Checked in at 9:00 PM after a long 600 mile drive. Heater was turned off and room temperature hovrered around 40 degrees. Ran the Heater (and I use this term lightly) and the room might have gone up to 50 degrees. No Hot water - hence no shower. No wireless internet as promoted. One blanket on the bed hardly kept me warm enough to sleep. Overall the worst night in a Hotel bar none.

I don't have to stay there again. It was dirty outside and inside. The ceiling was falling down in our room & breakfast room The pool was empty. blanket holey This hotel was in the worst condition I have ever stayed in. The shower had more water out of the tap then than the shower head. The spread was dirty and the box spring was dirty. The TV and dish had no remote. The rug was dusty all around the walls. The sink was cracked. The breakfast was advertised as deluxe but was not even average. The man at the desk disappear after we checked in and no one was around in the morning.

the room was nice and price was in our budget. The only thing that I really hated was we could never get anyone at the front desk by calling and the bathroom light stayed on all the time. Also, the town was my hometown so when friends came to visit at the hotel we were being watched as if the friends were staying with us, I didn't like this and I thought it to be disrespectful and felt as if they didn't trust us. I probably won't stay there again.

Came for a business seminar that was being held at this motel. During one of the breaks, I asked to see one of their room, even though I had a room elsewhere, no harm in looking right? The room was clean and crisp looking, great A/C, great bed (no hint of a sag). The place needs more curb appeal, and there are superficial junk that needs work, I dont care about any of that. My room and stay was comfortable and pleasant, and I will stay again when passing through.

My husband and I went and bought 2 blankets to sleep under. We didn't trust anything in the room to be clean. This hotel needs to be leveled......The clerk at the desk couldn't code a key for our room. It took several minutes of back and forth to our room. When he finally opened the room, he left it open while we were still in the lobby. There were bugs in the bathroom. And as far as amenities???? There were none! We couldn't wait to leave in the morning, never to return.

Nothing. Everything. This hotel had weeds 2 feet tall growing in front of the room. This hotel had only 3 amenities. A phone in the room, TV, and continental breakfast. The TV did not work. I didn't attempt to eat the breakfast due to the lobby area being dingy and unkept. I was so afraid of what the food area might look like, I didn't even go in there. Would not stay there again or recommend.

My wife and I stay in this town every year for my trip back north again. This motel is better than it was last year, but I was surprised that the towns people are so against the new owners of this motel. When I was eating at a local restaurant nearby, just chatting and such with the waitress. She tried to convince me that i was staying at a bad motel. When it was very nice with staff that went out of their way to be helpful and make sure we were satisfied and comfortable. Everything in our room and the lobby was nice bright and clean. The breakfast was good. My wife especially liked the made-from-scratch fresh-for-you belgian waffles that the morning staff made just for her. Outside the grass was green and weed free, unlike the 2 more expensive motels further in town, which the waitress recommended that i stay at. She mentioned that the townspeople try to "enlighten" people about staying here. I think that is where the bad rap for this place comes from. Good staff, good place, bad neighbors.

I was traveling from Columbus, OH to Effingham, IL to meet an old friend of ours. When we arrived at Effingham, IL in the late evening. Room turned out really good. The surrounding area was clean and well lit, my wife and I definately felt safe here. I'm very please with our stay. I definately recommend them to all our fellow senior friends.

Clerk was friendly. Almost everything. The ceiling was falling down, the lobby floor was filthy and reeked like an old nursing home. We didn't even stay there, though we had paid.

I saw the previous 2 reviews and all the other reviews also. I couldn't believe that the most recent ones were even true. When I stayed at this motel, sure the outside wasn't that great but the inside was much better. My room was clean, comfortable, everything worked, and the towels were white. I did look at the room before I stayed here. I've had bad experiences at other Name Brand motels in the area. So yes I will stay here again rather than anywhere else around here. The breakfast was more than a continental and had a fresh waffle maker. My wife and I agree that this is more just a regular continental breakfast, and the great Motel 6's do not even GIVE a breakfast. This is a good motel, I stayed here and will recommend it to all my fellow seniors that travel from north to south and back again every 6 months. It IS a good stop over point and it's inexpensive.

Location. It should be condemned - ceiling falling down - no TV - filthy dirty. I did complain and hopefully someone will check it out. No one should have to stay in a place that bad.

This motel is the cheapest around for a reason. Ceilings are falling from water damage. The whole place has been let go for about 20 years. Towels are dingy. I had allergy problems there. The beds are comfortable and the breakfast of cereal and warmed up waffles or pancakes was pretty good. We had to prepay to get the lowest rate, or we would have chosen a different hotel for the second night's stay. They charged 10 additional for our 2 teenage kids.

Bed was comfortable. Cold, poor heat, peeling ceiling, little TV, rusty water came out of shower at first. Staff was ok, but think long and hard if you want to stay in a hotel that is not maintained, poor heat, not attractive, long over due for a make over, if you can stay elsewhere do so. I shall not return.

One of the rooms didn't have an elbow under the sink, so the water ran right out. Another rooms door was covered in bird crap. The pool was not even open, there were weeds growing inside the pool. When you needed towels you had to take the dirty ones up front and they would only give two more. Toilet paper was hard to come by also. You recieved one roll and it wasn't even a whole roll. The dining area had a lot of dust in it and there wasn't the ""deluxe"" breakfast as promised. The game area had parts of the ceiling that was coming down.

Nothing. Office, rooms, walkways, pool, grounds, yard area all need repair and cleaning. I really don't know how this motel got their license to operate!

Hot water in bathroom. Clean sheets on bed. Dirty breakfast area. Checked into room, Ceiling leaking water into bathtub. Changed rooms. Dirty walls, carpet. Pool area closed, piled with lawn furniture, and weeds around pool. Dead plants still in containers outside. Garbage all over, ice machine and pop machine not working. Restaurant ceiling falling in, dead plants lining walls. Garbage all over. Dirty and garbage behind where breakfast was served. Refrigerator with milk and OJ not cleaned in weeks. Dirty plastic covering buffet area. Mens bathroom not in service.

I just want people out there to know.. you don't have to take a room! tell them you must look at the room first. Check the beds and check how clean it is before you check in. This type of privately owned motels often will not care if you are happy or not and WILL NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY LIKE THIS ONE. I didn't stay here because it was not to my standards and I looked at it first. I read the comments in this section about someone claiming that this is a very nice, clean hotel.. this is interesting since even the owners can write there own review on this site... Good Luck!

Clean, quiet, comfortable bed, helpful and courteous staff. It's getting "elegantly shabby" and not much on looks. For a clean quiet place to sleep, this suited me just fine. It is of 1960 era, but the staff was helpful. I'd stay there again tonight.

Our company has a list of previously stayed places and how they rate. This motel was one near the top for the area. The price was spot on for the room quality and comfort. Being as cheap as it was. I was impressed by the efficiency and level of friendliness of the staff. Checkin was fast but not rushed; bed was good and firm, but not hard; everything was clean. It looks older from the outside, and i would have skipped if it wasn't rate by my company. My wife and I will definately rate this motel great with out company. Oh and breakfast is more than just a continental one, good surprise!

Nothing! Even for the price, the bathroom was not clean and the overall comfort of the room was atrocious. It was the worst night sleep I ever had. I think the last time this hotel was cleaned was when it was built!
