Good room, but weird, unfriendly vibe in the pub downstairsIt's hard to fault this place, I guess: the room, while small, was clean, and the people who work there are friendly. The food was decent and cheap. The Corner House is definitely better than sleeping on the street or in the train station. Unfortunately, the bar downstairs has a really weird, even hostile, vibe. It's the sort of place that is "owned" by a neighborhood group that doesn't like outsiders much, so you can expect to be stared at a lot if you stay here.

BrilliantAs a business traveller i could not fault this hotel. it is in a great location and only 5 mins by car to the town centre and there is also buses every 5 mins from outside of the hotel either going to town or to the coast. the bar downstairs is lively with a great atmosphere and although it was busy you cant hear any of the noise from the rooms. the restaurant menu is of great value and tasted great, i could get a main meal and a pint for less than £5. i found the staff very welcoming and friendly and cant wait till my next trip to Newcastle!

Weekend break with comedy venueFriendly clean, good sized room with nice 4 poster bed at a low rate. didn't have breakfast as we had a late night out!, £5 to the local Mr Lynchs pub/club in Jesmond for late night drinks and music which we both really enjoyed. Room was hot though there was a fan provided. We also had a fun night at the monthly comedy club in the pub function room tickets £9 ea on-line which was good value although the headline act cancelled but was replaced ; very casual and friendly with lots of good NE humour. Didn't get asked if we wanted breakfast but there was an info card saying you need to book it before 10PM.

dissapointedThe room was so small we had to move the chair at the table to behind the door just to be able to walk around the bed, chalet service was very poor, towels just dumped on floor outside of room and had to go and get a re-stock of tea and coffee on the second day myself, brochure said it had had a recent upgrade, i couldnt see it!!!!!!!!over all a poor showing, ok if you are staying for a night out as you wont see it much

Don't botherWe stayed here for one night only, room was ok but bathroom was quite dirty, a horrible smell kept wafting every now and again, smelt like sulphur/sewage. The tiles in the shower and bathroom were really unclean with orange soap scum on all the grouting. The food in the bar was awful, the potato wedges with bacon & cheese sounded nice but in real;ity it was terrible, the wedges were dry, the cheese was hardly there and the bacon was all fat. I wouldn't stay there again. However, we told the manager and he refunded us half the money so did his best to compensate for the lack of service/hygiene.

corner house experienceEarliest breakfast was 08:00 hrs. This is no good if you are working. The room was small, no room to move about.

Typical PubReasonable pub accommodation for the overnighter or a couple of nights. Staff were friendly enough but left the impression that it was just business as usual. Maybe the fact that it was a busy night with the Champions Cup final drawing the football fans in for the odd pint or two may have contributed to the impression.

Great friendly place to stayI arrived @10pm on a Friday night due to delayed flight. Very good professional check in & taken to my room (No 4) which was spacious, clean & well kitted out. Comfy bed and great shower/toilet room. Room overlooks main road but double glazing meant no noise. Food finishes at 9.30pm so minor disappointment to me as good local reputation. I had 6.30am meeting & was shown how to get out early. I recommend the Corner House.

good value for moneyWe booked two rooms for a group of friends wanting to go to Digital in Newcastle city centre.Rooms were very good value for money, could have been a bit cleaner but on a whole i would recommend mainly to groups of friends wanting to go to clubs/bars in the city centre.Costs about 8/9 pounds by taxi into the centre. I would stay here again in the future.Breakfast also available at an extra cost.

Theatre tripGood value, clean and comfortable and so quiet considering its location close to a major artery to the city.

Staff very helpful but room dreadful. Probably the dirtiest hotel room I've ever stayed in especially the bathroom. Also shower fitting broken and loo didn't flush - free wifi was good though.

I don't normally travel alone so was a bit wary of staying in a hotel/ pub but I needn't have worried. It was very quiet and very comfortable. The room was a bit small (double)but then I was only sleeping in it so it didn't really bother me that much. For some reason I thought I would need to pay for parking but I didn't . Will use the Corner House Hotel again.

Corner House - great valueA great value package. The room was excellent and had free wireless broadband. The pub food was excellent value and there were three different sports TV channels all on silent. I would definitely go back.
