I wanted to make sure my review title didn't make for a bad impression on this fantastic hotel. I did have to go to a drug store to get toilet paper though, because the supplied type was just not good. Luckily the drug store was right around the corner. The Cosmopolitan is so well located, everything in the city was within a 3 minute walk - if that - to the subway (TTC) station. If you felt so inclined to walk, it was 5 minutes to Queen's street, where the street cars would take you across town (east/west). The staff was respectful. The hotel does only have two elevators, so I spent some time waiting for them. I did book a room with a lake view, and I was a little shocked at how little of the lake I could see. I think that had more to do with expectation than false advertising. The plus side, I think I had the BEST view of the CN Tower Toronto has to offer. It was situated just left of a larger high rise, and it was perfectly framed for my view from my balcony. I would stand there and watch the light show, watch tourists take photos from within CN Tower observation area, and watch is snag a stray cloud from the sky. It was a bit magical. The only reason I would not stay at the Cosmopolitan would be to experience staying in another part of the city, period! It was recommended to me, and I in turn would also recommend it to other travelers.

I requested to change a room, because I coudl not sleep first night. The hotel gave us the same type of room, just higher floor. Useless. I would not stay this hotel if I know noise come to the room directly from the window. It was traffic noise. When I complain about noise next morning, the hotel did not response good way. Therefore, I would not recommend this hotel anyone. It was stressful.I had the same experience in Europe befire. When I asked to cahnge the room that time, the hotel gave me a lager room. It was one of the bestwestern hotel.

The hotel was very modern, very zen as they say. But not comfy, stay friendly. The rooms are extremely small. As I believe they play "room favoritism" because their all not the same. But of course, you will only find out after checking in and inquiring with the housekeepers. Furniture very cute, but not comfortable to lounge on. The best part is the comfortable bed, as I guess they had to give you something for squeezing up in the room to get to it. Nice place, but truly over rated for the prices, when there are bigger, better hotels, same price around the corner.

Very helpful staff. Great location. Nice, important amenities (internet, breakfast) -- thanks very much. The only thing I didn't know was that it was shower only and not bath tub - I am a bath taker... may not be that way in all rooms.

Hotel was convenient to everything. We were visiting family in the area. Staff was friendly, service was superb, atmosphere was very serene. Price was really really reasonable.

The Cosmopolitan can be a little intimidating for someone who's not used to this idea of a "zen retreat" but really it means no bad hotel art and great bedding. It's a healthy walk to Chinatown or Kensington Market, but very close to the St. Lawrence Market and the ferry docks. Park at the public lot at Colburne and Church for much less than at the hotel - just a half a block away and about *CAN for the weekend. Also NB - our room had nearly a full kitchen (everything but an oven and staples like olive oil) so if you like to hit the public market and then prepare your own meal, you'll have the means at the Cosmopolitan. That was a very pleasant surprise.

This hotel is FABULOUS! Everything was great! Spotless rooms, great location, EXCELLENT BEYOND COMPARE front desk staff! Our stay was out of this world and we cannot wait to go back! Loved that fact that the security is tight. You need your room key to get on the elevator. Everything was wonderful!

I loved this hotel !!!It was very clean and very relaxing. When I walked into the room, soothing music was playing and the style/feel of the room was outstanding. The service was great and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast in the morning was nice, but the dining area could have been a little nicer. Breakfast including waffles, bagels, danishes, coffee, juice, cheese, yogurt, cereal, etc. Parking was 29 per day, but you must pay for parking everywhere you stay in Toronto. The best part of my trip was this hotel !! I'd recommend it to everyone, especially those who enjoy a "Zen" atmosphere...

The hotel has a very stylish, minimalist decor with an emphasis on calm. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful for the most part. I had a room at the back that was fine but for an outside fan that I found really disturbing. [...] at the front desk insisted that I move to the other side of the hotel, where this noise was not a problem (there is some noise as it is a half block from Yonge Street). The rooms each have a kitchen with complimentary tea and coffee and small snacks for sale - good to fill gaps between meals. There are lots of really nice touches in keeping with the atmosphere of the hotel. The meditation fountain and the complimentary CD worked together for a little mental rest. Every night I had my bed turned down, and was left a stick of incense and a gem stone with a message about its meaning. I used the message to set the tone of the following day! It worked and it was good fun. The central location, an easy five minute walk to and from Union Station, means you can just walk out and start exploring - and shopping. There are some top restaurants within a three block radius, including Lucien and Jump. The Shizen spa is pretty nice, not quite five star for me. However, it was good that it was small and it was nice to be able to go up in my flip flops. I would have liked to have had lunch in my room afterwards but there was no lunch service. It worked out well, however, when I went for tea at the King Edward, which is right next door. I usually stay in B&B's so this was a nice change. It was nice not to have to talk to people at breakfast! The style and small size of the hotel made it feel really comfortable and personal.

