We were in a 8th floor suite that overlooked the pool and ocean. It's very pretty and priced appropriately. The restaurant is the weakest link in the hotel's offering. The pool is nice and they play a mix of Spanish music which seems to be acceptable to all age ranges. The hotel is nicely located such that you have nice beaches in front of you for quite a distance in either direction.

Balcony allowed fresh air, nice pool area, on beach, across from GusGus. This hotel was exactly what I was looking for. The room was comfortable and it was located next to the ocean. The pool area was very nice and although I didn't swim in the pool other people seemed to be enjoying it. I was pleased that the room had a balcony - I like to sit on the balcony and even leave the door open to get fresh air.

The only complaint we have is the beds are very hard and uncomfortable as well as the pillows. Otherwise we loved it.

I went to this hotel for Spring Break during graduate school. I have been on Spring Breaks before and I wasn't looking for a "party hotel" but I wanted something that had a fun spirit and was centrally located around other activities and clubs. This hotel was perfect! The people are so nice and friendly. It is right in the middle of the Zona Dorada and within walking distance of many restaurants and clubs. if you need to go farther (which you likely will because Mazatlan is BIG), the taxis are cheap (around $5 to $8). If you are planning to be at the hotel for a week or more I would suggest paying for the all inclusive stay. I did not do this but my friends did and it paid for itself many times over. Overall, awsome hotel!

Close to everything needed. Great food, pool, bars, shopping, golf course, massages, etc. All within walking distance!

The pool and location to the ocean was nice. Staff was nice. Outdated decor in rooms, floors were dirty, mattress was on a cement slab. Hotel is in a good location with shops and food places close. Outside of hotel was attractive, and pool and ocean view was nice. Rooms still had metal keys, which is unsafe since keys could be copied. Decor of room was outdated, mattresses were on cement, and floors were very dirty.

We stayed at this hotel for 7 nights and 8 days. When we first arrived they gave us a room that had a door that did not lock at all. The patio deck was full of bird droppings. I asked for a different room and got one, we looked at it, everything worked so we took it. That night when we went to bed it was like laying on a cement slab. The matress was about 4 inches thick and it was placed on a concrete slsb. The pillows were not much softer. Every morning when the room was cleaned while we were gone we would get backand have to go searching for a maid and try to get towels, face cloths, face towels, soap and shampoo. the bed was made but the sheets were never cleaned. The best feature of this hotel were the employees that were in the front at the desk.

Costa de Oro is a good choice for the price. The rooms are small and they only offer double beds. The room did not have much to offer. There were two beds, a small tv, a table with two chairs and a bathroom. We were disappointed to find no clock or alarm in the room. We did end up switching rooms due to mold that was in the bathroom. The second room was mold free; however, still no clock. The view from our balcony was great and we could hear the ocean at night which was also a plus. The pool at the hotel was great, however i would only recommend purchasing drinks during happy hour because they are pricey. We only ate at the hotel restaurant once and it was average, nothing special for the price. The location was the best part about the hotel. There are many places to eat, shop, and be entertained within walking distance. Gus Gus across the street offers great prices on drinks and live music every night.

Great pool, great garden area, and a store in the hotel. The beds not good. I felt like I was sleeping on a metal box spring. The pictures of the room for a upgrade were not pictures of the room we got. The hotel was under construction also. Our maid Yolanda was wonderful, Santos at the pool/bar was great. The hotel told this couple that it was okay to have a dog during the day/ but kenneled at night across the street. But during the day they gave her problems about having him etc this is not a pet friendly hotel. They miss led this couple but took there money for a room it was okay then but not later on in the day.

