Well worth a visit!!!!!!!!!This hotel is a fantastic choice for all visits to central Birmingham, plenty of nightlife in walking distance and in a safe area. Easy access to shops and also hippodrome, NIA etc. The recption staff were extremely pleasant and we were even offered a later check out time free of charge. A relaxed atmosphere and will definately revisit.

I was in Birmingham with a friend for the International Double Reed Society Conference that was held in some of the public rooms of the Copthorne Hotel, the Birmingham Conservatoire, and surrounding music halls in the area. The only good thing that I could say about the hotel is the convenience to the conference. The hotel was advertised as being air conditioned. The public rooms might be, but the guest rooms are not. I chose the hotel because of the air conditioning because of my allergies which make it necessary to avoid outside pollens and polutants. Also, my friend has a heart condition that makes it difficult to be in un air conditioned conditions. My bathroom was extremely moldy which is bad when you have an allergy to most molds. Also, the key card for my room didn't work well. I had it replaced 3 times with the same results. I would try up to 20 times to get in before I would give up and go down stairs for help. There also waso not soft drink machine or ice machine available. The front desk staff was always friendly and good at answering questions, but that doesn't make up for being misled by their write=up of the amenities of their hotel.

Does what it says on the tin!I stayed overnight whilst visiting and found the Copthorne online with a good deal for £45 per night for a double room. I was delayed arriving so called to check if I could check in late. The staff alleviated my worries. I arrived very late and was able to book in within a couple of minutes. The staff were friendly if overly keen to sell me extra services. I did not try any of the food, although it seemed reasonable considering I was in a hotel. I took a walk around. The location is very central and close to nightlife and attached to the paradise mall which has late night facilities. The vicinity around the hotel has lots of traffic on one side and the concourses into the mall and other areas was very dirty with lots of rubbish, not the nicest place to wander around. The room was old fashioned, but had all the basics and was clean. The room was a little hot so had to listen to traffic when I opened the window, but was not too bothered. All in all a good stay and easy enough to get to and from. Recommend if on a good deal. Would like to have paid too much more though. Recommend for a functional stay anytime.

Great location, easy to get to everything in the city center. The room is quite nice for the price, the bed is comfortable and the service is good. My small complaint is that the room was not air conditioned and could be stuffy. I also did not like the in-room "internet via tv" which I found very difficult to use and did not have much capability.

brim feedbackRoom service and breakfast very good. Not a 4* room. Pull down bed and old strip light. Looked like a syndicate room not bedroom.Dated furnishings and dusty smell.

Excellent location poor hotelWhen we arrived at the hotel, was pleasantly surprised as i was expecting it to be awful as the reviews i read were quiet iffy. The hotel reception was posh and the staff were lovely. When we got upto our room, on the third floor we saw that the room was shabby looking and was in great need of decorating! Although i have to say it was very clean! It is very warm in the rooms and the window only opens a small bit (obviously for health and safety reasons) There is no air con either :-( Overall i dont think i would stay here again as it isnt really a 4 star hotel. A shame really as the location is excellent! Nando's is less than a five minute walk away and wetherspoons, greggs, macdonalds..............

Decent hotel for a good priceFriendly staff, decent room, not massive but big enough for a 1 night stay. Only downside was the bathroom which could have done with some TLC, it was clean but shower head was broken and some mould on afew of the groutlines between the tiles, nothing massive.

Room too warmThe hotel is very well located and the overall expereince would have been very good had it not been for the stuffiness of the room. It was far too warm for comfort, especially for sleeping. Its a pity that this one aspect should override the positives (room was a good size and the bed was comfortable) but it is important to have the right ambient air temperature in order to feel relaxed and comfortable.

It was a nice 2 nights. The value for the money was acceptable. The room was pretty hot, even for my girlfriend who came from tropical country, despite there was no heating on. And the window faced to a busy area, but luckily, it wasn't too noisy. The cleanliness pretty good, but for this money i would expect more tv channels. Anyway, the location is good.

