Excellent hotel, most welcoming staff, external scaffolding fails to detract from the quality Will revisit, will recommend

Poor value for money and not accurately advertisedThis was a much looked forward to one night stay in Scarborough. We decided to go for the best to ensure a good stay so selected the Crown Spa as the only 4 star hotel. We were very disappointed to arrive and see the whole building clad in scaffolding. This was not pointed out in any of the booking information. We were given a room at the back of the hotel. The view from the room was severely restricted by scaffolding and walkways. In addition the outlook was on to a builders yard. The room itself had a restricted access through the entrance door. The bathroom was totally unsuitable for anyone with a neck or shoulder injury as the bath was concealed behind a three quarter wall. Access was very restricted. We did not think to mention that my wife has a neck injury when we booked as we thought we had paid for quality accomodation. The breakfast food was adequate but we are glad that we had dinner out the night before rather than take the risk of eating in the hotel. All in all a very disappointing experience and one which has put us off both the Crown Spa and Scarborough.

Fantastic hotel (apart from the building work on the outside, which you were warned about when booking). Beautiful rooms over looking the cliff and the sea, beautiful surrounding area. Quiet and relaxed hotel, nothing was ever too much bother. Clean and well presented staff and rooms, Lovely spa area to relax and unwind. Can highly recommend this hotel to families and couples.

scarborough crown spa hotelWe stayed for one night only. The staff were polite and accommodating. The lounge reception area was very comfortable and the bar meals were very nice. The hotel was very clean throughout and the room was spacious with the modern decor to a very high quality. My wife enjoyed the spa facilities. The recent damge to the roof meant the hotel was covered in scaffolding, we were informed of this before our stay on the website and it did not detract from a pleasnt stay.i would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in scarborough and I will definitely stay again for the next scooter rally!

Crown Spa Break.I work all over the country, and stay in many hotels. This one had a distinct disadvantage from the start as it was clad in scaffolding, something not stated on late rooms when I booked. However, the hotel itself made up for this from the start, firstly by ackowledging the problem with a welcome pack and an apologetic letter, then by just being a perfect place to spend a weekend break. Scarborough is returning to it's rightful place as the jewel in the crown of the Yorkshire riviera, the essence of recovery seems to be in the air and recent investment in the town is very much in evidence. The obviously costly renovation of the exterior of the Crown Spa is further more reason to believe Scarborough is on the way back.Hotel and it's facilities were extremely well looked after and the staff seem to be well trained and very pleasant.Overall, very pleased. I will return when I get the chance.

The Crown Spa, ScarboroughThe hotel has a fabulous position at the top of the cliff over looking the bay - it was gorgeous.Th staff were really friendly and professional, the room very clean with the food being excellent quality. The leisure facilities were varied and lovely.I would have liked to have extended my stay!

The hotel would have been marvellous if it had not had a dammaged roof and the scaffolding in front of it hadn't spoilt the view from our window. The two night stay was for our 25th wedding anniversary and it was a beautiful full moonlit night which was spoilt by scaffolding.

Couple's very relaxing weekendOverall we had a lovely stay at the hotel. The spa and pool facilities really made our weekend and the standards were very high. Definitely more suited for a couple wanting a relaxing treat and not on too much of a budget though. We would stay there again, the staff were very friendly and the spa treatments i would definitely recommend! Do treat yourself to a lovely meal at the Taste restaurant, not cheap but very very nice indeed!

Overall a very good impression. The room was neat and pleasantly appointed. Didn't try the restaurant, but the customer service was excellent - friendly and helpful without being over-formal. Would recommend to others on the basis of our experience.

The restuarant was fine, except that personally I prefer the traditional restuarant with white table cloths. This was more of a bistro style restaurant, divided into small rooms, so that there was not much of an atmosphere. It was difficult to get a table booked when we arrived because there was a big conference going on.Staff were very friendly though and lounges and bar were nice.Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast room was quite small so when everyone rushed down to breakfast at 8.30am we had to wait for a table.Good gym and pool. Nice location on top of the cliff.

We were given room 154 for the first night. BE WARNED!! the floor in this room slopes and it was like trying to sleep on a hillside! We changed rooms. Shower in next room was cold but they did fix it. If you have dairy alleries contact hotel before you go- only butter is available at breakfast, but they did send out for margarine for us. Pool and spa are great.

Our room had been refurbished nicely enough, but the bathroom was absolutely lovely, much nicer than your average hotel bathroom. Breakfast was excellent the first day and disappointing the second. The staff were faultless and the mud treatments in the Spa were fab. The teddy bear thing was plain daft - ours was stolen the first night which was a bit awkward. Expensive but worth it - overall, we had a really top time here.

We found the food and service very could. We also left behind a small article in our room and after a telephone call it was posted to us the same day and we received it the following morning, albeit there was a small charge.

Great location, excellent sea facing room, would stay again. Car parking no problem.
