We heard raves about Blue Crab, both from our Frommer's book and from a friend who summers in Victoria. Our dinner was an absolute disaster. For a seafood restaurant, the menu was surprisingly limited, with only three fish, none of which my wife eats. Although she had hoped to have some local fish, she ordered shrimp. I am not able to eat pork, and asked the waitress if their chowder contained any pork or pork products. She said it did not. Then, to be certain, I asked if it contained bacon. Again, she said that it did not. When the chowder arrived, after a spoonful, it was obvious that it did contain bacon. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she remarked that it was odd, as the menu never mentioned the pork. On her recommendation. I ordered the halibut over pasta, which, she said was a house specialty. The fish was overcooked, dry, and flavorless. To her credit, she did replace the halibut with a nice piece of salmon, but our dinner was a tremendous disappointment. No apology was offered, and we were charged for every item we ordered, even those returned to the kitchen. I would never return to Blue Crab!

We thought the Coast Harbourside was well worth the cost. Loved the lounge area - beautiful view of the harbor & we received exceptional service. The Fishermans Wharf is only a 2 minute walk from the hotel - we had the best fish & chips at Barbs Place! We'll definitely come back.

My husband and I stayed at the Coast Harborside for a weekend getaway. The hotel was very nice. The room was clean and decent sized and the staff was superb. We had a top floor room with a harbor view and sat on the balcony watching the water taxis scoot around the harbor and the pontoon planes take-off and land. The lounge has a nice view and good food. Our server the first morning was full of helpfull tips and recomendations. There is a Jazz club across the street...we did not go there but it seemed really interesting and plan to go the next time we are in Victoria. The hotel is a short walk from the Port Angeles, WA ferry terminal so if you come by ferry you don't need a car.

I was looking for a low-priced luxury hotel and found the Harbourside Hotel to more than meet my expectations. Location is excellent if you want a beautiful and romantic view overlooking the harbour (right on the water) and extremely clean and well maintained rooms (no bathroom rot etc.). Room termperature was perfect with quiet central fan without me needing to adjust thermostat. Hotel is in a quiet and safe neighborhood, within 10-minutes walking time to the harbor sights and 15-minutes to downtown. Hotel provided a free shuttle service to anywhere you wanted to go downtown. My only less than satisfactory experiences were too much chlorine in the spa, and the fitness center could use more free-weights to supplement its universal weight machine. I would highly recommend this clean, modern, and friendly staffed hotel to visitors of Victoria.

The Coast Harborside proved to be a really nice place to stay. Easy walking to downtown and right on the water, so the water taxi was a great bonus. Everything you'd want is nearby. A short walk takes you to the neaby Fisherman's Wharf. We came in on the ferry from Friday Harbor and it was a short walk to the Coast. Noise from the seaplanes was not a real problem. I liked having a small frig and wine glasses in the room. Nice touch. The Blue Crab was great for dinner. Nice view and good food. I liked the indoor / outdoor pool. Just right for the climate. The beds were comfortable and clean. Internet service was available in the room. Very handy. We'll be back on our next trip to Victoria.

The view from the room was really beautiful, and the staff was top notch! Have to pay for parking. This is a beautiful hotel. The staff was both friendly and helpful. We ended up with a beautiful view from our room that overlooked the harbor, and that enhanced our stay a great deal.

I spent a lot of time researching the hotels in Victoria because they all are expensive. We don't spend much time in the room as we love to explore new areas. From the map the hotel looked like it was a bit of a walk from the ferry but it was really only a few blocks. The hotel is right on the water overlooking the harbor with many boats. Sea planes take off (they don't make any noise to complain about!) The area is beautiful. Our room was a harborfront room with a queen bed that was very confortable. The room was spotless and the bathroom updated. The pool, hot tub and sauna are all very nice - we used them on a rainy afternoon. The restaurant is a bit expensive but the food was very good. We spent more time in town (go to the Irish Times bar!!!) great food and music. The best thing we did was rent a scooter for 24 hours which we drove all over the place. It was our 24 wedding anniversary and we had a Blast! The best part....the hotel told me that didn't have any more water front rooms but Travelocity said they had one so I booked it there and even got a gas card! Great hotel - great city. Visited the Empress - met someone who paid $$$/nt and said it was old and not worth it.

Even though we're fairly local, we thought it would be fun to show the kids Victoria. The hotel is in a great location, great views, clean, new, small enough that there are no long treks with luggage. Staff is a little unfriendly, but efficient. I had my small dog, and she was welcomed. My husband and I thought we'd have a nice dinner in the Blue Crab while the kids ate pizza in the room. I've never experienced such amateurish, terrible service in a restaurant of a caliber that this restaurant pretended to be. Worcesteshire sauce was delivered in the place of soy sauc, whith no humble explantion or apology. Menu items were not suggested or sold, just "taken." My advice: stay at the hotel but dine elsewhere.

We walked to the Coast Harbourside in Victoria from the Coho ferry dock and were pleasantly surprised at how much we liked it. The location is great - close to the marina and Barb's Fish & Chips (always a mandatory lunch spot for my husband), and a pleasant walk to the shops and restaurants along Government Street and the main drag of Victoria. If you don't feel like walking, the Victoria Harbor ferries stop right at the hotel, which is very convenient. We were with our brother-in-law and sister and their 2 children, who loved the pool. My husband and I were upgraded to a corner room on a high floor and had a lovely view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. There was some delay both at check-in & check-out due to computers being down, but the staff were pleasant nonetheless. We've previously stayed at several other hotels in the area and we'll go back to the Coast.

Liked the location, close to the marina. The shuttle service is very accomidating, I used them several times to go downtown. Front desk staff accomidating although not overly friendly. The room was very clean. Had dinner in the hotel dining room and found it to be overpriced and the food only average, although the service was good. Would not go back to the restaurant but would stay at the hotel again.

Very clean & helpful staff. Shuttle to town/airport. Alittle away from the bustling downtown but good & scenic walk into town. Very clean. Helpful staff & friendly too. Surroundings were beautiful, right at the coastline but about 15 minutes walk away from the downtown Victoria attractions. Free internet station (1 station only).

Great view of the waterway. No mini bar in room. Nice hotel, on the water leading to Victoria's inner harbor. My room was larger than I expected, with free Internet access (a huge bonus, since I've spent up wards of $13 a day in other hotels for this service). Room service was good, front desk was very helpful answering questions, and, they offer a free shuttle to the Victoria Clipper. I would recommend this hotel, and stay there again.
