This was the worst hotel that I ever have stayed in. The location was terrible. It was in a marginally unsafe location. The place appeared rundown and in need of repairs. Th hotel upon arrival reeked of sewage, which never changed the entire stay. The elevator was so slow that one wondered if it was going to stop before we got to the floor. We were shocked to learn that there was no refridge or microwave in the room. The roomalso smelled but not as bad as the rest of the hotel. The staff was nice which was the only good thing to say about this visit. The location was not what we expected... Thi is the worst hotel ever.

Very disappointed to be an employee with choice hotels and have this hotel part of the chain. POOR MANAGEMENT, Checked in to find room occupied and had to get a king room instead of two doubles that was reserved, but I was not the only guest that night with major problems . Front desk not trained properly as they did not know what to do or what was going on. I only blame the GM as this is his/her job to train staff properly or work the front desk. Management company that runs hotels should be ashamed. If you are going to direct customers to park under freeway ramps get them lighted so they are somewhat safe. Only good thing was I was only staying for 1 night and I received an employee rate as this was all the hotel was worth. I feel bad for the customers that were paying alot more for a room. Iam sorry I have to complain as an associate of another independently owned choice hotel but feel I have to voice my opinion.

To start off though, the staff at the Comfort Inn was great. My wife and I were able to check in early and the room was clean and they were helpful if we needed directions. The down side of this hotel is the location for one. Meaning, it's really close to downtown (5min) which is a PLUS but the hotel is in a low lying area so it floods in front of the hotel everytime it is hightide. So, if you don't have a SUV or van then you might get stuck in the flood. Another downside is the parking. There isn't enough parking spaces on the location so you were told to park under the highway next to the hotel. The area isn't lit up so I found it very dangerous to park there and plus you had some homeless people sleeping right next to your cars. I would recommend staying closer to downtown and spend the extra money.

Location. The evelators were extremely slow, the stairs would put you outside and not in the lobby.

This was THE worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. From the moment that we arrived, We knew that this was going to be a bad experience. The hotel lobby reeked of sewage or urine. The place appeared run down and dirty. There is no microwave or refridge. The hotel staff was very lax in their greeting. The elevators are slow and were also very dirty and smelled. The hotel was located in a terrible location. There was limited parking and the surrounding area was very unsafe. This was an awful place to stay. Also, very hard to find...and if you are lost...it is very unsafe. This was a hell hole. Never again...Spend more money and stay in the historic district.

Great location since it was near the MUSC. We were in a room by the stairwell and the door slammed each time someone used the stairwell.

Reversationist reported 10 blocks to historic market area - was more than a mile. Reversationist reported shuttle each half hour - came every hour, 50 yards away. Mold around bath tub. Parking inadequte if hotel anywhere near capacity. Parking at back of hotel doesn't feel safe. Hotel in what seems like an industrial area. One elevator VERY slow, the other OK. Upon arrival, receptionist very helpful and effecient. Lobby clean, dining room clean. food (continental breakfast) OK. We would not stay there again. Very disappointed in this Comfort Inn location - we usually like Comfort Inns.

We got to the hotel about an hour before check in and we had to wait. When i asked if our room was ready, they said yes and gave us the key. We went up to our room, went into the room and the bed was unmade and garbage still sitting out in the room (the room was not ready) when we approached one house keeper on the floor she was very friendly and said she would do the room as soon as she was done with the room she was working on. But we could put our luggage in there. When we approached another housekeeper she looked and me and said me no speak english One of the 2 elevators did not work the whole weekend what put a slowness in getting to our room and the lobby. Will not stay here again

Elevator the slowest one I have ever been on. Overall the hotel was Ok but I can’t say I would stay there again. The elevator was really slow and not ventilated very well. Parts of the hotel smelled like a cat had been let loose with no access to a litter box. Breakfast was pretty good. Nice selection and the woman working the breakfast area made you feel right at home.

First off I was greeted by the stressed out front desk lady with ?Hope you got reservations?, we did guess it was good. We had trouble getting in our room along with most of the people we talked to. We got new keys tried them, they did not work and finally I found a Comfort Inn maintenance man and ask if he could get us into our room. He got one of the keys to work and went to get more which we finally got two to work if you put them in and out at just the right speed, he said they needed cleaning and they were out of the cleaners. One of the two elevators didn?t work, when returning after dinner we found that they do not have enough parking spots for all of the people staying at there hotel on a busy night and were told they didn?t know where we could park to just try to find a place. Coffee was in short supply also at the breakfast bar and lobby area in the mornings. Guess not many hotels for 100 per night in Charleston so we will save up a little for our next trip.

when we first arrived, at 3:00 checkin time we were told that we could not check in for a little while our room was not ready. so, we had to wait after a long drive. the coffee pot is located in the bathroom. we did not like that. the condiments for the coffee had been opened. the only good thing about this hotel is that it was close to musc.

The elevator was very slow for so few floors. A comfortable, utilitarian motel and walk able to the historic district (1.5 miles).

When I went in the lobby I was shocked to find out that there was only one staff member in the entire 7 story hotel. There were quite a few people waiting to check in and I overheard one guest saying someone was already in the room he had rented. When I went to my room I also found out that someone was in my room. I've never had this happen before. The one working elevator smelled like musty water or urine. I don't plan on going back to this hotel anymore.

The comfort Inn Charleston was alright for a first visit to Charleston. It is staffed by very friendly and helpful people. The location is not the best for those who wish to use public transportation which of course is not their fault, and it is some distance from most of the major attractions. That is the only reason that I would not recommend it to a friend. Over all our stay was not bad,as we spent most of our time trying to see all that we could within our limited time.

Just the staff. NA. The room smelled of cigarette smoke, and it smelled awful, and I'm saying this as a smoker, so you can imagine the intensity of the stench. You couldn't open a window, and no fan option on the AC unit, so it's just suffer! The shower and bathroom had no ledge whatsoever, so every shower made a lake of water in the bathroom, which we had to mop up with bath towels after each shower. We later found out it was a handicap accessible shower. The ice machine on our floor was broken. The map quest and goggle directions to the hotel didn't work because the main road to the hotel was flooded (due to poor construction, not rain). We had decaf coffee in the room, but no normal coffee. There was no remote control for the TV, we had to call to get a new one. The elevators were extremely slow. The hotel (Comfort Inn in Charleston) is a classic example of a lower level hotel with no competition, which therefore means that they do not have a need to keep the hotel up to par.

The water pressure was non-existant and there was no hot water the entire weekend. Showers were not possible. Rooms are noisy in that there are large gaps in the entry door that allow you to hear all conversations in hall. Do not stay on the 2nd floor. We were placed directly across from hotel laundry facility on 2nd floor and had to be moved. Do not stay here if you need rest. Room was not cleaned as requested while we were away from the hotel. Staff was very friendly and doing the best they could given the situation with the water.

found parking very inconvenient and not well lit. Hotel elevators were loud and looked to need maintenance. I would have paid more to feel safe.
