Our allocated room was no more than adequate. We were offered an upgrade at an extra cost per night, but declined. The room felt tired with marks on the walls, a window that wouldn't stay open, and soiled carpets. Customer service overall was good but not great.Parking is totally inadequate, and we were misinformed about the complimentary parking arrangements with the adjacent Sainsbury Supermarket. I found out in the final minutes that parking was free between 2000 hrs to the following 0630 hrs. I was constantly feeding the parking meter unnecessarily,throughout my 2 day stay. The hotel charged £4:50 per day if you could get it.

Excellent city center location. Walking distance of the Theatre Royal and the new Drake's Circus shopping Mall. Rooms are clean and comfortable and breakfast good. Largely a business hotel we were able to secure a promotional rate, which made this an affordable stay. Parking on site is a little difficult to find to initially, but works well. Access in and out of the hotel would be challenging if you are in a wheelchair or have mobility challenges.

gold star for staffStayed in standard room, very stuffy could not leave window open as above noisey road, ceiling fan also noisey, as we stayed when it was very hot very uncomfortable. Not enough electric plugs, if you boiled a kettle could not have lamp on. Room lights very dim decoration very dingy. As we spent little time in room ok but would not like to spend any time in hotel. Restaurant hit and miss great breakfast one day cold breakfast second day. To compensate the staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful made our stay.

Disppointing for a Copthorne Hotel

Overnight stay at PlymouthStaff were exceptionally helpfull .We had just arrived off the ferry from France and got lost in Plymouth looking for the hotel ,so were a little stressed when we arrived .We were travelling on a motorbike and had all our luggage with us and the staff immediatelly came to our assistance, with help locating a parking space for the bike ,and also taking our luggage to our room.

Lovelly stay, wonderful staff.The welcoming staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel was extremly clean and tidy at all times. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable with good views over the City of Plymouth and up towards the Barbican. The bedroom furniture and fittings could do with some updating although this is a personal taste. Wi-Fi and sky tv should be a standard item in a hotel of this quality. Overall a great place that I have already booked to return to. Thank you.

Short StayThe hotel was clean, staffed by friendly people and perfect for a short stop over in Plymouth. The cost via late rooms was excellent value for money; however, the full price tarriff is extremely overpriced at almost three times the cost we paid. As a result I would not advise staying at this hotel unless taking advantage of a special offer. I would strongly recommend this hotel for business trips, but in my opinion, probably not very suitable for romantic getaways. Parking is slightly tricky to navigate first time round, so make sure you park in the underground hotel carpark off mayflower road and not sainsbury's like myself and everyone else we met!

Not a Bad HotelThe hotel staff are very polite and efficient, and the room service was excellent... the food was delivered promptly and was very hot which makes a pleasant change. The hotel room was immaculately clean, but the hotel itself is a bit tired and need refurbishing especially as I had a deluxe room which had no air condition which for £106.00 per night makes this hotel expensive...The other thing that bothered me was there are only 35 spaces in the hotel car park, and if you are not lucky enough to get one (I was) you have to park in the adjacent Sainsbury car park, which, if you have a nice car is unacceptable.

