Went with a friend on a last minute vacation. we recently stayed in puerto plata, DR @ the riu Bachata. bc of this, we were all about comparing the two. *The beach is stunning- powdery white sand and crystal clear tourquois water. * staff did not particularly seem to go out of their way to help you (i.e. it rained a lot when we were there.... our room umbrella magically diassappeared. when we asked for a replacement we were told "probobly tomorrow youll get one..." ok... *make sure to get your butt up early to get beach/pool towels, they run out early. really? its a beach front hotel, why do you only have the bare minimum of towels? when i went to inquire about this to the front desk, they took their sweet time finding me a towel and seemed annoyed that i asked (i am NOT a pushy complainer by any means) * the food is edible......we lived on salad, pizza and french fries....no food after 10oclock, sucks for when youre starving after a night of drinking! *in order to eat at a "restaurant" (closed off area of the daily snack bar) make sure you get up to make your reservation between 7-10 am.....we chose to sleep, since we were on vacation *teeny tiny ants in the rooms * front desk called and woke us up at 8am on our second day there, to ask us about how we were getting to the airport....5 days later

The staff was very friendly, great activities planned, the nightclub and the location was beautiful. I absolutely didn't like the room, the bed was to small. The hotel is beautiful and at a great location. I guess because it was high season the food didn't vary much but besides the food and the room the hotel was great.

The staff were lovely. The pool and beach area were beautiful. The Animacion entertainers were lots of fun and the drinks were good. However, the rooms were barebones and in need of updating. No luxury whatsoever. The shower was mostly cold. Other than breakfast, we felt the food was poor, but apparently Punta Cana is not known for good food anyway. Not a horrible place, but I prefer more luxury in a vacation room.

The beach is unbeatable, the hotel personnel friendly and very helpful. The room we got was a little noisy being on the only access of the hotel. The only problem we had was the presence of very large roaches (3) the very last day. Aside from that everything is on line with the price and everybody in the resort is working toward making you feel comfortable. This was our third stay in a Riu resort -mexico and DR-. Compared with other Riu resorts in mexico, the beach was deep enough so you could get your own spot all day long, and was kept spotless by the personnel. Overall great stay for a couple or a family.

The Hotel is good, if no problems to be solved. Employees can not solve problems. When a problem arises, they can not resolve (Like I got a towel for the beach at 2:30 pm and told me that they had not more towels. Even if you request, and giving alternatives, they do not know what to do.

We stayed for 5 nights/6 days and this hotel was awesome!! The rooms were clean and had liquor dispensers in them that were included in the price!!! Housekeeping comes by every other day to restock the liquor and everyday to clean the room. I do wish the air conditioner had a little more kick to it because it was hot as hell! There were activities all day long down by the pool. The bartenders at all of the bars were great and treated us like queens! (there were 16 women in our party) The food was delicious with many options available. They have a beach party on Saturdays for all the guests to take part in some good ol meringue and salsa dance lessons. The excursions they offer are inexpensive and worth the money. Where else can you go horseback riding on the beach for an hour for the good ol' price of 35? There were nightly shows and the bartenders don't stop serving until you say when. I will definitely be returning in the near future.!!

Our trip was very good overall. The hitel was clean and much what I expected after being to DR several times. Food was decent and bar staff always had a drink waiting when they seen you coming....we do always tip them extra as they work long hours. Rooms were OK...clean but good enough for sleeping and getting ready. The beach was beautiful and always had plenty of lounge chairs to pick from. As far as fine dining goes, this hotel does not offer a lot of options.....but we were satisfied with the buffet and steakhouse. The zip-line tour is a must. Fun for all ages and worth the $80 US...crew was fun and busride gave you a true glimpse into how the people live. Only complaint would be against parents bringing children and not keeping an eue on them..especially in the pool bar area. We went during Easter break so families were expected..just wish parents would keep their kids under their own supervision!

Stayed 5 nights. Resort was nice, best feature is beach. Lots of palm trees. Get there early to get a chair. The Europeans get up at the crack of dawn, put a towel on a chair to claim it, and are gone the whole day. Same thing with the pool chairs. Rooms were OK. Nothing special, but they were clean. Beds are horrible (2 twins put together and hard as a rock), AC was so-so. Food in the buffet was great, thought the a la cartes were crap. Staff was very friendly and almost all spoke English. Swim up pool bar was one of our favorite spots, good drinks. Nightly shows of varying quality, but most were enjoyable. Casino is short walk at next hotel. Prices in resort are unreal. Candy bars were almost *dollars. Take an excursion to buy your gifts.Good location for excursions. Shorter drive time to some of the non-water activities.

This hotel was very good for the price we paid. There were countless food options, the pool was clean and warm, the employees were friendly and responsive to requests and the beach was just perfect. Four Riu properties are linked and you can go between them which we liked very much. The only bad thing I can say about this property is that the pillows are terrible and the bed is hard. Blankets from the front desk solved both problems! We had a great time and will return!

I stayed at another resort my first day and i never should have changed. This hotel is good for couples. But the animation is horrible an d rooms need t o be upgraded.

Very family oriented resort but there is a lot to do as a couple. We pretty much relaxed on the beach every day.We took some daily trips outside of the resort (the are OK but not as described in a booklet, I would think twice next time before booking another day trip if it is worth the money). Staff is very friendly and helpfull, large food selection every day, rooms are OK, outside upkeep is great, people work all the time there. Loved the resort, would go back anytime.

All I can say is pay more and go to a different hotel. It is a dump. Room was nasty and air & toilet didn't work. Safe had water in it. Room smelled like the septic backed up on top of the mold smell that all room have down there. I can handle the mold smell, but the combo was unbearable We only had lunch, but they didn't even have the mayo on ice. We paid an arm and leg to upgrade to a different hotel on the resort the first night.

The RUI Bambu has great service and outstanding food. The room was more like a motel than a hotel with very uncomfortable beds. The only drawback is that is not advisable to check out the local areas outside the hotel unless you go on one of the many tours offered for a price. The casino was the most unprofessional one I have ever seen and we only stayed about 15 minutes. If you are going away for R & R this is the place for the price.

I was very impressed with the Riu Bambu hotel. Everything was wonderful from beginning to end. The drinks, food, rooms, and staff were all great and the property was in a fantastic location. I would recommend the hotel to anyone interested in going to Punta Cana.

"We are a family of 4 -- 2 boys, ages 6 and 7. This was a nice all-inclusive hotel for the money. My boys enjoyed the pool and beach. The beach was beautiful. The hotel service was fine--no complaints. The food was good except I didn't care for the lunch. Possibly because I don't like seafood or greasy cheeseburgers. Breakfast and dinners were good with a decent selection for our whole family. My sons loved the daily kids programs. The only thing that I wish were different are the hotels pool/beach towels-- I felt they were never cleaned!! Overall, it was a nice vacation for the money."

"The Beach looked nice from the window of the bathroom!!! After arriving at the hotel around 6 I decided to eat dinner, BAD IDEA. The food went down easy, and came out even easier for the duration of my vacation. My only beef, the mean cusine."

This hotel left a lot to be desired. The sheets were too short for the bed and therefore would not stay in place during the night. The pillows were rock hard and impossible to sleep on. There were not enough towels left in the room each day. The mattress and pillows were torn. The food was the same everyday. There were cochroaches on the toaster. This place was not at all relaxing. We have been to the Dominican Republic 5 times and this was the worst.

"great fun, non stop activities for our kids all day[11 & 6], while we hit the beach & relaxed.service was excellent , food was nothing to write home about, but variety every day.if u don't have a good time here see a doctor. only drawback was the room, a bit small with outdated bathroom."
