Located less than a 10-minute drive from St. Lucia's Hewanorra Int'l Airport on the island's southern shore, guests are able to begin their Coconut Bay vacation within minutes of their arrival on the island. The island capital, Castries, is located less than a one-hour drive from the resort and is served by the George Charles inter-island regional airport.

Dining:

After an exciting day at the beach, relax in Peter John's Lounge. Opens nightly from 6:00 pm for cocktails and drinks. Sing-a-long with the Pianist and later party in the discotheque which opens after dinner from 11:00 pm.

Date of Stay: June, 2009

Loved being just 5 minutes from the resort. Lazy river was great. Scenery was spectacular and the ocean breezes kept you cool while lying in your chaise with your custom made drink from one of the many bars. The tour desk is exceptionally helpful setting up whatever you want. We took the land and sea on the catamarran as part of our resort credit. Even the rain couldn't dampen the fun on that trip. Helpful, friendly staff at the resort and on the excursions.

We stayed at this hotel and found it to be very nice and clean. The room decor was nice, beds were comfy. The staff could not have been more attentive or friendly. The pools were nice. Food at the buffet was okay. Make reservations a day ahead of the evening that you would like to eat at the Italian restaurant or Asian restaturant. The Italian restaurant was good. Nightly entertainment was better than I expected. Grounds are well maintained. Plenty of cabanas and chairs. Seaweed is ever present on the beach, but not really a problem. We didn't venture beyond the resort, so I can't speak for the rest of the island. The only problem we had was the wind was a constant source of frustration. Even sunbathing was a little chilly due to the wind.

Beautiful location...but the the room thermostat did not go below 79 degrees.Friends' rooms hot also. The disco and Bellagio restaurant were also hot. There were also ants in the room. Housekeeping sprayed, left us a can of insect spray in the room. Food was just OK. Drinks were good, thanks to Ted! Staff was nice and we had a great driver Edmond who showed us the entire island and several wonderful tourist attractions. There was a generous welcome package for kids who went to the kids club. I would choose something a little more upscale next time.

The resort has an awesome, very friendly staff!! Unlimited drinks, food, and fun activities! Waterpark was fun! The adult pool small but relaxing with a bar.

St. Lucians are amongst the friendliest people you will ever meet and the staff at the resort are no exception. The resort is kept clean. Maintenance seems to be an ongoing project. While I was there paint was being freshened, things were being repaired. all in an effort to keep the resort looking lovely but it was never obtrusive. The food was surprisingly good although due to low occupancy only one of the 2 main restaurants was open on any given night and 2 nights a week both close for theme nights that are held out by the pools. This is not the place to stay though if you are looking to get out and explore the island on excursions. While there is a tour desk it was absolutely useless. Anytime I asked about trips, even days out, I was told that there weren't enough people signed up. They wouldn't even take your name down in case other people asked about the same excursion. I had to book through an offsite tour rep that was at the property one day. Things that I pre-booked through another company (Barefoot Holidays) before getting there ended up being cancelled. I went in December and apparently for much of the month they sell day passes to local school groups so the water park area, main pool with swim up bar and actiivity pool were often overrun with children. The adult pool was the place to find quiet and most of the adults without kids were found there. The resort is close to the airport but about 7 planes take off each day and all in the afternoon or evening so it is more event than inconvenience. Not something to worry about. Just head to the adult pool and wave them off with everyone else.

PROS: Fabulous staff; great spa services, clean rooms, cable TV, close to airport, lots of activities, big water slide for kids and separate (quiet) adult-only pool area. Food ranged from so-so to pretty good depending on the night. Staff went out of their way to give good service and remember your name! CONS: Beach was pretty but LOTS of seaweed; had to step over 3ft wide area of it to swim. Only cleaned up once during the week.

Staff service was great! Drinks were great, Piton (local beer) on tap and some decent liquor. Food was OK- there could have been more selection at the buffet. After eating for 5 days, we needed a change. The pools were great. Beach had some seaweed, but still nice. Rooms smelled a little like mildew, but they were clean. Overall, great experience and would go back.

We went with our 3 year-old daughter and she had a blast: playing in the kids pool, water park and even at the day care facility. best of all she enjoyed meeting other kids (from the UK, Canada, US). We (parents) just chilled. the resort was 25% occupied, which meant more stuff than guests. the stuff is genuinely nice (as most locals we met). the all inclusive food was surprisingly pretty tasty (the "restaurants were "OK"). We enjoyed walking along the 1/2 mile deserted, palm covered beach right in front of the resort. bottom line, it's an 3 star (aging 4 star) facility that is well maintained by a friendly stuff, especially well suited for families. We spent 2 weeks and are planning to go back.

The booked us double beds on our honeymoon. The food was terrible! We lost water for 2 days, a/c for 2 days, power for 1 day (all different days). It took 2.5 hours to eat due to service at the them resteraunt. Eat outside the resort as the buffet was terrible too. 90% of the scheduled activities were cancelled. The resort ran out of banannas for 3 days! The chief export of the island is banannas!! What a disaster! This resort has so much potential, but at this time is only a dissapointment. We wasted our honeymoon at Coconut Bay Resort.

