Value for moneyThis was great value for money and John who was on reception was a great help with taking our bookings and the next morning. The hotel is basic and has old decor but it was clean and tidy with fresh towels and extremly good value for money. I have recommended it to someone I work with this morning for a cheap and basic place to stay in Manchester. Pleasently suprised!(we missed breakfast though so havent commented on this although the breakfast room looked quaint)

MerchantsReasonable accomodation for the price. There were no towells for guests - I had to go and buy one from Debenhams! They did have an Iron to borrow and directed me very well to the various places I had to go.

Night of FunArrived at Copperheads about 5.30pm on the Friday night was greeted at reception by two very helpful members of staff who took time to explain about breakfast, location and even gave us a map of the city and marked where we were (which was very helpful). The rooms were basic but clean, our bathroom looked like it had been recently installled and was sparkly new. I liked the fact that breakfast was from 9.30am to 10.30am so you got a decent lie in and the selection of breakfast and the fact that you could help yourself to whatever you wanted was really good. A different person was on reception on Saturday morning who again was very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The location for the MEN Arena was great and we had a brilliant night, also really liked mouching around Manchester on Saturday great city, good accommodation (a complete bargain for a city centre location) would stay there again.

Good hotelBooked this hotel for 2 nights accomodation while we went to a concert. It was the last hotel we could book which was near enough to the gig. We were a little apprehensive as we'd read some negative reviews. On arrival (in the pouring rain!) we were warmly welcomed to Manchester and the hotel. We were immediately given clean towels to dry off. After a quick chat the staff gave us great advice on the best ways to travel to the gig (which was in Heaton Park. We entered our room and were pleasantly suprised. OK, there was dust on the skirting and lampshades but the bedding towels and bathroom was clean. There was also a clean kettle, cups and tea and coffee supplies. Breakfast was contintental and was fine, the usual, tea, coffee, juice, cereals, ham, cheese, toast and preserves. Staff then advised that there was a cafe just next door which could provide us with a full English for just £4.00 each!! Lovely, of course we obliged. The staff even brought the food to us in the hotel. All in all, we couldn't understand why people have left poor feedback for this hotel. The staff couldn't do enough to help, offering to arrange our travel around the city and getting more supplies for our room etc.

Not the prettiest but convenient, clean, cheap as chips and friendly.Positives- Easy to find and conveniently located (at the bottom of Deansgate) - Cheap (was only £25 for B&B) - Staff on reception were friendly and helpful (even called me near to my requested check-in time to make sure I could find them ok) Negatives - Not the prettiest location, building or interior (some furniture left in hall, couple of missing bulbs) - Appeared to be undergoing renovation.

Cheap and cheerfulValue hotel in need of some upgrading. Clean sheets and hot water, bed bit uncomfertable but overall given close proximity of town centre and low price it was good stay.

Cheap and cheerfulThis place is very central for exploring Manchester and cheap- given it includes a breakfast. The beds are very comfortable and the guy on reception is quite nice. However, the hallways stink of smoke and as a group of non-smokers we didn't like that. Also, our room had just been painted and hadn't been aired properly. The breakfast is pretty basic consisting of toast and cereals but it hits the spot!We loved the location and the size of our room, the beds are really comfy, our room had an ensuite bathroom and it ended up being cheaper than a hostel and a good base to explore the city! If the staff stopped smoking inside it would be much better!

It is quite nice nowAfter seeing all the bad reviews of this hotel I kind of expected a bad experience, but - it was great! The room was roomy and quite nice. Breakfast was cornflakes and toast with milk - none of this unhealthy fryup muck.Reception staff were very helpful and accommodating.OK it is not the ritz, but is superb for the economy traveller.Recommended.

A very good choice for travellers on a budgetStayed at Copperheads for the Champions League game on March 11th, we just needed a place to rest a few hours and this was our best choice. Cheap, clean and with a decent brekkie. Recommended.

Upon arrival, the man and reception area stank of stale smoke. The room was dirty with cigarette ash in the room and really cold. The beds were unstable and uncomfortable with bedding not warm enough given the lack of heating for January with a set of ladders leading to the 'upstairs en-suite'. Too many other unclean/broken facilities to mention, so all in all one of the worse guest houses we have had the misfortune to stay in.

Don't really understand all the negative reviews of this place. It was great value for money and I had no problems. My room was clean and breakfast was adequate given the price. Would rather stay here than some anonymous Travelodge. Great location for Deansgate.
