Our Special PlaceThis is the first hotel my husband and I stayed in together just after we met 3 years ago.Since then it has changed names and had a refurbishment so is now looking even better. The staff are very professional, efficient and friendly and provide excellent services. The hotel is in a beautiful location and it is great to wake up in the morning to a view of the lake. The breakfast was excellent, the choice was amazing and the setting was a lovely backdrop in the Lakeside Restaurant- the ideal way to start your day!!We had a weekend deal so it made it very good value, my criticism would be that we weren't able to use the voucher for our champagne cocktail(which I was really looking forward to) as we were at a wedding for the weekend ( the reason we were in Reading). It would have been better if it could have been redeemed when it was convenient to us - maybe even having it in our room! My only other critism is that we couldn't play tennis on the courts as it was set up for something else yet it's advertised in their facilities list.

the hotel is situated on a lake with natural wild life-swans.ducks and wading birds.the view is great.the bar is well stocked, and the restuarant provided good food and breakfast.

idealVery peaceful setting. Very nice, clean and comfortable rooms. Balcony was a nice touch. Excellent breakfast. Shame we were only stopping one night as we were visiting a local festival. Perfect choice :)

The setting was beautiful and the room itself was comfortable. The bar area was very tired and the open patio, overlooking the water, was furnished with basic, ugly furniture that seemed to cater only for smokers (as a non smoker, there was no attraction to sit on the patio even though the weather was hot and there was no aircon). The prices in the bar and restaurant were very expensive, £9 to £10 for a panini!! Overall, would not revisit.

Plastic Hotels in ReadingThis hotel is as you expect. Large room, clean etc. Very pleasant location, and the room had great view over a lake. - however, as I am not really a great fan of these plastic standard hotels, I am not sure I will stay again. Food was good, but very expensive. I did not bother with the breakfast as I could not face paying £11.50. - Why is it that cheap hotels always include a good breakfast, these more expensive hotels, charge you extra? - Leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Copthorne Hotel : ReadingA well maintained, quiet hotel with pleasant surroundings. Definitely value for money if you can get rooms when they are on offer. The only downside was the 2x £15 taxi fare into Reading centre and back, which isn't too expensive if there's a group of you, but for a couple is quite pricey. Overall though, a very enjoyable stay.

MY EXPERIENCE AT THE COPTHORNE READINGThe only negative points was the cost of alcohol as a party of 4 my round came to £16.50. I was also disappointed with the review which stated we wer only 2.7 miles from Reading this was incorrect it was 5.5 miles and as such the cost of the taxi to get to Reading was £15 that £30 round trip which is alot of money plus drinks and as you can see it starts to get expensive. My trip was leisure not business. Overall the hotel surroundings were excellent the breakfast was fantastic. Accomodation great views, disappointed with the bar pricing

Overpriced and complacentI was dissapointed by my stay. I thought the hotel was tired, the staff a bit surly, and the bar and food very overpriced. Despite a 'corporate discount' breakfast was an extra £12 (even for a cup of coffee and a piece of toast) making the stay very dear. How this hotel gets to be classed as 4* is a surprise. I would sum it up as an overpriced assumption that Business Travellers wil put up with anything.

Stayed on the DBB package. Check your route to hotel before set off as from Motorway some signs are not clear. Hotel was clean tidy and value for money.

Copthorne in ReadingQuite stunning location in many respects, but a little underwelming unfortunately. Food (Curry) was surprising good and staff were very friendly and efficient although all about 18. Lacking decent facilities like gym etc but overall not bad.

Copthorne ReadingDefinately in need of a refurb , on occasions we stay at the Majeski hotel the sister hotel and there is no comparison between the two .. The service was good all the staff were friendly and helpful ,the hotel its self was very tired and old fashioned looking , the food was ok !

Perfect!Best romantic getaway for years, we paid £80 for room, 3 course dinner& full english breakfast. We paid a further £20 to upgrade to a superior room which was well worth it.Everything was perfect, the smiling welcome, food, service & view over the lake....perfect!

Booked in for one night here, but moved to sister hotel The Millenium at |The Madjeski Stadium.Main problem was the midgies ! The view is great but could not open the windows because of the midgies. This also meant the room was oppresively warm.Staff excellent in apologising and arranging accommodation for the same price in the excellent Millenium at The Madjeski Stadium about 10 minutes drive into Reading.

Pleasant stayThis is a good place to stay on business. \"Clever\" TV, good food, friendly staff, nice rooms - just a bit out in the sticks.

Not really a 4 star hotel - could do betterEverything about this hotel says it should be really good, but it was just missing something. The rooms could all do with a scrub down and a touch of paint, but apart from that, they are very spacious and comfortable. Having a view over the lake with the sun beaming down whilst having breakfast in the room was wonderful. On demand music didn't work, but we didn't enquire why.Dinner in the restaurant was fabulous (except the house wine), but there was a lack of atmosphere here and throughout the hotel.

Best chicken caeser salad i've hadgenerally good for a \"business\" hotel, location on the lae makes up for hotel chain sytle presentation. Fantastic chicken caeser cooked in bar area and bar staff friendly.Beware if approaching in large car, width restrictions on the route I took nearly took out the alloys on the Q7 I was driving!