Modern central hotelStaff very friendly and helpful, room clean, though bathroom is starting to show its age, bed comfortable. Compared with the last hotel i stayed at in Birmingham it offered good value for money. As I slept with the window open the noise from the inner ring road below was a potential downside. The rate did not include breakfast but there a lots of places in the City centre 100 metres away.

Sleepless in BirminghamThe location of the hotel was excellent, being close to all the main amenities, shops, bars, restaurants and other leisure venues. My room was good except for the fact that it faced onto a busy 3 lane motorway - the traffic was constant even throughout the night. The secondary glazing did not really deaden the noise. I had very little sleep the first night as I had kept the window open as it was very warm. the second night was not much better despite closing the window and glazing unit the noise was still audible. I was on the second floor so it may not be so bad if you are higher up. A real shame as the hotel was otherwise very good.

The staff were very rude and unhelpful. We were awoken early on the morning by the sound of banging of doors which it turned out were by the cleaning staff. When my wife complained she was given comments back. At breakfast I asked reception the price and they said 8 GBP. When I went to breakfast I was to be charged 15.75 GBP. When asked why I was told \" I already asked you if you had a voucher and you said no ! You need a voucher for a 8 GBP brekafast which you have to get at reception. I siad I will go then to reception at which point she grunted and scribbled through the bill she prepared and threw it onto a pile in disgust.

Tired hotel needs updatingThis centrally situated hotel, is badly in need of a makeover. The bathrooms are shabby, and small, lacking in some basic toiletries. The restaurant staff speak little English. Breakfast is basic, with little choice. Coffee is served from a thermos into mugs, I associate this with budget, motel accomodation, not something of a 4 star rating. The staff collecting plates, do not wait until you are finished, but the minute the spoon goes down, the bowl is taken!, Efficient, no rather hasty!.......Disappointing........The only person this hotel would suit, is pssibly a male, that doesn't expect too much, doesn't care about the quality of food, as long as its piled high, and doesn't want the internet!

Lone travellerThe hotel is very central and the staff were friendly and efficient. The room was clean and well furnished but there was no air conditioning and as it was a very hot night I had to leave the window open which then proved very noisy. Also disappointed to note that WiFi was not available as you come to expect this for business travellers. Last point which was only a small one there was only half a roll of toilet paper left which ran out very quickly and I had to use tissues.

Charged for Parking?Paying for parking in a 4 star hotel is a disappointing addition to the cost of the stay, especially when the car park is part of the hotel's premises itself. When questioned why this was the case, I'm not sure 'because everyone does it' is an adequate answer! This response smacks slightly of low cost airline policy offering cheap service but charging for everything else!

competitve pricecorridors smelly = room hot and too much traffic noise when window open.requires air-con.breakfast too expensive @ £16 per person,so ate @ bar one.morning newspaper had not arrived by 10.00 hrs , so cancelled order.

weekend breakHotel location was perfect for a shopping / night out trip. The car was left in the car park all weekend everything was in easy walking distance, Shops to one side and the lively Broad Street to the other. The room was a standard hotel room nothing special. A few things that need to be looked at, the rooms are in desperate need for air conditioning and room service was disappointing soup was nice but spaghetti Bolognese was tasteless (did get free drink vouchers after complaining so they get a plus mark for that). ... Tip, if you have ironing to do ask for a board and iron when you book in otherwise you have to run up and down the floors to see if anyone has left one outside their room !!!!

one might in brum!!Nice hotel, great room on 5th floor top floor with a not bad view, room was fairly clean bit of skuze around the tiles and shower screen and a good sized bed. The rooms where a little tierd looking.. but clean on the whole. Check in was good and for a change all the staff spoke very good english a bit of a shock in some city hotels in uk now!.Bar shut at 2330 and no residents bar which unusual. The hotel is fairly easy to find and very well p[laced for the birmingham night life around brindly place etc all with in 3 mins walk.
