This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I stay over 200 nights a year in hotel and this place topped them all as horrendous. The front desk staff/management was extremely rude to foreigners. The hotel is undergoing construction, which they do not inform you of until check-in. Very loud and intrusive. We were charged 150Euro fee to for smoking fee, although my wife nor I smoke. There are many better choices and I would suggest staying at any of them!...Good luck if you decide to try this outdated and subpar accommodations even for an economy hotel, not even close to the standards of Crown Plazas.BEWARE and STAY AWAY!

I found this hotel to be more of a 2 star to be honest. The room was absolutely atrocious and dirty

This was our first time in Amsterdam and the staff was very welcoming. The rooms were small but nice. They are in the middle of rennovation so our elevator to our room was out of service and we had to use a longer more inconvenient route. The pool and fitness center were closed during our stay as well. When the hotel is finished being rennovated, I feel it will be much better. Overall our stay was great. The one complaint I had was that I used a pre-paid card from home and thought since it was an 800 number that I would not be charged. Upon our checking out I was given a $200 phone bill. I was extremely unhappy that I wasn't made aware that phone cards purchased in the US weren't the same as ones purchased in Holland. Other than that, our stay was great!

They were efficient and quick. They were unwilling to let us stay past the checkout time (even for an hour). For an Amsterdam tourist this hotel is conveniently located and provides a comfortable stay. No need to bring shampoo, or toothpaste or toothbrush because all are complimentary. The presentation of the guest rooms could be better, but overall it's nothing to complain about.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed at. There are many much nicer places to stay in the city centre. Very rude staff and it's a very dirty old hotel. Location was adequate, but the disrespect by staff and dirtiness far outweigh the one and only perk. They will not upgrade you even if you are Platinum and it id guaranteed upgrade to best room available. I do not believe any room at this hotel would be adequate for a Crowne Plaza....Do yourself and family a favor and stay anywhere else in Amsterdam...People in this city are very cordial and friendly except at this hotel!

One could not pick a better location in Amsterdam. The Concierge was an incredible giving me info on everything including how warm to dress for the day. I would definetely stay there again.

Usaual high standardThis is a hotel I use again and again. It has a perfect location for a short walk from Central station. The staff are freindly, multilingual and eager to help. One of my favourite things in this hotel is the members lounge at the top of the hotel. Excellent wi fi, perfect view across Amsterdam and within easy tram or walking distance of Amsterdam's great range of Bars and Restaurants. I use it as a base from where I travel round the Netherlands using the superb train service from Central Station.Despite it's central location on a very busy street it has always been quiet and restained.

Great location. Great and attentive staff. Nicely remodeled rooms. Unfortunate that you cannot take advantage of all amenities until after remodeling in August 2009.

There are nicer hostels in AMS...This is subpar by economoy standards, let alone crowne plaza. Rude front desk staff, housekeeping went through luggage andentered room even with do not disturb sign on door. Very dirty and disgusting hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Many nicer, cheaper hotels.

This was the best hotel we stayed at while in Europe. Comfortable rooms, within walking distance of most of Amsterdam's tourist sights, a short walk from the station, canal cruises and shopping. My only complaint was that the breakfast was expensive, but there's a couple of alternatives within walking distance. Next time I go there, it's definitely where I'm staying.

We were shocked at the price of breakfast..... a massive 24 Euro EACH!! . This was a fixed price irrespective of what you wanted. The waitress who showed us to our table was clearly embarrassed when she told us the price. For that price you got a very average buffet breakfast of mass cooked bacon stuck together, solidified scrambled egg and undercooked tomato.... We had breakfast in the hotel once and ate elsewhere for the remainder of our stay where we received fresh cooked food and freshly made coffee for 17 Euro for both of us!!For the price we paid for the room, we felt that it was nothing special. The decoration was tired and in need of freshening-up. All-in-all we were disappointed and, having lived in the city for 7-years with frequent visitors, we know that Amsterdam has much better hotels in this price range.

The Crowne Plaza in Amsterdam is a very convenient place to stay for your first visit to Amsterdam. Located at the heart of the central district, this hotel is within walking distance on a number of resturants, coffee houses. While the hotel is beginning to age some, I was told that they are planning a facelift to begin sometimes in 2009. The staff is very friendly and rooms are kept VERY clean! Common areas are kept neat and fresh and there is always helpful staff to recommend places to eat or how to get around the city. If you go in winter, drink plenty of water as the hotel is heating system and weather can dry you out quickly.
