Criterion Hotel Perth

560 Hay Street
Perth, Australia

Overview:
The Criterion Hotel Perth can be found in the heart of the vibrant Perth City in Australia. It may also be referred to as the Regatta hotel. It is the oldest hotel in Perth, originally dating back to 1840. However, it just underwent significant remodeling and renovations.
The Criterion Hotel Perth is still located at 560 Hay Street, well over 100 years after its first licensing. Guests have access to a free CBD bus, though they are only a short walk away to major shopping locations in the area.
Rooms still boast a distinctive “Heritage” style. Some are medium sized while others are very spacious with high ceilings. Rooms include a large screen TV, a personal safe, air conditioning and a refrigerator.
The Criterion Hotel Perth held onto to much of its century old art decoration, including some exterior and interior work. This was done to ensure the hotel would fit in with the rest of the century-old atmosphere that makes Hay Street so memorable. Even the lobby and onsite restaurants owe much of their décor to old style architecture.

Average hotel with good price. However it has been one of the worst service I've ever come across. Especially the plump asian lady at front desk, extremely rude. Highly suggest that she should go for training for her manners. Overall the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful.

Don't expect 5 stars treatment for the price you pay. Excellent location, near street mall yet set in a quiet spot. For a quick bite before 11pm when every other shops closed at 6pm, Mac Donald, Central Pizza and Kebab shops are just 5 minutes away. Can't go wrong.

One block off of downtown Perth. Convient to shopping, dinning and everything Perth has to offer. Room was clean, and had everthing you need. The Criterion may not have everything a large chain hotel has but it is a good deal for the price.

The hotel is under-going some (quiet) renovations to make it even better. Certainly there were small signs of age in my room which I trust will be done over. However the place was very pleasant, comfortable and the staff were amazing. The complimentary wine and fruit (for a lengthy stay) certainly helped make the week a better one! I will very happily stay here again and recommend it to my friends.

I stayed in The Criterion Hotel for five days. The room was clean and comfortable although poorly lit as the windows faced a wall. The twin room was a very good size and had a welcome fruit basket and complimentry wine and free wireless access 24 hr a day. The location is excellent very central and close to the free bus route. The only real complaint was the breakfast and the staff attending it. Breakfast was included in the price but would not recommend paying it. We were charged an $2 for bacon on a breakfast buffet and the food was constantly running out and the staff whose english was very bad were less then slow to replenish it. Dont bother with the breakfast. I would definately stay again but avoid the breakfast like the plague.

While well located only 200m from the main shopping precinct and priced for the budget conscious this hotel is old and looks it. The rooms are poor, windows do not open, the floor uneven, bathroom very average and the toilet sytem was very difficult to flush. Other facilities such as the TV were old and needed replacing (not all channels could be accessed) while the fridge had seen better days. Current owners are making some attempt to upgrade rooms but this appears to be done on the cheap. Bonus is free 30min internet usage in lobby. Not a family hotel but ok for singles and footy trip accommodation for a "boys" weekend. I would rate this hotel at best as 1 and a half stars.

Nice central city location, located less than a block from the Hay Street Mall, and is on the Red CAT bus route. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly.

A good 3 star hotel. Hotel just underwent refurbishment, so fairly new. 5 minute walk to the Malls. Extremely good value for money.

OK for a city hotel, however in need of updating, but staff very pleasant.

Average accomodation in a strategic location for an affordable price. Perfect for short staying visitors which doesn't require hotel facilities.

only problem was no car park. had to park in city car park very expensive

Great value for money. Location was perfect for the city. Will definitely stay again!

there is no parking, so if you rent a car you will have to leave the car in a paid parking spot. The price increases by a lot when you take this into account. Internet is free, which is good! The location is also really good.
