I wasn't looking for 5 stars, but this place had just what I needed without having to "slum". A good price, a nice clean pool with well maintained grounds, covered parking even. It had a kitchenette and a balcony, was next to an oceanside running trail, and had access to a fitness center also. There is a shopping center with some restaurants in it across the street, too. It was an enjoyable stay!

The location was close to where I was working and close to restaurants and shopping. The rooms were quiet and private. The bed was hard and the maid service did not make my bed in the morning. The room was quiet and the hotel was close to shopping. The full kitchen in my room would have been great if there were pots and pans, and utensils with. I had plenty of room to move around as the room was like a small 1 bedroom apartment. Great TV selections.

Do I really need to say more??? The staff was very nice and the shopping center across the street is convenient but I can't imagine staying here again. The rooms look clean on the surface but this place is not sanitary. I've been in healthclub locker rooms that were cleaner...

Yes, I am serious. Amongst other things, the apparatus I found in the kitchen was enough to close the deal. The stench of the room should have been a dead giveaway upon walking in the door. Or perhaps the shopping cart we found outside the back door, or the broken pullout couch, or the closet doors falling off the hinges would have been some indication that the staff, and cleaning crews were not doing their jobs. Aside from that, the room was disgustingly filthy. My friend who is a police officer said it looked to him like a prostitute had lived there, or had set up shop there in the room. We also had friends in four other rooms who had many complaints as well. None as severe as mine, but enough to say that the pictures on this website are not at all accurate. You can read their reviews of this hotel on orbitz.com, and AAA's website. I will say that after reporting all of the problems to the office, the manager did arrange to have a new room cleaned and prepared for us. However, after waiting six hours for the cleaning staff, I called the nice people at Travelocity, who booked us a new room at a different hotel, and promised me a full refund. This was after they made 7 attempts to contact the hotel only to be hung up on every time.

Great location next to the bus lines, BART, Sushi, and shoppping. The beach is across the street. Went to Alameda to go kiteboarding, good spot, decent wind. The hotel is definitely older but fine. Nothing fancy but the rooms have a kitchen, bring your own pots and pans or buy some cheap ones at TJ Maxx across the street. Trader Joes and Safeway are there too as well as a bunch of other shops. It was quiet there, the beds were comfortable, we brought our own pillows. Overall not bad if you are looking for something affordable and nothing fancy. You can get into SF in about a 1/2 hour on bus and BART.

Love that it is a small apartment. No dishes or utensils in kitchen. This is a great place to stay, with suites that are really small, one bedroom apartments. Excellent location. A quarter block walk to the bay. Shopping center right across the street. It is the place we like to stay in when traveling to the East Bay.

This facility smelled, was dirty, let alone did not give a single female any secure features. I would not stay there again. It is for the traveling construction worker.

Convenient to where we were going daily. The key to the door never worked.

For the money this is a great hotel. I stayed in the smaller of the rooms. My room had very good heating and cooling with the provided unit. It also had a kitchenet with stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. It does not however come with pots and pans or anything else really but does have a table with 2 chairs. The room was pretty clean as was the bathroom. It is very close to the beach (can walk there). 2 grocery stores and a Walgreen's is just a 2 minutes walk away which helps keep from spending money of always eating out since the room has a kitchen. There is a number of resturants also in walking distance including a Apple bees and Sushi House as well as others. My wireless card could not pick up there signal very good however the room had a ethernet (cat5e) to plug laptop into the wall which worked very good. Just across road is a bus stop for jumping on the bus. Hotel grounds have plenty of parking. This room also had lots of light and a ceiling fan. Tv worked very good with all the typical cable channels. Since I was staying for more than a week this proved to be a very good choice especially for the price and the included kitchen.

We finally realized that we didn't have to eat donuts every morning just because they were there. We like the Coral Reef Inn. We have stayed there once before and we plan to go back there again. Sometimes the towels or the pillow cases were a little slow in arriving, but they did show up sooner than later.

Friendly staff, continental breakfast. Two-pronged electric outlets only. Close to the Fruit valeBart station. Easy to find. The staff were very friendly.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The location is terrific; very close to the shoreline and also to the city of Alameda. The room was larger than expected, and even had a kitchenette. The only negative was the bed--harder than is comfortable for me. All in all, it is a great value in an expensive area.

Decent accomadations close to Oakland airport and SF. Adequate but large room but poor breakfast buffet.

Great location to where I needed to be. SPACIOUS rooms! I really liked this hotel since it was right across the street from where I needed to be. The fact that it had a small kitchen area was great since I was traveling with my kids and didn't have to dine out for every meal was awesome. Staff was great friendly and even took time to point out Alameda attractions.

The hotel was okay and close to where I needed to be but a little overpriced. Newer fixtures would be a great improvement. If I had an event near here I would stay again.

This is my third stay at Coral Reef, which was probably built in the 1940's and is not a modern hotel with all the amenities, but a comfortable, well-priced, friendly place to stay. I always take a suite on the lagoon and watch the water fowl from the large porch. There is a full kitchen, but you have to supply your own cooking and eating equipment. The kitchen/living room area is enormous, bedroom separate. Wireless internet on premises; the guest computer is perennially out of order. Big Plus: Staff very friendly and accommodating. Extended continental breakfast served daily. Coffeemaker in all rooms. There is a very nice, although small, pool. Very quiet. 1/2 block from walkway along the bay. 10 minutes from airport. The only problem -- this visit only -- was that housekeeping was inadequate, even strange, in that housekeepers entered unit 2-3 times daily, instead of doing all tasks at once! I was there 5 days, and the unit was not vacuumed. There were no "Do Not Disturb" signs. I intend to stay at Coral Reef whenever I am in Alameda.

Located withing easy walking distance of downtown Alameda and lots of very good local restaurants. The Coral Reef itself is nothing special, but its location and price more than makes up for any shortcomings. Located within a few blocks of downtown Alameda, it's within easy walking distance of local restaurants and shops. There's a retail development right across the street that includes a Safeway and Trader Joe's, so travelers wanting to economize meals can easily utilize the Reef's kitchenette. Plus, the room we stayed in was very spacious, making travel with kids just a little easier.

staff was nice. not very modern & cleanliness was just ok, not great. If you want a place to sleep for the night & not much else it's a good choice, just don't expect fancy-but it wasn't horrible either!

Great location. Lobby was not very clean. The location is fantastic and safe, close to the beach and shops. Very basic but OK.