Cop-Out HotelI couldn't fault the staff, they were visible, friendly and helpful, but a big chunk of the negative customer service comments must go to the senior management in the hotel; as in so many other places they adopt a slipshod and penny-pinching approach to the overall impression one has of the placel, leaving the day-to-day staff to pick up the gripes and moans, it seems to me.The hotel was clean and tidy overall and our room was big enough but felt cramped because of the amount of furniture in it, a double sofa and armchair in a room that usually seems to accommodate one and an enormous TV table that served no purpose.The bed itself was a wonder, it had a base made of what seemed to be timber offcuts laid on a frame and the matress seemed to small for it, so a 6-8 inch gap at the top of the base simply had a plank laid across it, with a few throw cushions to cover it. At night the pillows disappeared into the gap and we somehow slid down the matress as well. The matress seemed to be filled with something like builder's rubble, so my wife said she slept fitfully both nights, it didn't bother me as much, but I felt like I'd been on the floor by the morning. To top it all, the duvet seemed very thin and my wife was chilly in the night as well (this was in June).There was no mini-bar and minimal power points to charge phones etc, the TV only had the 5 terrestrial channels and a couple of the 'fill-up' Sky Sports, so not much variety. The lighting in the room was a bit difficult to work out, but there was no main light and a big (plug-in) table lamp. Only one small shower gel, the hot water was scalding and clothes fell off the ironing board!We had breakfast included and the food was good and the staff attentive and brisk, so no complaints there, but after I'd booked the place I read some other comments and we ate out both nights.All in all I was surprised to find that the hotel was 4-star, as a lot of the things one would expect to find weren't there. Very pleasant stay! My husband and I had a very pleasant one night stay at the Copthorne, Plymouth for £66 before attending a friends wedding the following day and we couldn't fault the hotel. Staff were polite and welcoming and checking in and out was straight forward. The room itself was warm and cosy and there was an excellent choice of tv channels. Included in the cost was breakfast and a champagne cocktail both of which were delicious. No complaints, great city centre destination and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Would not rush backRoom was generally tired and out of date, clean but shabby, one sticky mini bottle of shower gel (re filled from a bulk container) and no shampoo. No wi fi in rooms only in bar & reception area, great for a female traveling alone who wants to work late! Check in quick and easy but no information on where to park, where gym was, opening times for restaurant etc. Only interest was in if I wanted to pay £25,00 to upgrade- this was the opening line. After I said no thank you interest in my needs waned rapidly!

Great Stay - Great Price !Our room was clean, modern and contained everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. We paid £66 for a double room with breakfast (worth £15.75/per person) and a free champagne cocktail - a really great deal - would certainly stay again at that price.

One night CopthorneDesparate need for double glazing. The traffic is really noisy even with the window shut from as early as 05.30. It's a shame that the majority of toiletries had been removed. I would expect for a 4 star hotel to have more than one tablet of soap and at least flannels and shampoo. There was one small bottle of shower gel only everything else had been removed ( I know this because I stay approximately 50 nights a year in 4 star hotels for business!

Central locationHad a great room this time - very comfortable, spacious, good housekeeping.Parking costs £4 and is limited although they have an arrangement with Sainsbury car park next doorBreakfast not recommended (don't use free range eggs, poor quality fruit juice etc) but its a good place to stay right in the heart of town and a couple of mins walk from the sea front and Hoe. Staff are always helpful. Bar snacks are good. House champagne v good also.

My stay at the Copthorne Hotel Plymouth - May Bank Holiday WeekendLate rooms had over sold on the double room that I booked, so ended up in a twin room instead. I made a complaint at reception, the lady apologised and gave me a free breakfast for the duration of my stay and upgraded me to very nice double room the next day :) Great service, good baby facilities - nice travel cot for my daughter to sleep in and a clean high chair was provided at breakfast.

family wedding visit to plymouth.my family and i a group of 12 adults travelled to this hotel for our accomodation whilst attending a family wedding in cornwall. we arrived on the friday around 13:00 hrs and althoughbooking in was not until 14:00 hrs we were allowed to book in early. We found the staff to bevery pleasant and most helpfull. Our accomodation was most suitable for our needs and the cleanliness of both our accomodation and the hotel was excellent. We booked in on a bed and breakfast basis and found the breakfast to be of reasonable quality. The hotel staff were very friendly and helped us with local knowlage of Plymouth and the surrounding area, well done all staff !!If i were forced to give one down side it would be having to pay £4 to park our cars in the hotelcar park every 24hr period, why ?We did enjoy our stay and would stay again if visiting Plymouth in the future.thanks.

Ok, but not worth upgradingOk one night stay, dated hotel, small double bed in double room (supposedly superior room), really not worth upgrading at all, so you get some free soft drinks, not worth an extra £20 or so!!! Apart from that, everything else reasonable.
