It is a Crowne Plaza and we got exactly what we expectedWhen booking hotels you made a choice about what you want for the occasion. We wanted a city centre hotel where we knew there were not going to be any risks, that the room quality was high and service you expect for the money you pay. In this respect we got exactly what we thought we would, it is a Crowne Plaza after all.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cambridge is a typical modern hotel with the usual amenities. It could never be considered charming but is clearly geared to the business traveler--and probably one on an expense account. The breakfast could not be ordered a la carte but had to be either Continental or cooked buffet and each option was quite expensive. The bed had a duvet rather than sheets and blankets which seems to be a trend today--unfortunately it was warm in England and this made sleeping quite uncomfortable.

Hotel staff was rude, the housekeeping was terrible and never cleaned our room in 10 days, and we had to ask for new towels everyday.

Our company (Brady PLC) had our Christmas party here on 11 Dec 08. No one came to Quinns bar where we had pre-dinner drinks to tell the group to move to the dining area, as had been promised. The food service was slow. The food was poor as it clearly had been standing on hot plates or similar such that it was terribly dried up! However the manager of Quinns bar deserves a mention for going beyond his duty to ensure the rest of the eveing went very well.

When I rang the reception of the morning of the booking to confirm - they had only reserved only one room when i had booked two. The second bedroom was then arranged but when on arrival the second room was a smoking room in terrible condition, it was a hot day and we was unable to open the window and overall a very low standard for £190 a night room - plus no breakfast. When asked to move, - There was no other rooms avaiable and the reason why we could not be moved was because we had "booked that day" which was incorrect they had not made my reservation correct which i had booked 3 days prior. They sent a cleaner to spray air freshner but we was unable to use the aircon if we did not want the smoke smell to be circulated.... it was a very hot day so we had to ask for the stuck window to be opened. When we complained on checking out - the manager asked us "what he should do about it" - we replied as a manger he should know? and then decided to comp our very expensive breakfasts. We use this hotel very often for business and have found this to be a very good standard hotel but on this occasion the standards have slipped.

Location was center of town. In room tea service was not replenished through week long stay.

Continental breakfast: good selection from buffet, but rather pricey. Full English breakfast at just £2 more would have been better value.

Good central location breakfast could have been fresher

USA sized rooms in the UK where the rooms are small. Very expensive breakfast. Nearby diners were half price. The rooms were comparable to USA sized rooms. The breakfast with provided coupon was 10.50 GBP, expensive. Diners less than a block away (5 min walk) had large English breakfasts for 4.25 GBP. The WiFi access was very expensive at 10.00 GBP/night. Other smaller hotels offered WiFi access for free. Front desk personnel were friendly.

Very clean and well maintained. Very nice, helpful and courteous staff. Check-in was fast, efficient and very charming young lady.Nice breakfast with good, efficient service. Very punctual with parking and returning my car with bags packed inside. Good location near centre of Cambridge. Nevertheless, I thought that it was expensive for October for room-only.

OverpricedDisappointing. £175 a pop for an ordinary, adequate 3 star double room with no breakfast. Breakfast prices exorbitant. Minibar empty (I didn't complain, because we don't use it, but we noticed), no ladies shower cap (that we did need, but when you notice, its too late to chase them up), basin fitting rusty, plastic key was a long struggle to get to work (isn't it alweays). None of these serious in themselves, but a big let down when your looking forward to a £175 room.

Friendly staff. Rising bollards and one way system. Had to hire a cab to follow. Position perfect. Food and drink expensive.

Convenient, roomy, clean, staff were very hospitable. The hotel was very snappy. I was well-attended to by staff. Was handled quickly at check-in. Pricey for breakfast.

Convenient Location in City CentreThe room was equipped with teamaking facilities. Breakfast prices were very expensive. It was possible to eat just as well for far less money in nearby restaurants. Parking facilities were very good. Valet service for cars was efficient.

Dining was 4star, bed was comfortable. Service was terrible. Charges for mini bar we never used. Couldn't find reservations twice. The hotel is not four-star. Food was excellent but restaurant service was poor. Bar service and reservation reception was poor and inefficient. We had to wait a long time to be served in the bar and to get our bill. Twice they couldn't find reservation even though we had paid in advance. Charged us for mini bar we never used. They corrected bill after we protested. No Wi-Fi internet access in lobby. It wasn't a four star hotel except for the food.

Excellent location, pity the staff could not force a smile! The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring Cambridge on foot. The staff were not at all friendly and there is a general lack of information available about the city. The prices in the bar are outrageous; as a result it was generally empty and lacking in atmosphere. No problems with the quality or cleanliness of the room.

The bed and comforter were perhaps the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Maid service was later in the day; a room service charge was misapplied (but quickly fixed once pointed out). The hotel is in a great location between Cambridge City Center and Bus/Train stations. The rooms were very spacious (especially for UK hotel) and service was great. Rooms have in-room controlled air conditioning, a plus in the UK. For the same price as some of our friends paid for a guest house with a shared bath, we had a lovely room with our own bathroom, maid service and convenient in-building facilities. Would have liked a safe in the room, but otherwise it was great.

Very Central SituationPerfect situation 1min from John lewis and the centre, 3 minutes from the theatre and 5 mins from Kings College. Rooms large but considering the price the bathroom was a bit tired (sink cracked), breakfast superb. Expensive but location, location.

Well located for the University and the sights of Cambridge. The air conditioning was POOR and the breakfast over priced. A well located hotel to visit Cambridge and the University. It was warm and the cooling system in the room was worthless! Also found the breakfast cost of the buffet too high, 15L.
