Worst hotel I ever stayed in by far! I will NEVER use orbitz again and that is because orbitz charges $25.00 to cancel a reservation days before the reservation date. If I would have gone through the hotel directly...I would have paid the SAME PRICE!!! AND, I could have cancelled the reservation for NOTHING!!! ORBITZ SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! I will tell everyone I know not to use orbitz.

Convenient location, inexpensive. Could have used some cleaning around the edges. Guaranteed late arrival was not a problem. Check-in was quick and easy. Off street parking was helpful. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Complimentary continental breakfast was basic, but good. Free wireless internet was helpful, too. Very convenient to strip shopping centers for food or coffee. Located on a main street. Good place to stay for a few nights if you're not going to spend much time in the hotel room.

We checked in with our 18 month old son at 11pm at night on a Saturday. We had flown across country from California to Dulles and then drove in a rental car to Richmond. We travel with a portable temperature sensor to keep our climate good for baby. Our room was 85 DEGREES! We turned on the "air conditioner" and the room got HOTTER! We asked the front desk for a fan and they did not have anymore available but they then LIED to us and said that management would turn on the air conditioner on Sunday. My fiance drove clear across town to a relative's house at 1:20 am and borrowed a fan. The window in our room did not have a screen on it, so we were lucky that our child was cooperative to stay in his crib. Mind you, the baby was awake the whole night because he was sweating to death from the heat. The fan brought the room down to 77 degrees at 5:00 am, but then the temperature started to rise again. I went down for the breakfast at 7:00 am and I mentioned to the front desk guy that we really looked forward to the a/c being turned on. He said, "oh, i am sorry ma'am, we just turned off the heat, we are not planning to turn on the air conditioning... just run the fan in your room and leave the window open" WE HAVE AN 18 MONTH OLD BABY, WE CANNOT LEAVE A WINDOW OPEN WITHOUT A SCREEN IN THE WINDOW!!!! Also, the breakfast was disgusting. I would give this hotel negative stars if it were possible. BE WARNED... DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Also, we had a room with 2 queen beds and 1 of the queens was BROKEN.

We were attending a high school graduation and the location was very convenient. The outside was not appealing, buy the lobby was attractive and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The rooms were okay in general. The bathroom sink had loose faucets and the toilet was noisy. I would stay again if on a one-night trip. Probably would not recommend to friends, especially traveling alone.

The bed was comfortable. I was disappointed with the overall appearance of the hotel. The lobby was attractive buthowever, the rooms were not as nice.

I was hesitant to book here because of the poor reviews, but bargain weekend rate convinced me to try it. Good Points: excellent location on Broad Street just a few blocks from Science Musuem/IMAX, easy to find from Interstate and easy to access other Richmond attractions from here, adjacent to free parking lot, free breakfast, room updated and clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Weak Points: we hit during an unusual warm spell in December and could not get AC to cut on so room was too hot, location is in older commercial part of city so no nice views and I would advise using extreme caution walking or jogging streets around hotel. We believe this is an older hotel previously operated under another name, but all the facilities appear to be newly renovated with fresh paint and new furnishings. The conference rooms were set up for an event, the cafe where the breakfast was served was clean with a nice assortment of food choices. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

It was my third visit to VCU campus with my daughter and the previous two times we had not been happy with our hotel choice. Three was the charm because this hotel was clean (no smell)and they had a free complete breakfast - not just coffee and a muffin.

An excellent stay for the money and convenience of location. It could use some cosmetic upgrade. Good location, very good breakfast.