We have been vacationing at CDO every November for 15 years. We call it home away from home. The front desk staff is very friendly & accomodating. We agree that the beds are a little too firm but you can ask for pads for the beds at the front desk and this year they had begun to upgrade the mattresses and we found the new ones to be quite comfortable. The rooms are very clean and the maids are very friendly and we have no complaints about room service. They're very prompt. We recommend the on site dining as well. Food and service are excellent and breakfast is great. We did not haave a good experience at GUS GUS across the street. The drinks are watered down and service was slow. However, the music is usually pretty good. We found a new place to eat a couple of years ago called Los Zarapes. EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!! We agree, this isn't your typical 5-star resort, but the value for the money can't be beat and the atmosphere is unmatchable. It's the best place for catching a glimpse of the "green flash" at sunset.

Room was hot, dirty, and uncomfortable. Room door and windows allowed much outside noise into the room. This was the worst hotel in my Mexico vacation.

Food at CDO is not the best! I would recommend eating at GUS GUS (across the street) and Papagayo"s (next door at the Inn at Mazatlan) both are excellent! Gus Gus has a live band at 8:00 and staff is friendly. I also recommend doing the city tour with Vista Tours, ask for X as the tour guide. The Stone island tour is good, but snorkeling is not the best. Overall it was a good stay at the CDO.

This resort is perfectly placed in the Gold Zone of Mazatlan. All the staff were extremely nice and helpful. The rooms are great! We spent the little extra money for the Ocean view suite and I would recommend this for anyone. The room is amazing with ample space for everything and they catered to my one year old daughter with a in room crib also. GREAT GREAT GREAT resort and room. Spend the extra cash get the suite and enjoy the view!!

Very good service, staff were excellent, pool very nice, excellent location. Only one thing, the beds were a little bit hard. But for the price I would stay again.

The Costa De Oro staff were all great. Restaurant food was very good for breakfast. We ate away from the motel for all other meals. Our room was very damp and cold. I wore sweats to bed at nite in order to be comfortable. There was mold growing in the ceiling of our closet and the smell was awful when you first walked in the room. We left our closet doors open all the time, otherwise our clothes would have smelled the same. The beds were very old and worn, hard mattresses. Room was very clean. The location was great-just far enough from the Golden Zone to be a little more quiet, but within walking distance. Time share people nearly drove us crazy everywhere we went. We did attend a time share presentation at the hotel. The supervisor who came after we said no called us strange and was next to rude when we didn't buy in. This was our second time in Mazatlan. Different hotel this visit. It was a bit more rustic and uncomfortable than we are used to.

Have stayed at this hotel several times. While the beds can be rather firm, the rooms are clean and very reasonably priced. You can request a foam pad for the bed from the desk - sometimes it's available. The pool is my favorite part of the hotel - it's quiet - no constant noise from bingo, games, etc. like the other hotel pools. The maids are very pleasant and the pool staff friendly and attentive. Not too crazy about the time share sales people, but they leave you alone if you give them a firm "no thank you" and walk on. Friends have also stayed here with us and thought it was great for the price. Have already booked another stay!

In my opinion, anyone who is not completely pleased with Costa de Oro wnet there looking for something to complain about. We had a fabulous time. The bed weren't real comfortable but who goes to Mexico to sleep anyway.

Our stay at Costa De Oro was probably the most relaxing time we've had. The hotel is located steps from the beach, and the pool is heated and very comfortable. The hotel staff was very helpful and hospitable during our stay.

I would never stay at this hotel again. I booked on line for a non-smoking ocean view. When I arrived, I needed to pay another $25/nite to upgrade from a garden view to an ocean view. I was OK with that. But, my 1st room had meldew ordor, so the next day I moved to another room. It also, had a bad musty ordor, so I moved back to a garden room on the 1st floor. The next day I discovered I had no hot water. When I called, all they said was, something happened and no one on the 1st floor had hot water. They didn't know when it would be fixed, and for the next three days I had no hot water. My stay was hell, and I will sum it up this way, if you have above average standards go to Pueblo Bonito. It will cost a little more, but it is money well spent. The reviews are right, Pueblo Bonito is great place. The help is very professional and they understand the meaning of customer service.