The location is great -- I'd never noticed it before in all my trips to Toronto; right downtown, basically at Yonge and King. Restaurants and shopping nearby, and the edge of the St Lawrence Market District (but across the street from Commerce Court, too). They offer an 8:30 pm meditation/relaxation session which I missed, but they do give you crystals and incense! Room service was friendly and quick. Lots of windows. Bed comfortable, two TVs, towels soft and absorbent but a little frayed. Good continental breakfast. Quiet, relaxing, not a lot of people around. I rated this mostly fours, not fives, which I reserve for the Four Seasons // Ritz Carlton league. Still, a great hotel I'll go back to.

This is the first time I've felt the need to complain on online travel website. The Cosmopolitan Hotel looks peaceful enough w/ its Japanese decor, but be forewarned, my wife and I felt it came up short in many ways (even if the rate was less). Too much facade and not enough substance. Confusion at the desk reigns as it seems only three people work there per shift and seemingly do ALL the tasks. So concierge info was spotty at best, no bellboy service was offered, someone else's luggage was in our room when we arrived. The phones malfunctioned. No baths in the upper floor suites, so we took a lower, smaller room and even then, the water never got hot. The "Executive breakfast" was basic fare that was not replenished when depleted. This included coffee w/ an hour of breakfast remaining. A request for wake call was botched and we nearly missed our bus tour. In all fairness, the employees appear to be doing their best and I suspect the real problem is not enough manpower and no real attention to details. Finally, DO NOT PAY AN UPCHARGE FOR THE "LAKE ONTARIO VIEW"! In theory, perhaps such a thing exists, but I didn't see it. What I did see was a sliver of water behind a littany of dirty lower rooftops (I took photos; too bad I can't post). For this, I paid about * extra per day. Clearly a ripoff. What wasn't clear was how much of a hassle it was going to be to get my money back (we refused the room and settled for the smallest existing suite). Calling the online travel website customer assistance 1-800 # was truly a downer and a HUGE waste of time. I had to google the corporate sales office to get a competent satisfaction.

Stayed at this hotel for a long weekend getaway. It is in a wonderful location, just a block from a subway stop (King) and near the corner of two main roads where you can catch streetcars running in every direction. Very close to major tourist attractions. The hotel itself is on a quieter side street, though, so we didn't hear much of the city noise. The suites are a good size, although storage space is limited -- just a couple of drawers and a small closet in the hallway. We really enjoyed having the kitchen to keep drinks cold, reheat leftovers, etc. Had we stayed longer, we'd definitely have taken advantage of the stove and done some cooking. The washer/dryer was also nice. The bathroom has a door with a frosted glass window, which you can see vague shapes through (for example, if someone is sitting or standing at the toilet). This definitely might make some couples or families uncomfortable. The "zen" theme of the hotel was evident, although for people not particularly interested in that aspect, it wasn't overwhelming. The incense was a nice touch, as was the small fountain in the living room (which could be turned on or off) and the CDs with quiet music. The continental breakfast was not included in the price of the hotel, which was fine since there are coffee shops and fast food restaurants nearby. Parking was also significantly more expensive than nearby garages, and if you don't plan on using your car to drive around the city there is no need to have in/out privileges anyway. We parked in a garage two blocks away for about half the hotel's cost. Overall, we had a very good experience, and I'd definitely stay here again for a short trip. For a longer trip, I'd choose a more conventional hotel with more storage space.

This hotel is very luxurious and the suites are really comfortable and with an Asian modern style. The location is perfect; in between shopping area, harbor, entertainment area and dining area. All in a distance of 5 minutes walking. Try also the spa in the hotel, you get a great discount when you are staying in the hotel.

Very unique, stylish, convenient, friendy, comfortable place. Certainly exceeded our expectations and made the whole Toronto experience far more enjoyable. Attention to detail is what i would refer the stay to with the background music, the incense, the rocks. If you look for a relaxing experience or just something different, this is the place. Hope they had a pool. Location was unbeatable in a quiet street in the heart of downtown.

We had a wonderful time at the hotel which is right in the middle of the city and close to shopping, theaters, subway and great dining. The hotel does not look like much from the outside(Note to owners-clean the street in front) but was a treasure for us. Rooms large and quiet and had a attitude to them that was very relaxing.

"This hotel was so unique. very enjoyable and like nothing I have ever experienced. very nice bed, linens were exceptional. the hardwood floors, the kitchen and bar just made it. I loved the location just walk to everything. I was attending a conference at the Convention Center and was an easy walk."

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Cosmopolitan over the Thanksgiving weekend and had a wonderful stay. The location cannot be beat, we were close to the Air Canada Centre where we saw the Leafs Season Opener, plenty of great restaurants within walking distance including the St Lawrence Market (a must visit, but closed on Sundays), and the Hockey Hall of Fame (it was a bit of a hockey weekend because she's an avid fan {though not of the Leafs}). Check-in was smooth, but took a little longer than expected especially because it was so late at night and there were two staff to expedite the process. The wine bar is nice, though they do not stock all selections on their wine list. Otherwise we were very pleased.

"The main complaint is that the room is tiny, barely larger than a bed with a desk too narrow to do any work; many items missing at breakfast; staff vary from friendly to cold; I would not stay here over other hotels in similar price range and style; I did not find the tiny room felt very zen."
