While this hotel is lined by highways on 3 sides (you can't walk from the hotel to anywhere, have to drive), it has one side that faces a marina, so you are on the water, and can sneak out to the large terrace/pool area for sunsets. We ended up driving out to attractions anyway, so it didn't really bother us. It's a clean place, can't beat the central location, and you can walk out on that "private pier" if you don't have wild kids in tow to watch the sunset. They have a little "market" with wine, desserts, beverages, a nice bar & bar area, an outside terrace (use some OFF! before sitting out there), and a breakfast buffet for $10 each day. No dinner at the hotel, but Hominy Grill is really close (and has a parking lot). Negatives: they play music poolside at night, which you hear from you room, but it's so hot in Charleston you have to keep your terrace doors closed anyway, so the music isn't too obnoxious. It ends around 10:30.

Location was near several expressways, overpasses and was cut off from downtown. Rooms were very small with poor views. Staff impressions varied from one employee to the next however my overall impression was not very good. Definitely not a three star hotel.

parking mainly under hotel, elevator didn't work, no security that i could see, room was nice, and bed was great. got charged more than i was quoted, mgm wouldn't back down the measly $2.00, hallways were ice cold, not heated in the winter. main staff was always talking to the girl at the desk. the room with a view of the harbour, well maybe if i stood out on the small balcony and stood on a chair, i might could see something. i was on the first floor. walls paper thin.

Extremely dissapointing for a Marriott property. Wallpaper peeling, faucets faulty, other hardware in need of maintenance. Staff was rude.

Parking was really convenient; everyone was very nice; good location for getting around town; pool was great. We had one problem that the room we checked into actually smelled like vomit, but the staff kindly switched us without a problem.

The staff was extremely helpful. After a red-eye they let us check-in early. I was part of a wedding party and they were friendly and helpful with everything. The location is great. Easy access to downtown and beautiful spot to be.

just a little mildew on the shower curtain and the drain had to be taken completely out to work...not very sound proof rooms...often heard doors slamming in the night...and the foot steps from above were very noticeable...but overall not big problems

This would have been a stellar review except what happened after I got home from my stay Hotel is awesome. Friendly staff, great location, this would have been a stellar review except for what happened a week later. While checking my credit card statement I discovered a 300.00 charge from the Marriott. Orbitz had already been paid for the room so I was understandably confused. When I called the Marriott they said that a manager would have to call me back. Days later and still waiting. I did call Orbitz who straightened it right out. Apparently the Marriott charged me for room after I paid the Orbitz people. Orbitz gave me a refund but the m Marriott people so far has done nothing.

Court yard and relaxation. Plenty of comfort with outside relaxation. Danger of road location. Pain to get to from across the road. Had to drive a mile then turn around. Wow, it was so helpful being near the hospital and such an understanding staff. Because of my situation. I would recommend it to anyone. After the stress from my visit to the hospital, I was able to wind down on the outside terrace and look at the boats. Great place for stress relief. It was to bad I had to Spend Friday night at the Holiday Inn. That place was nasty.

This hotel had a great view of the river and the marina, the construction is all complete and they did a great job on the renovations and the landscaping. Great poolside and underground parking. Two mintue drive to historical downtown. CONS/Bad stuff - no restaurants or shopping in walking distance. You can hear people walking from the room above at night, thin wooden floors I think. Our sliding glass door was permanently foggy in between glass and was hard to slide and lock.I would definitly return to this hotel.

We were very please with our visit, plenty of parking. we had a light out in our room and missing coffee cups but the staff was there in less than 5 minutes to fix it and bring cups. Maids were great, and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. We would stay there again. we had a great view of the marina, and the hotel was a straight shot directly into the downtown charleston area only 5 minutes away.

The Courtyard Marriott is one of the nicest hotels my husband and I have stayed in. The hotel is only a few years old, so everything is very new and clean. The staff was extremely hospitable, and the location is close to downtown but far enough away that it was not noisy. The pool area and hot tub are very nice, and the hotel overlooks the river.

View of marina was stunning; outdoor areas soaked up that view; appreciated free covered surface parking. Tricky, could be dangerous to loop into parking lot; no fridge/microwave. Attractive, well maintained, fabulous location (although not within easy walking distance of center city). Marina - next door neighbor - has nice restaurant (hotel has real breakfast, but not free.)

Beautiful hotel on the riverfront. Nice rooms. I suggest a room with a view of the water or at least the marsh. The location is a bit tricky to get into and out of. Otherwise great experience.

Very nice hotel, very easy and convenient to get to downtown and plantations. No hot tub with the pool. We were vacationing in Charleston and found this hotel to be a better value than the ones closer to the historic district. It is clean and convenient with a great view of the harbor. The Courtyard beds are always so comfortable they give you a great night's sleep!

It had a great restaurant that was reasonable in price. It was awkward and slightly dangerous getting into the parking lot from the main road. It was great for families with or without children in terms of comfort. The hotel was had limited access on TV but had access to movies. I would recommend a GPS to help with access to the hotel when approaching from the downtown area.
