Location. Breakfast was expensive. The hotel is in a prime Christchurch location with easy walking to all the central tourist areas of the city. The staff is excellent and cheery and rooms were nicely appointed and quiet during our stay.

A luxury hotel with many amenities for the business traveler, the weekend getaway. On premises are several upscale restaurants including a Japanese steakhouse. The main floor has a large open dining area that is frequented by an older crowd in the evening. It appears to be a destination for after event dining coffe and drinks. An external elevator provides grand vistas of the Southern Alps. Japanese families who were down for skiing stayed here. I understand that the ski fields which are 1.5 to 2 hrs away do not have local accomodations. The hotel sits on a square and is within walking distance of the central shopping area. The club level lounge is well appointed. The rooms are large, modern and very comfortable. the AC/heating system is electronic and worked well. I would certainly stay here again

Excellant, really enjoyable stay. Nothing was to much trouble. Yamagen japanese resteraunt cuisine was delicious. Would have no hesitation in staying there again.