This was our first all-inclusive hotel and we loved it! The staff was super friendly and the location was beautiful. The waterslides were really fun too! The food was plentiful and great. We did the "Romance Dinner" the last night and it was a really romantic capstone to our trip. The concierge arranged two trips for us: We went on the Ziplines and had a blast. We also did a catamaran tour of the west coast of St. Lucia (trips arranged by the hotel) to see Soufriere with the drive-in volcano, Piton mountains, snorkling and Diamond Waterfall. We highly recommend this hotel!

Like most Caribbean resorts, some of the staff were beyond the call of duty and some were there for the check. Most fit the former category. And, like most all-inclusives, the food tended to be a little tiring after awhile, although the selection was good. The grounds were great with excellent pools. I heard others complain about the seaweed on the beach, but it was more of a grass and didn't impact my swimming off the beach at all. The beach facilities (lounge chairs, beach beds, hammocks, etc) were top-notch and none of that having a towel card that had to be turned in on check out. These beach ameneties may have been harder to acquire had we been there in the high season. I loved having an adult-only pool, although some people seem to think that didn't mean "their" kids (but to be fair, the kids were never in that pool, just hanging around the adult side). Side trips were a little expensive compared to other Caribbean destinations, but well done and a lot of fun. I'm mostly just nit-picking as the whole experience was wonderful.

Did't like the birds eating and puping at the food in the restaurant, no food covers? the management shoul be aware of birds flus and deseases.

If all you want to do is lay next to a pool you will be happy. The ocean at the beach was not clear so we needed to drive to got snorkeling. No water sports available at this resort. The resort is not well maintained. We needed to call about our shower as well as the air condtioning. We noticed that a light bulb was out and the floors were not real clean. The island did not feel like a safe destination. The resort provided a lot of securtiy though.

The drinks are good and strong considering that they are free. The beach had a lot of seaweed but cleared up for a couple of days and was warm and as clear as any! The food is a little strange but will get the job done, although you must get a taxi and go to "Debbies" for the best food on the island. The views are breathtaking and the people are priceless. No this resort is not the best, but for people like us who would have not been able to go to St. Lucia without a resort that isn't mega expensive it gets the job done, we loved it and will def go back!

the food was ho-hum except for the western cookout by the pool. that was excellent. the cocktails were very good. the atmosphere at the resort is very relaxing; it's easy to get into "the island" mode. the water slide and lazy river on the family side were lots of fun, even for adults. it was difficult to get the wait staff to bring us water or to refill our water glasses. we had to "self serve" most of the time. we rented a car and driver from avis in the lobby of the hotel. what an excellent value. the driver ([...]) was very knowledgeable about the island and gave us lots of good info and took us everywhere we wanted to go---he even got us into the volcano after it was closed. don't miss seeing the rest of the island---it is beautiful... my travel partner and i are used to more luxurious hotels, but after we settled into the coconut bay and soaked up some of the ambiance, we enjoyed it immensely. we loved our trip and would return to this resort in the future.

This resort is probably the best on the island is you have kids--because of the water park, which is nice. However, for an island hopper such as myself the food was fair at best as was the service. That warm caribbean welcome was present on the island but not at the resort and efficient they are not. I found out an hour before leaving that my travel agent had left me a special package which included two spa treatments and a voucher for the gift shop. So here I am an hour to go, trying to spend the voucher and find some place to pack it!!!! The rooms smelled like mold--except for the deluxe accommodations I found out. The entertainment they brought in was good but TOO LOUD if you are looking for some R&R. Beach had too much seaweed.

This was my first vacation out of the country. I really enjoyed the people. The food was great [buffet had something different everyday for every meal]. The water was beautiful and the staff was welcoming. The only thing that I did not like was the set up of the bathroom. The shower was stand-up with curtain, not a door which left water all over the floor every time we took a shower. All in all, it was fun and memorable vacation and I would go back.

Wish I had seen the reviews on this site but didn't book through here. Will look here first, next time. If you are looking for the beautiful calm waters of the Caribbean, this is not the place to stay. This is the choppy Atlantic ocean, not warm, calm Carribean sea. Beach swim area full of seaweed made the water a thing to avoid. Smell of rotting seaweed on the beaches also not pleasant. Went to 4 different "snorkeling" locations and found all lacking. Jamaica & Aruba so much better and more "fun" too. Any activities or places to see are on west coast and as mentioned in other reviews, taxis and excusions are very expensive. Agree that if you want to do nothing but laze on the beach, look at the sea and use pools it would be OK, as long as you're on adult beach. Too many kids running around unsupervised elsewhere. The food was better than average for an all inclusive and the rooms were clean. The place just felt "unfriendly". A couple of the staff were very pleasant and after a few days would greet you but overall it felt like you were putting them out. Also warned not to walk down the beach past the boundaries of the resort because not safe. Guess I had expected more from St Lucia but it reminded me of the north shore of the DR only more expensive. Not the island for me.
