The Comfort Inn, Hill City, SD was a good base location for seeing most of the Black Hills sites. It is a plain hotel with not much amentities but it works well for a base camp. The breakfast area was always very crowded which caused several folks to either have to stand or take food back to their rooms. They did have an outdoor patio where you could eat but a couple of the days it snowed so you could not go out. The clerk did not tell us there was not an elevator before he scheduled us in a room on the 2nd floor. It would be difficult for an older person to get the suitcases up and down the staircase if they were on the upper floor. The whole hotel was non-smoking which was wonderfu. There is a gas station with Subway located right next door which made it easy to get snacks. The hotel is too far on the outskirts of town to walk to the resturants in town. You will need to drive.

The hotel location is very good. The town is small and there is not much to do, if you wan to getaway from it all, this would be the place. It is very close to Mt. Rushmore and not too far out from Rapid City. The Room was not quite as nice as we were expecting. The bed sheets were odd and somewhat scratchy. The room was not sound proof at all, you could hear people walking above and it seemed like every door slam rattled our room. The parking lot was very small and not very well layed out. The staff was nice and helpful. The price for the room was about right, no frills, nothing special, but an OK place to say.

Hotel staff was really helpful, location is good. Need to clean the room, especially the bed cover. Pros: I like this hotel. location, staff. Cons: Need to clean up more better in cafeteria. Cleanup thoroughly room. Bed cover was getting old and may have dust mites.

rooms were average, no microwave or refrigerator, continental breakfast was good, close enough to town to walk.

We stayed here for two nights, and enjoyed it very much. The kids loved it because it had a pool that was nice. They also had an excellant cont. breakfast that had a lot to choose from, which I liked. The front desk was helpful and the rooms were clean. Not a lot to do right in Hill City, but it was centrally located for all the activities that I had planned. Close to Mt. Rushmore, Reptile Gardens, Bear Country. USA, etc. The parking lot is small and parking close to the room was a problem. Would stay again, great value for the price.

Location and quality of customer support by staff. Needs new carpet. My experience at the hotel was pleasant. The staff was great. I enjoyed the view. I was impressed with the historic walking path so close to the hotel. I would stay there again but the cost for rooms was higher that I expected. Keystone (another mountain town) was more exciting and hotels were less expensive.

The Hotel was great the staff was very helpful. The problem was online travel website we are Senior Citizens and online travel website book us on second floor and we had to carry suit cases up two flights of stairs so we did not care for that there was no elvator so the steps were hard for us. Other than that the hotel was great. And will probably never book with them again.

Comfortable, accommodating, helpful staff, quieter town. - We needed an extra bed, so the staff let us borrow an extra small futon free-of-charge for my son. The staff was helpful anytime I had a question. The rooms were very comfortable and we loved the small-town atmosphere in Hill City. The breakfasts had a good selection.

This hotel was very nice. We ended up with a handicapped room so it was huge. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. There is a gas station and general store next door but you have to drive a couple blocks to get down town. My big concern with hotels is the feeling of being safe and I felt very comfortable here. It is close to all the area attractions, Mt Rushmore (the drive there is beautiful), Keystone, Custer, Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road. It's a nice place to stay a few days.

Continental breakfast. Toilet backed up and had 3 keys that didn't work. I was disappointed that it took getting issued 3 keys until I got one that worked correctly. Also, having to ask the front desk clerk for a plunger to clear up our toilet that stopped up was not a pleasant experience, either.

Nice size rooms. Comfy beds. Nice pool and hot tub. No fridge or microwave in room. Great location in black hills. Staff was helpful in giving directions. Traffic noise may be a problem during busy season.

Superb location, neat & clean, kids loved pool. Night clerk had limited knowledge. Great location, hotel seems new, very family friendly, breakfast appreciated, easy drive to every thing.

They had one of the best continental breakfast I have seen. I didn't like that there was no elevator, especially when you have a lot of luggage. For the most part I really liked the hotel. The pool and hot tub were great. My husband and grandson loved to take walks on the bike trail behind the hotel. There were a lot of different animals like deer and coyotes that they saw. We could also see the deer from the pool area.