This hotel was perfect b/c its halfway from the heart of downtown and southside of richmond where all my friends live. There are plenty of resturants nearby and close to the james river. It has a crystal clear blue pool which is amazing. If you are worried about its location b/c its near downtown richmond and your not from richmond it has great security in the fact that the doors leading inside the hotel are all locked and you need your hotel key to get into the hotel and into your room and into the pool thats on the roof. Its great to have a pool on the roof b/c it creates more privacy. After all this hotel is on a busy road in downtown richmond that is west broad. It was the cleanest place and the cleanst pool i have ever been in, in awhile

Comfortable stay, convenient I95 stop point between Florida & Rhode Island. Full complimentary hot breakfast only served on weekdays. Waffles and regular continental fare on weekends. Stayed in a two-bed smoking room. Super comfy beds, and I thought the bedspreads were pretty. The room seemed a little small for two beds, and the bathroom was very small compared to a lot of other hotels. Nice clean towels, complimentary shampoo and conditioner (most places give you shampoo and useless body lotion). The bathroom was clean enough, but there was an awkward-to-scrub but easy-to-see corner that needed attention.

My husband and I made a quick getaway and had a difficult time finding a location in Richmond. We later found out it was VCU's graduation and therefore hotel rooms were hard to come by. I booked the Comfort Inn because it was close to downtown and a concert we were attending. The price for the room was very reasonable. We were greeted warmly and the check-in was quick. At the elevator a sign was posted stating that improvements were pending. (A past reviewer stated that improvements were being made last Fall, so I assumed - wrongly - that they would be complete). The elevator was dirty and smelly and it only got worse as we walked into the hallway on our floor. The radiator was ripped from the wall in the foyer, pipes exposed, and the carpet was thread-bare. The whole floor had the same stale, icky smell. Outside the door to our room there was a bucket collecting water dripping from the ceiling. The ceiling tiles were pushed back and my husband could see a funnel in the ceiling directing dripping water into another bucket secured to the pipes. At first glance, our room seemed fine, but honestly, it was just plain dirty. Not from the lack of housekeeping, but from time. The hotel seems old and dirt accumulates if you don't keep up with it. Old ground-in dirt had collected in the corners of the bathroom and the tub was scurvy. The room also had the same smell as the rest of the hotel. I will say that the staff was friendly and the breakfast the next morning was decent (get there early though). The lobby and mtg rooms had been renovated nicely so maybe it's just a matter of time until the rooms follow.

It seemed to be on a popular street in Richmond VA. Room was not clean, food on floor broke light! The hotel was okay, the middle lamp was missing a light bulb, the bed had food under it and the temperature was not adjustable by the room, the entire hotel was at the same temperature.

One bed in our first room was saggy and we discovered one side was not supported by the frame. We were given a different room and had same problem, but we made do (slept on supported side). Bathroom clean but outdated. Negotiating around renovation activities was tricky with luggage, but hopefully the improvements will make a difference. Continental breakfast better than in most Comfort Inns.

I was traveling on business, and wanted a location close to my meeting place. Didnt want anything fancy, just cheap. I got exactly what I was looking for. Everything worked, the bed was comfortable enough, so what more do you want? This isnt the place to take your girlfriend to impress her, but it would do if you need a place to stop for the night for you or maybe even for the budget-conscious family or scouting group. It's pretty convenient to I-95, and close enough to downtown if you want to drive in. Check the rates, figure out what you want.

It was fairly close to the conference center, staff was friendly. The halls and elevator were dirty and dingy. The rooms were somewhat clean, beds were clean, it did not look like anyone ever cleaned around the edges. If traveling for business for a day or two I would stay again due to location and price. If I were going for much more time or for pleasure probably not.

"Would never go back, rooms were not clean, had to put towel in tub before I would shower."

The hotel was just ok. There was a sort of musty smell throughout. But the bed was very clean and comfortable. We were just in town for one night and didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel, for that it was fine. We didn't make it down to breakfast, but at check-in and later when our key didn't work the front desk staff was great. The pool is in the middle of the elevated parking lot, so not exactly relaxing, but kids seemed to be enjoying it regardless. It was a fine place, great location for us, easy to get to and from. The hotel itself was definitely old, but was all really needed.

Great location and friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable. I was surprised at the great price. Great location, great price, very clean and comfy, excellent breakfast, friendly and capable staff. The experience was much much more than I expected for the great price we got!
