Biggest draw back was that we stayed over a holiday weekend and with this being downtown, no restaurants except Denny's were open. The hotel restaurant was open limited hours and very expensive. The parking is expensive but you can come and go unlimited times per day.

For the most part, the hotel was very clean and well kept. It has the potential for 5 Star ratings, but in order for that to take place, they need to start with great customer service. The rooms were very accommodating with my only complaint being how cramped and tight spaced the bathroom was. The only negative part to the experience would have to be the absence of Valet Parking as their parking garage was too full and Guest Services. When I called in the afternoon to check to see if it would be alright for me and my guest to have a late check in, Sherry was very rude and short with me on the phone. When I later called back for directions, she was once again rude and impatient with me as I was not familiar with the area and wanted to clarify where it was located. Overall, the rooms were more well kept than the Hilton President but just lacked the 5 Star treatment from staff.

Room conditions were horrible.We were moved to three different rooms in the 1st hour and a half. First room,puddle of water in front of window from leak,Second room,air conditioner did not work,then "upgraded" to a King suite (one bed and single hide a bed for 4 people).Got settled and tub fauchet blew off the wall when shower was turned on. M.O.D. came up to room and took report and said the hotel was recently bought and they adopted all the problems,gave us 4 full breakfast vouchers and stated we would hear from general manager next week. Requested a roll-away. Did not recieve it until back from event at midnight. Request blankets for roll away and was told they were out. Offered to move us to another room,at midnight! Just wanted to get some sleep. Noticed the next day that the shower leaked through the wall into the entry way and the lamp on the wall was burning the lamp shade due to having too high of a watt lightbulb. The parking is $13 a night,the pool and deck chairs were outdated,cleaner rooms at truck stops.Advertised at 4 stars, my a**.

I was there for a bachelorette party. The staff upgraded a couple rooms just so we could all stay in rooms next to each other which was perfect. We walked to the power and light district which was very close. Staff answered all questions and gave us information about where to go that night. I stayed at this same hotel 2 months ago for a conference and the only thing I would change is the parking situation. I didn't like having to park in the garage and pay.

Hotel was kind enough to let me check in at 11am so that I could spend the day in KC with out my luggage. Very accomadating. Not enough snack machines for us night owls. Very good hotel, nice people, nice rooms, Starbucks in the lobby. Very helpful employees.

Carpet was dirty in our room. Bathroom could use some help. Asked for a roll away bed in the morning at check-in and was told they would put one in our room. When I called in the evening since the roll away bed was not put in our room was told we could not have one in our room because of fire code. My grandson slept on the floor. Glass in revolving door on entrance was broken and looked like it could fall out any minute. No help with our suitcases on arrival. On the positive it was close to the Music Hall and Power and Light District. Paid $13.00 for parking in covered lot when I was already paying for a room to stay in. The public could pay $13.00 to park there. Should be a discount for people staying in hotel.

This hotel has a nice location but is badly in need of renovation. Better cleaning would be a start. The carpet in our room and the hallway was stained badly, the floor in the room was dirty. Defects in the wall coverings were present. In the exercise room, the weight machine was filthy- dust and hair on the equipment. The lobby was the best part as it was very clean and attractive. We had 3 bugs crawl across the floor, hate to imagine how many were there that we did not see. Bathroom did not appear clean- I tried to scrub the edge of the door and these marks were permanent. I would have left for another hotel if we had more time.

Located close to entertainment district. Bathtub was filthy, brown mold covering White caulk in corners. I've stayed at this hotel before and was pleased. This time I just couldn't get over the brown crud in the corners of the tub. We stayed overnight and did not use the tub. Room service food was average and extremely overpriced. Staff was friendly, beds were comfortable. TV had very few channels for cable.

My 8 year old daughter and I went to a WWE event at the Kemper arena. This hotel is very close and was really nice. The bed was a sleep number bed and it was wonderful. I can't remember when I slept so good! The Bistro was way too overpriced for us though. I cannot see myself paying 10.00 for salad and almost 3.00 for a glass of diet pepsi. We were on the 24th floor and the view at night was breaktaking.

The price is too high for the quality!? We were disappointed that now guests?have to pay $13.00 daily for parking!? The food, is also, way too expensive for the quality.We stay there because of the location---so close to the Municipal Auditorium.? Always before there has been a special rate for MIAA Basketball Tournament guests---not this year!
