Slightly disappointed. The room itself was fine if not slightly dated. My issue is that for a hotel like the Copthorne at those prices, there should be free wifi/internet for laptops etc. within the room. Also a double room should not mean two single beds of slightly differing hieghts pushed together. I would stay there again but only because its proximity siuts me and the gym/pool is good.

Good location and overall good hotel, but the bed was too soft and not easy to sleep in

Continental Breakfast price outrageous. Dinner expensive but beautifully presented and prepared. Compliments to the Chef.

overnightGot the feeling that LateRooms customers might be given fewer extras. Room Ok but bathroom not so good: toilet roll holder broken, bath plug not with bath. TV handset broken. Internet slow and possibly expensive so we didn't download anything. Little on tea/coffee tray. Brochure promised a free mini-bar for soft drinks but there was nothing. For a four star hotel it left much to be desired.

The CopthorneThis hotel is a little way out of Cardiff and cost between £12 and £17 in taxis depending on the time of day. However, the hotel facilities are excellent and the staff are really friendly and helpful. I would cetainly stay there again

3 night stayHotel is very well located just outside of cardiff with easy access to the bay. We opted to include the evening meal with entertainment. It was a set menu, very bland. I felt we were sitting with thousands of guests. The service lacked that something that you would expect from a hotel such as this. The entertainment was not very good. The idea was ok, but this small group need to learn that singing everything at the loudest volume is not the way to make friends with the dinners. Hitting the correct notes is. So many notes were flat that we put ear plugs in. As to the room a couple of things were missing. The mini bar in the room was empty and there were no instructions as to the services the hotel had to offer. A first in any hotel i've previously stayed at.

We had booked a Club room which was spacious and comfortable although there were no complimentary chocolates or fruit on arrival as had been stated on the booking form. There was also only one robe in the room and one set of towels. We ate in the restaurant- the food was very good and the service excellent . We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. The hotel was busy because of the Ashes and reception staff were harassed - we had rung asking for directions but were told to ring back because they were too busy to take our call!!

RestaurantWe booked a reservation at the hotel restaurant for 21.00 and only ordered 1 main course each as it was getting late - there were only 6 tables occupied (about 25%) and despite us chasing the manager on a number of occasions we did not get served until 21.55. This really disappointed us as we were booked for 2 nights and had to eat outside the restaurant for our second night. We have already booked for another hotel in this chain (Birmingham) and can only hope the service is much better

Dining theatreFantastic value - 4* hotel - Bed, breakfast 3 course dinner + show for £79. Very sophisticated rooms but a bit used in places (some signs of wear and tear on furniture). Breakfast was fantastic - quiet, good service, delicious and plenty of variety. Pool and gym clean. Entertainment was a bit more Butlins than West End, My husband and I were there for a relaxing, good humoured break and took the evening as amusing entertainment rather than a professional show. Dinner was pleasant but don't expect the standard of food that is served in the restaurant upstairs. Great value for £80 but would not pay more. Planning a dining theatre break at the Copthorne with friends soon.

Lovely RestaurantI felt that the rooms (mine was a twin) were a little tired and old fashioned feeling, and would have benefitted from air conditioning - the proximity to the main road meant that it was quite noisy with the windows open. However, the restaurant was very nice and the food exceptional, as was the service. Very convenient location, and a nice setting with the lake to walk around. Also close to a shopping centre for something to do in the evening.

Copthorne CardiffGenerally disappointed. A tired hotel in need of refurbishment. Room fridge didn't work, no TV in the bedroom of our suite and other little things that took the shine off our stay. Will use other Cardiff hotels in the future.

Will bump from room given half a chanceHotel has no air conditioning in rooms which is not acceptable for 4 star hotel particularly in summer. Attempted to book an extra night 24 hrs in advance, which was agreed verbally at the desk but we were later told hotel was full and we'd have to leave the room.

Room only rate was very good. Very expensive to buy the breakfast separately, but it's a very easy walk across the road to the M&S coffee shop and to Tesco.

Nice hotel but loud music on Friday night till 1pm.We had a lovely room. The only complaint was that there was a function in the hotel on Fri night and we heard house 'douff douff' music till 1pm.They also had an annoying habit of collecting room service trays at midnight on a trolley that caused plates to go up and down.Breakfast was not included but we could get vouchers from reception for 10 pounds.

Very good value at the price. Would have liked more choice on the bar menu.
