Description:
William the Conqueror gave the Crabwall Manor estate to his nephew in 1077. In 1600 it got its fine red brick frontage, but, like all ancient buildings it's been modernised. Wallow in the wonderful new swimming pool and tuck in to great food in the Conservatory Restaurant, winner of many awards over the years. You may not have a lawn like Crabwall's but then you probably haven't been cutting it for 400 years! Only age brings genuine maturity and you can feel the tranquillity, as if it were wafting through the ancient walls. This is a really lovely setting for important conferences and meetings and if you can spare a couple of days, it's a great setting for exploring the wonders of Chester and its countryside.

Good value using lateoomsFirst I must start with the excellent service I received from Late rooms after I booked the number of people incorrectly, upon receiving my conformation I rang Late rooms who changed it without any hassle or cost. The hotel Staff where accommodating and helpful especially in the heath club and spar, children are also able to use the pool at certain times. We had our 3 year old so would have been nice to get some of the sky channels as the information booklet stated (just to keep him quiet) but TV reception was not good. Ample parking and a good location for Chester and Cheshire Oaks both within 10mins drive. I was a little disappointed with no view (advertised as view of the grounds but we got the car park I suppose it is part of the grounds!) we did not spend much time in our room so it did not affect our stay. Overall a nice hotel good value for money using Late room.

A wondeful hotel in fantastic surroundings, on approaching you glimpse a vison of a small small castle. On entering the hotel there was nobody to greet us, after a condiderable wait a recptionist arrived and booked us in without a smile or welcome. Staff were very thin on the ground, people wandered raound aimlessly looking for someone to serve them, particularly at the bar. Staff were having to work in the restaurant and the bar, which was ude to staff illness, or so we were told. The hotel had some wonderful fire places and was decked with Christmas trees and wreaths etc. The food served in the restaurant at night was very good and the room was comfortable. The bathroom was huge, however, the radiator and heated towel rail did not work during our stay which meant that the room was very cold. Having stated the above, I did love the character of the hotel and in all fairness it has just been taken over. The place has great potential and I would stay there again.

one evening in Chesterlovely large room, large bed, large bathroom and shower. Good evening meal, a fantastic good bargain at the late rooms discount price, but I may have been a touch disapointed if I had paid full wack.

The only issue with this beautiful hotel is the standard of the breakfast. The morning we stayed they ran out of milk for the cerial and we were amoung the first in the dinning room. The catering lets this hotel down but everything else is perfect, the facilities, the setting and the rooms. The staff are also wonderful. The management needs to address this as a priority and stop trying to cater on a shoestring. This is a 4 star hotel afterall.

A bargainI stay in approx 50 hotels a year and wanted somewhere for a two day business appointment near Chester. A short journey by car from Chester. Booked a single room at a bargain rate. Got a large double (courtyard room), with ensuite and a large bath (not the footspas you get in the bargain chains). Swimming pool down the corridor. Large grounds, very quiet. If I was paying proper prices, I would say the bathroom was beginning to look slightly tired, but everything was clean and neat. Wireless internet worked (a nice change), but was £10 for 24 hours. About half of the TV channels didn't work (Freeview), but who needs tv when you can sit in the grounds with a G&T. Breakfast was good and civilised. Would stay again. Service was fine

Crabby cat got turfed outStayed for one night only, requested non feather pillows (as have asthma) and although the frosty, officious, receptionist double checked for me she overlooked one of them which I took to reception asking for a replacement. I was not sent a replacement and got back late to only one pillow. The ground floor room was lovely and big with a huge bathroom. On the whole it was very clean but the brochures were stuck to the table in something sticky which spoilt the over all effect. The heating was on all night (June and humid) and although we turned off the thermostat when we got back, the bathroom towel rail was still kicking out quite a bit of heat. This made for a very restless and uncomfortably hot night. We opened the windows only to receive an unwanted feline visitor, which in the daytime would have been amusing but at two in the morning not so much! When we mentioned this to the (different) receptionist in the morning and said we had had very little sleep she seemed baffled about the heating and puzzled about the cat and not very apologetic. It's a beautiful venue and on the whole very good, we had a great breakfast served by a very friendly and helpful waiter, the night porter was also very good, such a shame the receptionists lacked in people skills and seemed unconcerned for the comfort of the guests.

Bar was unstaffed when I tried to order a drink and it was supposed to be open. Otherwise, amazing hotel, very very good price and the rooms are the best I've ever see in a hotel, exceptionally large and spacious.

Beautiful setting but service could be improvedThe hotel is a beautiful building in lovely surroundings. The room was satisfactory and quite large.Service seemed to struggle on occasion. There was no information in the room on services available. The spa was lovely but again no information in the room or reception.Could be wonderful if just a little more thought given

Not recommended for families - Not as luxurious as you might expect. The facade of Crabwall Manor is imposing and lovely. Once the surface is scratched, however, the details are a little disappointing. The customer service at the front desk was inconsistent. One shift was friendly and accommodating and the other was unapproachable and a little gloomy. No porter service or room service. The restaurant was nice but the menu was not extensive. The spa is lovely and obviously where a lot of the upkeep is carried out. Our suite, while spacious, was in need of some maintenance. The shower door came apart upon first use, the toilet flush was very weak, the general decor was nice but tired. When I tried to flush the toilet near the restaurant, the top of the cistern came off in my hands. The overall design and history of the building are top notch, but some maintenance needs to be carried out to make the interior match the exterior.

Very relaxing break in beautiful surroundingsMy husband and I spent a very relaxing weekend break at Crabwall Manor and would definitely recommend it to friends. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was spacious with a large bathroom and very clean. The hotel is a beautiful building full of character set in beautiful, peaceful gardens where we were able to relax and eat lunch on the lawn. The gym is adequately equipped. The dining room had an all round view of the gardens and our evening meal was very nice but a little overpriced. We were most appreciative that we were welcome to stay and enjoy the facilities and relax in the gardens even after checking out. We would definitely stay again at Crabwall Manor.

may 09 family staythe foldup beds were of poor standard with very poor matress's which spoilt an otherwise very good room. very large bathroom, sep shower, 2 sinks spotlessly clean bathroom which is always nice to find. The room itself was large enough for the 4 of us, several seats, desk, storage was ample but decour a little worn although still nice, not 4* quality now but when new this would have been superb. Room was ready 1 hour before the normal checkin time which is also very good. i wouldnt have like to pay £200 per night but at £79 was much better value than a premier inn. never used the spa, pool etc but they looked very nice

poor accomodationWe stayed here after looking at the photos on the internet . We paid 142-00 to stay here for 1 night but it was dbb package . The room we stayed in was huge but the decor was outdated and would have been appropriate for a bb hotel only , not for a supposedly 4 star manor house . The wallpaper was old/ peeling in parts and had tea stains on it , the carpet looked old and dirty as well as . The main hotel was clean etc , and the gym , spa , swimming pool were the newest /cleanest we had ever visited . As we stay in hotel every month -i must say we were dissapointed . Check in /out was brief -conveying no information as to when breakfast was etc , about leisure facilities etc .

Relaxing placeWe were given a lovely large room overlooking the front of the hotel. It was quiet and peaceful. There is no lift to the first foor and no offer was made to carry our bags, my husband is elderly and some help would have been appreciated, perhaps as we were only staying one night they thought we had light luggage which was not the case. The swimming pool was clean and there is a sauna and jacuzi. The dining room is very pleasant overlooking the garden, white line tablecloths and napkins, very attentive staff and lovely food. Breakfast was also very good. I would certainly stay here again, it is convenient just a short run into the city centre of Chester.
